Basketball tour to Italy...

Anyone know if its still going ahead?  When are the dates? Where we playing?

Also which players are going can play?  the ones sitting out this season?

to see them play?  Trips like the one you are talking about usually occur in August.  All players on the team this year who have eligibility left can play on the tour.  That means that Williams, Granberry and Verdejo can play.  Howard and Cann can play too if they are healthy enough.  Jones and Holmes cannot play since they are seniors with no eligibility remaining.  Also, new signees, like Curry who are not presently in school cannot go on the trip.

We could really use a tour like this to help integrate Verdejo, Granberry and Williams into the team.  It would be especially helpful if Howard and Dennis were completely healthy.  I doubt Cann will be ready by August.

Verdejo cannot play til December, which mean barring pass from NCAA he cannot participate in the games.

The Italy tour begins on August 11th.  We are currently putting together packages for those interested in traveling with the team.  This trip is being funded from contributions and the proceeds from their annual golf tournament.  No state funds.

This type of trip is very imporatnt for a young team.  It gives them an extra couple weeks of practice which could help winning games in the BIG EAST Conference.  That's about 12 extra practices before everyone else can begin.

Once the packages are done I'll let you know and see if anyone is interested.
