i have seen many occassions where an NFL qb has to have the medical staff come out on the field which means he must sit out atleast 1 play  but then he is right back in there.

that rule, if it does exsist, is pretty stupid.  i doubt it is actually on the books

As far as that rule goes, as far as I understand it, if any player is hurt and an injury timeout must be called for him to get off the field, then he has to at least sit out the next play. I guess if your injured enough for them to call a timeout, you too injured to be in the next play.

He has to sit out one play only if the game clock is stopped to get him off the field. The team with the injured players must leave him off for one play. BUT a coach can call timeout and put the player back in immediatly.
