USF is not the host of the Big East tournament. The press release and certain articles were incorrect. The Clearwater Threshers are the host.

"In its first season as a member of the BIG EAST, USF will serve as host institution for the event. ".....the way I read that article from the 17th it certainly sounds like we USF is hosting..also todays article in the St Pete Times reads the same..I dont know maybe I am reading it wrong or you meant to post another site and a different article...if anyone really knows please post and let us no...thanks

Ummm...if I'm not mistaken all NCAA events must be hosted by a member school.  USF was the host for the Men's BB NCAA's regionals & Final 4 held Tampa & St. Pete.

I did post it. Talked to Paul Dodson after the press release and articles the day after. He was misinformed and said his press release was wrong.

USF is NOT the host. The Clearwater Threshers are the host.

This is what the orginal press release says:

"The BIG EAST Conference, in conjunction with Minor League Baseball’s Clearwater Threshers, announced Tuesday that the 2006 BIG EAST Conference Baseball Championship will be held at Bright House Networks Field in Clearwater, Fla. Bright House Networks Field"

Paul told me he misread it and what he wrote is wrong.

Well someone should notify the St Pete Times because they had a story in todays paper stated how we got to become the Host school and how they feared we would not make it but prior the coaches voted had voted that USF should finish third..so the commitee elected to allow USF to host this event..I think I need to make a call to the AD to find out the story...I think you are right BullDoug NCAA events are to be hosted by a member school

i do not think it is possible for a professional sports team to HOST an NCAA event.
