Secondary will be a problem as long as they play 10 yards off the man. Those short 8-10 yard passes for 1st downs killed us over and over. We would stop the run, but the opponent would come back and pass and kill us every time. This area needs work.

...and the Bulls will soon be one of the top 10 in defense no doubt

Agree !

We're returning 8 starters !

We return 2 DB starters in the secondary from 2005 injury and lose 1 starter back there. Secondary will be deeper and better.

LB's ... we return EVERYONE !!! along the 2 Deep.

DT's ... lose Jones and gain the JuCo ... this was a VERY young group and should be better with the depth.

DE's ... biggest loss and the only one that MAY make a difference because of depth. Robinson and Julmiste will be as strong at End as we've had. Possible replacements: Buie, George, Selvie ... and maybe Thomas moving back and forth.

And with our schedule ... I am EXPECTING a Top 10 D

...

2004 1st Downs by Passing: 117 (OPP)

2005 1st Downs by Passing:   77 (OPP)

You may be on overall ... but Scoring Defense went from 31.91 in 2004 to 18.4 in 2005 - and scoring is what really counts. Nearly 2 TD's per game given up improvement.

Ketchel is a high school TE, but with those physical attributes, could be a great DE too.

And with his potential skills, sure they won't be wasted at TE for USF ... beef him up and keep his speed.

Didn't he also play DE is HS ?

Ketchel is all TE.  Craig Marshall is much quicker and faster than that.  He's supposedly quick like a cat off the snap, just fires off the ball.  Alabama has been relentless in their pursuit of him, and that's UA not UAB.

Ketchel and Marshall will add weight, in two years you'll see Ketchel as a 6-5 265lbs TE, and Marshall around 260 at DE.  Two fantastic building blocks.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
