I do not think we regressed and they improved.  After UCF we beat Louisville, Rutgers, Cincinnati and Syracuse, and lost to Miami, WVU, UConn, Pittsburgh and NC State.  After us, UCF beat Marshall, Houston, UAB, Memphis, ECU, and survived Rice.  Lost to Southern Miss, Tulsa and Nevada, the only teams they played with winning records.

Other than WVU and Miami our losses were against average teams.  Their losses were against average teams.  Our wins (Rutgers and Louisville) were better.

Having said all that, I would not be shocked if we lost next year, they play the games for a reason.

with jim leavitt manning the controlls, anything is possible.. hell, UCONN was supposed to be a gimme game, and look what leavitt and his boys did with that one.. jim's downfall is that he gives rod smith and pat julmiste free reign to totally screw up our offense.. leavitt needs to put his foot down, fire his OC and bench julmiste-- but he wont, because those are "his boys" and he always finds a way to go back to them (despite flirting with playing time with courtney denson and carlton hill, he always found an excuse to get PJ back in there.. and despite the fact that the legendary art kehoe and carl franks are sitting there waiting to be hired as offensive coordinator, yet he wont fire rod smith).  we've had enough of these shenanigans-- with jim leavitt in there, there's always that hint of doubt

I expect we will win but it might be a close game and wouldn't be totally shocked if we lost.  Yeah, their defense is pretty bad but our offense was nothing to brag about this year and we're losing our best player on that side of the ball in Hall.  Should be a great game, but we'll pull it out becuase of the strength of our lines.

SK-One - They had lost 16 straight when they played us, they ended up going to a bowl game.  And you don't think they improved? And I'm pretty sure that both Memphis and Houston had winning records.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
