mark it down, WVU, Lville will be top 10 next year.  Pitt will be top 25.  We'll get votes.

I hope we get many votes.  I expect to be ahead of Pitt and one or both of WVU and Louisville.  Why settle for less?  We should compete for the league title.

I'm going to reserve judgement on next season.

Too many question marks. Our Secondary will be loaded, but we are losing a lot of both lines. Not to mention our best player.

Spring practice should answer a lot.

No they sent the #4 team to the BCS last year.

Starting next season technically every conference is a BCS conference. All will receive some type of compensation. The highest non auto team will get a spot in a BCS bowl as long as they finish 12th or higher OR 16th or higher if one BCS team is under 12th place (This year TCU would have been BCS bound).

The conference evaluation is on the highest RANKED team in the conference not the CHAMPION. They will then look at the TOTAL conference and how many teams they have in the top 25 compared to the rest of the BCS conferences. Add to that they will look at other factors such as schedule strength, etc. to determine conference affliations.

The ACC had Miami at 8 before the bowl game (and it only counts before the bowl games) They did have 6 teams ranked.

Likewise the SEC had Georgia at 7. (And 5 teams ranked total)

We had WVU at 11. (2 ranked total)

WVU will start the season in the top 5 next season, we should be fine as long as 2 other teams step up.

To dispell one other rumor, if the BCS dropped the Big East (which won't happen) they do NOT have to add another conference for an autobid. There can be as little as 5 conferences for autobids and as much as 7 (So say MWC continues growing) they could get an autobid if they meet the requirements. (Scary thought because they do have Utah's finish at 6 last season)

The BCS will reevaluate every 4 years, next evaluation is in 2010 (Louisville's 2004 is included). By then the Big East will be a solid conference that won't be going 1-3 in bowl games.
