... dropped Frank Harry from a 4 star DT to a 3 star? How much more "expert" evaluation has been done on a JuCo transfer during the past week?

The number flucuate as scouting reports come in. Someone probably saw something negative and pulled him down. Rivals changes their rankings and ratings constantly throughout the year. For example, Jarrad Fayson was a 5 star that has dropped to 4 star.

Yes, and the fact that he committed to USF probably did make some people think he's not as good as they originally thought.

this is how it works...when they commit to a place like UF, their ranking goes up one star regardless of how good or bad they really are. The opposite is true for USF commits.

`cause rivals sucks...

There is no way they can provide the "services" they claim to, without having a scout at every other high school game in the country, every friday night.  The only real way to judge a recruit is by how many colleges recruit him and how hard they pursue.  It takes entire coaching staffs with employed scouts going to these games to get an accurate picture of the talent pool.

these star systems dont mean much.  sure, most of the 5 star guys are cant miss but when you talk about the 4star vs 2star....its probably equal as far as NFL talent goes.  17 year old kids can get by on natural talent.  these stars dont take into consideration their work ethic to improve or anything like that

maybe these places take into account the coaching at the various schools

usf's coaching is not as good as uf's so it makes sense to downgrade

In the end it doesn't matter.  The ONLY thing that matters is how your coaching staff prepares him for game day.  3 or 4 stars are meaningless.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
