I talked recently with a young man who has been there several times and he said the town and the stadium are fantastic... The young man played at Applachian State and whenever he had time he went to USC for the weekend and a game.

Even with as many losing seasons as they've had, the stadium is always packed at kick-off.  However, if they get down early, the fans will leave in droves.

The USC stadium is a very nice stadium.  Parking is easy because its not really on Campus, but on the fringe of the City.  Access is also very easy.  Columbia is definately a college town, but it is mixed well with State Capitol, but nicer then Tallahassee.

My advice, stay at the Hampton Inn on Gervais Street.  It is about three miles from the Stadium and is practically new.  Being on Gervais Street you are in the Vista which is where there are many good bars and good restaurants within walking Distance.  You may want to reserve a room early, its not that big of a hotel.

i  also kicked off our two fresh drinks.we were crammed in so it was a pain to go and get drinks in the chithole.

some guy gave my girl a drink(thinking she was single).

i felt like a sardine in a can in those hot metal benches.

only a bowl game would bring me back to that stadium.

it was the worst experience in my life and that includes a 2 hour wait to park at football game at rosebowl

Its was several years ago I went to the UCF game, but I think it was 15,16 and 17.  They may have moved it by now.  I do a lot of work in the Columbia area so my knowledge of the hotels is current.  Its a good time up there.

That Bama stadium was a horrible dump!!!   I still have nightmares!

To be fair, that is not Alabama's regular stadium. However it is UAB's....ouch!

I can't count how many Alabama fans apologized for having to play in that dump.
