When speaking of attendance woes, we must include our new conference mates as part of the problem.  What was that yesterday?  The attendance at UAB was pitiful.  Is that tied into our team's performance?

It was bad.  Not sure, but during pre game, VPMK was boasting about the good TV slots that we have been getting and suggesting that it was due to our performance and fan interest.  We definitely took a step backwards in that department yesterday.

UAB announced attendance was 23792, somebody should inform the Times.
and Miami announced 58,000+ at theirs

I honestly don't think it matters THAT much for attendance whether we win or lose in conference. The people coming to these games are the same people that would attend a spring game or a Bulls practice. The average USF alum, student, or Tampa casual fan will attend if USF is nationally relevant or it is a big game that everyone in the area is talking about. Winning in conference consistently may take average actual attendance from 10k to 20k, but right now in this league, our ceiling and floor ain't all that different.

The way I see it, step 1 destroy all these no name in conference schools weekly step 2 get into a better conference = increased fan support. We have to get step one accomplished before we worry about fan support. It's going to be abysmal until we get out of this league.

This is why media/fans harping on our announced versus actual attendance figures is a freaking joke ...

FIFY. How about no one uses announced attendance figures ever again when making any type of evaluations/prognostications.

College football attendance is dropping, but the problem is much bigger than most people know.

Out of the 100 schools the Journal surveyed, all but one announce the total tickets sold (or distributed, since schools often give out free tickets) as their attendance, as opposed to tickets scanned. Some schools even count stadium staff, the marching band, and the media among their attendance numbers.

FIBFM. People can do what they want but acting like we're some sort of aberration when it comes to attendance reporting is the freaking joke ....
