Questions:

1. Why is this no longer a thread?

2. Why is this not being talked about?

Saw it on CBSSportline.com, and not here? What gives?

Having been "forced" to leave the state to play collegiate football and baseball in the mid-1970s, the new contract solidifies Leavitt’s longstanding declaration that he has no intentions of leaving again. When he returned home in 1996 to lead the fledgling USF program, it was for the first time since he left for Missouri in 1974 and he has been emphatic in his desire to stay.

"I can see myself coaching at South Florida until I retire,†says Leavitt. “Then I can buy season tickets and sit in the stands and watch the Bulls play on Saturdays."

"Leading the USF football program is much more than just a job," said Leavitt when he was hired. "And it is much more than a task at hand. It is something that is a major part of my life, and it will always be that. I am going to do everything I can to build a program without illusions, without cutting corners, doing things the right way and bringing in coaches with character."

Leavitt also speaks a lot about the "being home" factor.

"Shortly after I was hired, I was speaking with Brigham Young coach LaVell Edwards," recalls Leavitt. "He told me that throughout his years at BYU, he had plenty of opportunities to move on to what some might perceive to be better coaching jobs. But, he told me, 'I never left, and you know why I didn't? It's because this is my home.'

"He told me, ‘Jim, you'll never want to leave the (USF) job, because you're going home.’â€Â

Leavitt won't be leaving and love the FREE Press about USF's success  8)

It would be a step down from USF to go to K-State anyways. Would take him atleast 5 years to get where we are now! It would only be about money and Leavitt isn't ALL about money.

Go BULLS !!!

My dad and I were talking about this at the game Saturday. In our opinions CJL has nothing to gain by going to K-State. He has been here from the start, and he will be THE MAN, when he takes us to our first MNC. At K-State he will have to rebuild what is at least this year, not a good program. Their athletic budget may be more than oours, but that will change with time, and victories. Plus he may have cioached at K-State but he grew up in St. Pete.

Our AD will make sure that money won't be an issue.

Outside of that, KSU will be a downgrade in terms of a school,  program and place to live.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
