major showcase for the USF bowls.

That piece from on campus was embarrasing

I'm sure the piece was edited that way deliberately.

thats what happens when games are being played that far away from campus-- especially football games not being played on campus in a florida school.. if you ever go to UMiami, its the same way, and they've got 5 national titles in the past 25 years!

That is the worst excuse and one that isn't plausible. The stadium is no more than 10-15 miles from campus, there is a free shuttle, and tickets are free for students, so there is really no excuse as to not attending games unless one is just not a football fan.

well what they showed has nothing to do with an on campus stadium.  im sure if you spent 3 hours at UF tomorrow you could find 20 students who didnt know who Urban Meyer was.  infact, you would find 20 kids who said spurrier before meyer

Normally I like Baynews9's coverage of local sports, but that piece was a joke.  I don't care if they were doing it in jest......we need all of the help we can get to get the "buzz" going around the area.  I don't think we are at a point where we can be comfortable w/ sarcasm.  Alot of the fringe "fans" that we need to be attracting may not be knowledgeable enough to know that they were doing it in fun.  "Buzz", especially in this area, is contagious, and the people that may be on the fence about going to the game Saturday may think that there will not be a very good atmosphere there and decide that they have better ways to spend their Saturday morning.

it may be the worst excuse, but its the truth.. most kids who attend UF and FSU didnt go into college as football fans, but came out as diehard football fans.. when you're exposed enough to it, you become a fan of it.. you may not like it, but it just is how it is.. look at miami, ucla, pittsburgh, just to name a few.. all programs with strong traditions but with stadiums over 10 mins away from campus.. the school spirit pales in comparison to schools with stadiums on campus... it is what it is

Is there sort of like a "street team" for games to get the word out? Maybe students who pass out fliers on and off campus to start the buzz going
