Bulls have won five of last six homecoming games

NOTING THE OPPONENT: HOUSTON Houston improved to 7-1 and 5-0 in the AAC with an upset of previously unbeaten and No. 19/16-ranked SMU, 44-37, last Saturday at TDECU Stadium. in Houston. The Cougars used a 100-yard kickoff return by senior cornerback Marcus Jones inside the last minute of the game to grab the upset. It was Jones’ fourth touchdown return of the season (two kickoff and two punt). Junior quarterback Clayton Tune led the way for the Cougars with a career day as he completed 27 passes for 412 yards and four touchdownsin the tightly-contested conference matchup.

Houston lost its season opener to Texas Tech (38-21) before reeling off seven straight wins, including over shared opponents with USF - at Tulsa (45-10) and vs. ECU (31-24)

Houston leads the nation in third down defense allowing opponents to convert just 25 percent.

Houston has the top defense in the AAC giving up 286 yards per game and the No. 3 scorring offense (37.3 ppg).

Tune is completing 69 percent of his passes for 1,839 yards and 16 touchdowns on the year.

Wide reciever Nathaniell Dell ranks second in confernce posting six catches a game (48 on the year) and third with 675 yards while posting seven receiving touchdowns.

 Houston has the two top leaders in the conference in sacks per game in defensive linemen D’Anthony Jone

Houston arguably will be the best defense we have faced all season.

Arguably, indeed.  I think NC State is the best defense we have faced so far.  Florida may be better than Houston as well.

Based on competition you could be right. Based on pure statistics Houston is #4 in the nation.
