I knew there was was a 5 places ranking rule that would dethrone the champ for a BCS bowl.  They didn't want to get into a situation where a 6-5 BE champion played in the BCS bowl over a 10-1 BE second place team.  I think that makes complete sense.

i think the polls would even themselves out a bit if we beat WVU and won all the other games.  I bet we'd end up within 5 places, perhaps better.  I hope we get a chance to find out.

We may just have to settle with Co-Big East Champs.   ;D

Not going to happen.

If we win out we will more than likely break the top 25 between 20 and 25 prior to WVU.

If WVU hangs at 14 and we beat them we'll climb to 15-20 and WVU will fall at least 3-5 spots.

Could they keep us out of the top 25, realistically, if we were 8-3 with wins over #9 Lville & probable #14 WVU and losses to two BCS teams?

And if WVU lost to us, they would fall from that ranking at least to the 20's.  That is under 5 spots right there.

Oh please let it play out that way ;D ;D

I agree - I think a 8-3 USF team comes within 5 places of a 9-2 WVU team, but not ranked ahead.

Just win out!

I've just been informed that was last year's rule and doesn't apply this year.

That's pretty interesting.  Conflicts with what the WV reporter is saying.  I do remember a discussion on some sports talk show earlier THIS season about the 5 places in the BCS rankings rule.  Who can give us the definitive answer?
