Fine, then.  So why is it on the USF page?

Is there an online "Travel" Section? I don't think the TribOnline is structured as a mirror image of the printed work.

It still shouldn't be on the USF page.

BullGrad95 you are missing the point. Everyone of those schools got PROPS!!! They got there pics and locations and evrything else all advertised for free. It's not a real matter about just tailgating. It is advertising. Sure everyone knows where to go and get it done for us in Tampa. But she could have included info about our team. Sports fans are not the only ones looking at the travel section. It's the Ma and Pa's who are in for something to do. It is the families who want to take the kids to a game. It's the non sports fans who just want to do something local that is exciting and won't cost them and arm and a leg. THAT is what and why we were snubbed. It in MHO was a travesty and it has made me cancell my subscription to the paper.    Reaper

I see both points of view on this one...  I still think the article is okay since it's in the travel section...

Letters published in today's Tribune:

Where's The Respect?

Published: Aug 31, 2005

To do an article on every other school's tailgate locations and not include USF is a slap in the face to the school, its students, alumni and especially the city and the businesses that would benefit from this kind of coverage.

It's no wonder the Lightning play in the St. Pete Times Forum; they have more respect for my city than my hometown paper does.

Support USF Football

Published: Aug 31, 2005

As I was enjoying the Sunday paper, I came to the Travel section. I was delighted to see the article on Florida universities and where to go to tailgate and eat or buy fan gear after the game. However, I was disappointed at the absence of any mention of the University of South Florida and its football amenities.I know that this article was in the travel section, but I do believe people would have enjoyed finding out about those same areas in our own neighborhood. We need to support our local university and encourage participation in its football program.<

And the Letter of the Day in today's (8/31) Tribune:

A Real College Football Team

Published: Aug 31, 2005

Upon reading ``Rivalry Revelry'' (Travel, Aug. 28), I was confounded by the absence of the University of South Florida. Students, alumni and locals have built the Bulls' football program into an up-and-coming powerhouse that will take on the University of Miami this year, as well as UCF and UF in the near future. If you have ever been to a USF game at Ray Jay, you would experience the same tailgating atmosphere among revelers as you would at Doak Campbell or ``The Swamp.''

Your blatant disregard for our local college team sends a message to Tampa residents: USF is not a ``real'' college team; therefore, it is not worth supporting. What will it take for USF to be considered a part of the world of Florida college football?

I thought this thread was about Brett Favre!! Seriously, the Tribune should have listed USF with the other schools or at least explained that we're not listing USF because it's about traveling to games outside of Tampa. Unfortunately I wasn't aware the travel section was doing this article until I picked up Sunday's paper or I would have made sure USF was well represented. Thanks, Brett

Brett,

The Trib could "make up" for it by including a "traveling to USF away games" article in the Travel section.

:-)

Just a thought.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
