[...]Minnesota contacted USF about scheduling a home-and-home series beginning next season, but USF was not interested. USF still needs two non-conference games to complete its 2006 schedule.[...]

Something must be cooking....they would have taken this deal if not.  Otherwise, I'd say bad decision.

Could be that they are trying to focus on obtaining home and home series with teams that would appeal more to this region. Personally I would like to see us to play Ga Tech. Its an easy trip for bulls fans and it would also give us exposure in the Atlanta recruiting area.

How could anyone know if it was a good or bad decision if we don't know WHY we weren't interested. Perhaps, it's as simple as they wanted the game at their home in 2006 and we wanted it in Tampa. It would be nice to know the reason.

A home and home series with Minnesota would be great, they always put a competative team on the field each year

Too far to travel.  I think they prefer local teams.

Since USF will need 5 non-conf games scheduled in 2006 (12 game season, 7 Big East Games), what are the other 2 non-conf games y'all have scheduled next year besides UCF? (UNC/NCST or someone like that??)

Just curious.

It could have been a simple matter of not having common dates available.

Regardless, I would prefer to play a team that is closer.

USF's 2006 Schedule:

OOC:

@ UNC

@ UCF

vs FIU

Big East:

@ Louisville

@ Cincinnati

@ West Virginia

vs Rutgers

vs U Conn

vs Pittsburgh

vs Syracuse

Miami also owes USF a game in Tampa, but that probably won't be until 2007 (which is better for USF, as the Bulls only have 3 Big East home games that year).

Jim...The Miami AD has said that the UM return game is most likely to take place between 2008-2010.
