Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Memorial Day.  Tampa has a very large military presence and I always love when they support us at events throughout the year.

Take a minute between beers and brats to say a prayer for all our active military and remember those who gave all.

Go Bulls!

Heading off shortly for some pancakes at the American Legion and a small-town parade in Oak View, CA.

And yes, it most certainly is a day to remember those who are currently serving, as well as living veterans, and those vets that died peacefully in their beds long after their service.

Holidays and ceremonies will change over time as the population of celebrants changes. Memorial Day is no exception, and there's a long history of this kind of discussion. According to Wikipedia, as far back as  "1913 ... complained that younger people born since the war had a "tendency ... to forget the purpose of Memorial Day and make it a day for games, races and revelry, instead of a day of memory and tears"

No need for buckets of tears, especially for those who died in service. A solemn moment of reflection is a good thing, but a joyous celebration of the America they forged is a good thing as well. My daddy made it back, but a lot of others didn't.

So I will watch the parade today, with a tear in my eye for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice - and for those still MIA - and a song in my heart for the country they help create, with hope for the future that someday no more will have to sacrifice for king and country.

Everyone needs to order a drink, or pour one from home, don't drink it nor let it be poured out today.

It's for our brothers and sisters today.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
