Well hell if that's all we did against Cinci then there's no possible way we could improve.

!

Problem is, I'll bet psu's offense has improved from last year too.  Probably more than ours?

Could be, but the earlier comparison to how we played against Cinci was a stretch.

Why is it a stretch?  Cinci as a team last year was probably not as good of a defense as PSU is going to have this year.  They were like top 5 last year and return pretty much everybody.

We have lost several O-Linemen and have some new freshmen receivers, other than that it's the same old same old.  PJ's gonna start.  Why is it a stretch to say if we only scored 14 against Cinci last year that we would be able to score that much on one of the best defenses in the country?

I don't think he meant offensively, I think he meant defensively.

Cincinnati had a strong offense loaded with seniors... we had an inexperienced defense loaded with underclassmen...

Thus, the Cincinnati game last year is not a good indication of what the Penn State game will be like.  To be sure, our offense may still sputter and wheeze against PSU's defense -- with PJ or anyone else at QB... but our defense will be improved.

Because every year in college is like a rebirth.  Kids mature, new players come in, old players leave.  When we played against Cinci we were sitting a starting DT, CB, and LB...and the rest of the team were like freshmen.

Last year against Cinci has no bearing on how this year will be, however, if you must ask I think this year we've got far more firepower and range at WR, and we've got more athleticism at QB, RB, and TE.  The experience is starting to creep in, and that will make us more effective providing the QB position can handle the passing game.

By the way, even against Cinci we still racked up over 350 yards total offense.   What lost the Cinci game wasn't our offense it was the fact our defense couldn't stop them at all.  Cinci scored on 5 of their first 6 possessions!
