Great short story during the broadcast last night about how Gilbert pointed out to the broadcast team the differences in Florida kids vs Texas kids.  Basically said that Texas kids are indoctrinated to the local HS playbook starting in 6th grade and that players are "developed" locally over years until they reach high school.  Said he worked with middle schoolers when he was a HS coach to prep them for the move to HS ball.

Sounds like he doesn't have any desire to change his ways for Florida kids who are more athletic and may not fit into his scheme as he wants to "develop" players.

Wish I had the clip to go with it, but I was so disgusted with the game that I deleted it from the DVR as soon as I finished watching.

Sounds like an excuse by CSG

Do we even have middle school football in Florida anymore?

In South Carolina the middle schools are right next to the high schools and the middle school football is run by the high school staff.

That was another one of his "differences" - the resources poured into TX high school football vs. Florida.  The way I took the piece was that while FL may have great athletes, TX has a great system for developing players from middle school to college (which sounded like what he prefers).

Not necessarily.  Would you take QF as an "undeveloped" player over someone with less natural talent that came through the "system"?

So Florida kids should be a better fit since he has no playbook to learn.

Touche', but wouldn't you rather have a more polished QF?

Anyway, I feel like I'm always defending Gilbert.  I call BS on this one though.  Why does every college want Florida kids if they're so bad?
