Big East to lose Insight Bowl tie-in

I think the BE will be fine when all is said and done.  I disagree about ND being a bad deal for BE.  without them u get no Gator/Sun deal.  My guess is BE #2 gets 2 years in sun... and 1 in gator.  One bowl not mentioned could be a good deal for BE is Detroit.. they prob lose big 10 #6 or 7.  Be #4 or 5 could be a good replacement.  I also think u will have a real shot at independence bowl.

i think there is a legitimate crisis brewing as both the NBE and CDOA will have trouble fulfilling their bowl obligations. Just a prediction.

At least twice in recent years the Big East has had more bowl eligible teams than bowls available.  6 of the 8 NBE teams were bowl eligible last year, not to mention Notre Dame also being eligible.

The Big East has never had and never will have difficulty filling 5 slots.

The Big East actually wants out of the Insight Bowl tie-in... they are not losing it.  An article I read about the Gatory/Sun deal said something to the effect of "The Big East is working to get out of its tie-in with the Insight Bowl"...

For what it's worth. 5 slots for 8 teams is appropriate... especially when there are 56 total slots for 119 teams.

I'd love to see the BE get the Motor City tie in, since I now live in the Detroit metro area.  I know it isn't as glamorous as some other sites, but it would be freaking awesome to see the Bulls play their first bowl at a local place.  Plus, I'd be able to host some activities for some of the friends I've got on this board.

There are so **** many bowl slots that no conference could possibly fill them all. There's 28 games again this year, and even last year they had to sign several MAC/Sun Belt at-large teams, and an ineligible Iowa State team, just to play all the games.

PS - looks like the Big 10 is pulling out of the Music City Bowl - that game in Nashville could be a place for a Big East team...

I really don't want to have to go to Phoenix or Tempe to see a bowl game.  Heck,  if I'm going that far, make it the Las Vegas Bowl...that's a dual purpose trip.
