Does FSU do it?  Yes they do...

BOBBY'S excellent ADVENTURE ; FSU Coach Bobby Bowden is on the road again for the 30th edition of his spring booster tour.

Eric,

I for one want to tell you what a great job you guys are doing. I attended the one at Tampa Palms and couldn't have been more pleased. It was awesome and I had the opportunity to speak to each one of the coaches.

Don't listen to all the criticism on these post. The people that are complaining about this are the ones that missed out and didn't give it a chance. It was well worth the $125! Please continue doing the Around the Horns with golf in the future!

Thanks

Go Bulls

That's a little short-sighted.  He should listen to criticism.  It's great that there's an event you like.  However, the Athletic Department should try to accomodate as many fans and alums as feasibly possible.  Doing something different doesn't mean they have to stop the golf matches.  The more people that get excited about USF sports, the better it is for our school.

I agree, i think Eric, Amabel and the rest of the staff are doing a good job. all im saying is that what works  in Tampa might not do as well down here. To be honest in this area (Miami-FTL-WPB) we need to increase the number of participants. Im sure the UM game will help that. I look forward to helping the Athletic dept in any way to increase support in this area.

As long as the criticism is constructive and not just bashing someone personally, keep it coming.  These are suggestions from the same people we want to have involved.  So the suggestion that golf isn't for everyone and that they loved the golf will be valuable as we continue to build.

Cubanbull is right, what works in one area isn't going to work everywhere in the state.  These events may take on completely different forms in various parts of the state and country.

Keep the helpful suggestions coming!  Go Bulls!

If you ever bring an Around the Horns to the San Francisco area, please feel free to keep the golf component!  I'm good for a foursome!

Yeah, I know, when pigs fly...

Eric (et al)...

I never suggested that athletics should drop golf completely... only to de-couple golf from the ATH dinners/receptions.  Obviously the coaches can't attend a dinner/reception with a limited attendance... but not everyone saw the advertisements for ATH as anything other than a golf tournament fundraiser... (maybe it has more to do with how the events are actually marketed than the events themselves)

[Oh, any my suggestion about seperating golf from the dinners was to point out how they might get more attendance. For example, (if I remember correctly) USF had to combine the Pinellas and Hillsborough ATH events because of a lack of interest... they might have had more interest if one was a dinner only (Pinellas) and the other was golf & dinner.]

Lee Roy Selmon, Vicky Mitchell, Eric Soncrant and the others involved with raising funds for athletics are all doing a great job... I can't wait until I am making enough $$ to become a major donor, that's for sure...

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
