With 10 starters out, UF may not be a problem, but I'd love to see the Noles hurt the Tide.

These FCS games are nearly worthless. You risk catastrophic injury (see Grothe, Matt) for what, exactly? A frigging glorified scrimmage?

Stony Brook, allegedly, is getting $425k for the game. I don't think they get the $ if they forfeit.

I think they're a major source of income for these lower tier schools' athletic departments ...

Like the Super Bowl if you're a Stony Brook fan. A laughable exercise in nonsense if you're a USF fan.

For someone who has evidently pined for greater stature for USF (through the OCS route, that I've seen ... the OCS will magically make us a better program), you seem to forget that we used to get pay days like that from bigger schools. A good portion of that probably helped pay for the facilities we DO have.

A good portion of that probably helped pay for the facilities we DO have. AND, we won a number of them. I believe the game we won @Pitt in 2001 was for a paycheck. The games we won @Auburn and @ND certainly were. I read that UCONN recently accepted $1 million+ for some future OOC away game. I don't recall the name of that school. So, I presume USF could be able to get that same amount if they chose. Does anybody know what Texas is paying USF for the 2nd game @Texas in the 2-1 series? In that case, we at least get one home game, even though the payout for the 2nd game @Texas is probably a lot less than if we had just scheduled one game over there.
