Then, when the confirmation arrived I found out that I had booked in at the Hyatt Regency in Birmingham UK! At first they refused to cancel the reservation and that I would have to pay the full amount. However, after speaking to a supervisor who contacted the Hyatt in England, I was granted a complete cancellation refund. We finally ended up making reservations at the historic Cobb Lane Bed & Breakfast in downtown Birmingham, ALABAMA! PS. As to the Hyatt Regency in Birminham, Ala, I did check with them directly. They told me that they only had one room available which was a suite for $600+/day. Well, my saga continues. It's a good thing I called Cobb Lane B & B directly, because they said they would not honor my reservation, since they were already sold out when I made it through Booking.com. I am open to hotel suggestions, for one room for two nights in Birmingham. Edited December 6, 2016 by Mama_Bull

The Hyatt does not appear to be booked; try these links: https://wynfrey.regency.hyatt.com/hyatt/reservations/roomsAndRates.jsp?language=en&xactionid=158d6822dfd&isFromHICBookingValidator=HIC&_requestid=1058814 https://wynfrey.regency.hyatt.com/en/hotel/home.html If it is booked, the Sheraton is also a good option. The team luncheon is there on Wednesday and its within walking distance to Uptown where the pep rally and street fest will be taking place. Price is reasonable. Its a ways off from Dreamland and Five Points(as is the Hyatt), but there will be complimentary shuttles from Uptown (where Sheraton is located) to both of those locations. http://birminghambowl.com/fan-guide.php

We've been to Birmingham before and I know those fine hotels. In fact, as I mentioned above,I tried booking at the Hyatt Regency earlier in the day. This time, we ultimately decided on a smaller place and was able to get a smoking room with a king size bed. I didn't even realize that smoking was still permitted in some hotels. Of course, if we don't win, we likely will end up at Burger King instead.
