  1. Per Greg Auman: In other lineup news, sophomore Kenneth Durden and senior Brandon Salinas will open the season as USF's starting cornerbacks -- Salinas is a walk-on who was placed on scholarship on Saturday night. Sophomore Zack Bullock has edged fellow sophomore Tashon Whitehurst for the starting nod at strongside linebacker. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/here-it-is-matt-floyd-is-usfs-starting-qb/2138177
  2. Okay, our head coach was a quarterback; WKU retired his number, I think. Anyway, I'll trust him on this. GO BULLS!
  3. It's all about money. If you are Alabama, you take your bag of money and grab an NFL coach and then be an instant National Champion. If you are a USF, you go after an up-and-coming coach. CWT was one of the top candidates in that pool of names at the hiring time. Skip was a lateral move that didn't pan out because it was Leavitt's system and he couldn't repeat what Leavitt was able to do (motivate, recruit, etc.). I'm sure Skip is still in awe of Leavitt right now: "Dang, that guy did something amazing in Tampa." What do I like about CWT? 1) He's come in with the attitude of rebuilding the program, which he did at WKU. 2) He's got full understanding of what it takes to win in Florida. (Skip had no freaking clue.) 3) He's been trained properly and he's had a chance to rebuild a program. And he was there when Stanford went through a rebuilding process. He's also getting help from the Harbaughs from afar. 4) He's very likeable and has all the qualities that one looks for, in addition to being connected. Leavitt was basically a loner. Did USF ever have a friend outside of Tampa when he coached the program? Can CWT do it, rebuild USF into a winner? Yes! I give it 88%. This year? Hmmm... I think not.
  4. I love Jim; his voice brings me back to the days when he called the men's basketball games. "Dobras hits a three!!!"
  5. If we have a running game, which I think we will, the QB position will not be a problem. Ultimately, I think it's going to be the depth at corner and the defense against the passing game. If we have that covered, we'll be a good team (good as in making a bowl). Will we score a lot of points? Probably not. Impotent offense? Nothing like last year after B.J. got hurt. Remember, we've never had any kind of running game since Andre Hall.
  6. I think this is what's going to happen: 1) Somebody rises to the top Or 2) Coach cuts down on the number of plays and goes with the best QB we have (the one that messes up the least). I'm thinking it's going to be #2. And so I think it's going to be Bench or Mike White. You take your best player and then lead him along and add in more plays as the season progresses.
  7. Say, do you Bulls think the QBs we have now on the roster are better than Pat Julmiste as a starter?
  8. Greg Auman â€@gregauman 17m USF running backs coach Telly Lockette said tonight he expects both Darius Tice and Sta'fon McCray to play this fall. Still much to learn. ----------------------------- GO BULLS!
  9. The bad thing with having a USF plate is I really have to control myself when I want to give the finger while driving!
  10. Head Coach: 7.5 Offensive Coordinator: 4 Defensive Coordinator: 7 (for the NFL coaching experience) Quarterbacks/Passing Game Coordinator: 4 Running Backs Coach: 7 (excellent high school coaching experience) Wide Receivers Coach: 7 (lots of experience) Defensive Line Coach: 6.5 Defensive Backs Coach: 10 (South Carolina, LSU, Bucs... enough said) Linebackers Coach: 6 Special Teams Coach: 5 Strength and Conditioning Coach: 7.5 -------------------------------------------- I think positionally, CWT will indeed be very involved with the offense, as brought in people that's he's worked with at WKU. Defensively, I think we are going to be solid with the coaches there. http://www.gousfbulls.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=7700&SPID=2981&SPSID=37329
  11. QB: I don't think there's been a year when we returned from the summer with more questions. Still no answers. RB: I'm more concerned now that I've not heard about the freshmen tearing it up. Shaw is 5-9, 178 lbs. How long can we "pound the rock" with his size this season? OL: Not a lot of experience. WR: It's great to hear about the DBs making plays and grabbing interceptions. It does make me worry about our WRs.
  12. Let's see what you Bulls think when it comes to our football coaching staff. How do you rank them from 0-10, with ten being the best in college football and 0 as not college football ready. Head Coach: Offensive Coordinator: Defensive Coordinator: Quarterbacks/Passing Game Coordinator: Running Backs Coach: Wide Receivers Coach: Defensive Line Coach: Defensive Backs Coach: Linebackers Coach: Special Teams Coach Strengths and Conditioning Coach:

  14. We all judge the team and the coaching staff after the season. What would be your standards for the following? Underachieved: Average: Overachieved: Sat, Aug 31 McNeese State Sat, Sep 7 at Michigan State Sat, Sep 14 Florida Atlantic Sat, Sep 28 Miami (FL) Sat, Oct 5 Cincinnati Sat, Oct 12 at Connecticut Sat, Oct 26 (13) Louisville Thu, Oct 31 at Houston Sat, Nov 16 Memphis Sat, Nov 23 SMU Fri, Nov 29 at UCF Sat, Dec 7 at Rutgers
  15. The UConn team that Randy Edsall took to the Fiesta Bowl. http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/div_ia/bigeast/connecticut/2010-2014_yearly_results.php I really respected how they played team ball. If we could play like that team this year, I'd be thrilled.
  16. Best of luck to him. I'm sure he will be fine. As for our team, this is what we want; we want the players who are going to be a part of the new commitment. Heart is what wins -team heart! GO BULLS!
  17. For me, this is why Firefly works and the new Star Wars movies (post-Empire Strikes Back) stunk for me; the characters drive the story and not the technology. Plus, the odds are always heavily against them but they keep going.
  18. I overdosed on the whole series and the movie in one day, so my brain's been trying to digest it all. Anyway, what made me love it so much is that it is as if somebody made a series out of Star Wars -the concept of Han Solo, Luke, Leia and a few others as they carry illegal cargo from one planet to another. None of the Star Treks could achieve this, and I've seen them all. Leave it to Fox to destroy television art.

  20. Thanks! One of my favorite lines: "I hope the hoors look better than the hoorhouse!" (Yes, I know how to spell that word.)
  21. I had heard it had a cult following, so I started watching it today on the second computer screen while I worked. Holy cow, that's one EXCELLENT series. It brought me back to the days when I was hooked on the old Battle Star Galactica -the original. Just great storytelling with people you care about.
  22. What are you Bulls hanging your hats on as the reason(s) for all your football optimis? Here are mine: (1) CWT: The Harbaugh-family football magic. (2) Newness: everything is new! (3) USF pride: we are getting back to basics starting this season -kicking butt and taking names!
