  1. I think the three teams are so similar. I'd like for us to become more like Mississippi State. They make people turn the ball over and they can also shoot from the outside. We need an identity. Right now, we don't have one. What is it that we do really well?
  2. It's okay. All this means is that we need to beat a ranked team or two this year. Go Bulls!
  3. It's great that three of their beeches have two fouls. Any of them pick up another in the second half and he's going sit. Andre Applewhite Colin Borchert Craig Sword
  4. This is a better gamecast. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/south-florida-bulls-mississippi-state-bulldogs-201312220366/ Let's take them in the second half. Go Bulls!
  5. I just watched the USF-Cal NCAA Tournament beat down from AC's freshman year. THE MAN IS HURT. He was lightning fast back then. He was just a blur on the court. Now, he's 1/2 of his old speed.
  6. A long time ago, I saw a well-known USF football player at a Greyhound bus station. We were both catching buses. He didn't know me. I almost yelled out, "Go Bulls!" but decided against it. LOL Later on, I ran into him and he said never to tell anyone I saw him there. LOL. Add that to your list of places not to yell out, "Go Bulls!"
  7. I know we have some lines out there, but will we sign a RB? Sorry, I've not kept up and I don't know. Thanks!
  8. This is a huge game for us. It's a road game with a neutral crowd and no TV. It's all about our players' desire and heart. I've seen Mississippi State and they are not better than us. But they have what we've been missing, zip and team effort. Like the 'Bama game, this one is very important. I guess it's USF radio and online stats. I may need to get drunk if we lose this one...
  9. Great story and even a better Bull! Save that money, Mistral.
  10. We are favored... Hmmmm USF vs. FGCU W 68 - 66 Mississippi St. vs. FGCU W 66 - 53 USF vs. Florida A&M W 73 - 70 Mississippi St. vs. Florida A&M W 78 - 65 This game scares me to death.
  11. Saturday, October 13, 2001 For the first time since 1998, South Florida celebrated the beginning of basketball season with Bull Madness. Friday night at the Sun Dome, the USF men's and women's teams held their first scrimmages of the season at midnight, and the men put on a dunking exhibition. It was the culmination of two hours of festivities in front of a crowd of about 3,000. Among the highlights: a skit by the USF women's team to a medley of songs, including Beat It, featuring junior guard Aiya Shepherd as Michael Jackson. Sports radio and television host Jim Rome, a longtime friend of men's coach Seth Greenberg, was featured in a videotaped segment in which he predicted, "This is the year the Bulls bust out and make their mark nationally." Rome added that Memphis coach John Calipari would regret returning to the college ranks after playing the Bulls this season. Greenberg addressed the crowd and urged that "every game should be Midnight Madness." Both teams will hold their first practices of the season today. After limping to a 4-7 finish down the stretch last season, finishing 18-13 and getting snubbed by the NCAA (as expected) and the NIT (not expected), the menare poised for a run at the NCAA Tournament. Without question, making it to the elusive event is the Bulls ' overarching - and attainable - goal. At least that's the what the players say. Greenberg prefers to talk in more generic terms, about things like playing hard every day and continuing to move forward, rather than about specific goals. "We need to continue to improve," said Greenberg, who is 74-73 in five seasons at USF, 35-27 the past two years. "We need to continue to elevate the program. Those are our expectations." Senior forwards B.B. Waldon (17.1 points a game, 7.2 rebounds) and Altron Jackson (18.9 points, 4.9 rebounds) are the dual axis around which USF basketball success revolves. A pair of senior standouts is rare in this era of players jumping to the pros early, but Greenberg has the luxury of two experienced, legitimate go-to guys. "It's one thing to have two guys like that fighting for (the ball), but they're both really unselfish," Greenberg said of his two players, who have averaged more than 35 points combined each of the past two seasons. "Both guys don't need a lot of touches. They find ways to score. "B.B.'s more Mr. Inside and Altron's more Mr. Outside, but they both have the ability to draw the defense, which is really going to make it easier for the other guys." USF graduated four senior forwards, Chonsey Asbury, Cedric Smith, Sam Sanders and Artha Reeves, veterans who were critical components on defense and support players on offense. Jackson, Waldon and junior point guard Reggie Kohn, a two-year starter, should assume the leadership roles. Picking up much of the rest of the slack will be junior college transfer Greg Brittian, sophomore Jimmy Baxter and freshman Kelvin Brown. Freshmen Brandon Brigman (6-8, 257) and Marlyn Bryant (6-3, 203), and redshirt freshman Terrence Leather (6-9, 214), a Tampa Robinson graduate, also are possible factors at forward, and 5-10 freshman Brian Swift should push Kohn at the point. The three-headed center rotation of senior Mike Bernard, junior Will McDonald and sophomore Gerrick Morris returns. Brittian (6-6, 225) is the newcomer to watch. He signed with the Bulls out of Mount Dora High two years ago but did not qualify academically. As a freshman at Central Florida Community College he averaged 15.8 points; last season he improved to 19.4. "I've known him since he was 11 and I was 12, we always met up at Florida Southern camp back home," said Waldon, who is from Lakeland. "He's like a little brother to me. I know how he can play. He'll make a big move for this team." Baxter, the 6-5 former Boca Ciega star, and Kelvin Brown , a 6-7 slasher from Fort Lauderdale Dillard, have the athleticism to be lock-down defenders and are part of the reason Greenberg plans to apply full-court pressure frequently. "We want to attack on both sides of the court as much as possible," Greenberg said. "We think this year we have the ability to do that. We think we have an athletic and deep roster." Waldon was ranked the nation's 30th best overall senior by Recruiting USA and 42nd nationally by Prep Stars Recruiters' Handbook and is USF's most highly regarded recruit since Charlie Bradley in 1981. Waldon chose USF over Florida , Florida State, Alabama and West Virginia because of its location and basketball program. Jackson was rated among the nation's top 150 players by Recruiting USA. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Kelvin Brown, who averaged 19 points and 14 rebounds as a senior, was one of USF's most heralded recruits. He was among 100 finalists for the McDonald's All-American team. He was rated the state's fourth-best and nation's 20th-best small forward by national recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons. Brown led Dillard to Class 6A state titles as a junior and senior, while earning state tournament MVP honors both seasons.
  12. Might have been a homeless guy who picked up one of those Jim-Leavitt donated shirts that went to Goodwill. "Why don't they just give me beer money instead of yelling at me. No respect!"
  13. 1) It's being played on Sunday night in America. @ 8 P.M. Eastern. 2) Both USF and Mississippi State do not have any sort of video options offered, just radio broadcasts. I guess what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
  14. I watch other teams and they don't have our problems. I think against FAMU was the first time that I can remember somebody (Victor) taking jumpers. They seem to do two things: Go inside the paint or shoot from outside. We seldom do the 7 to 10-foot shots. I don't know. I think we get blown out by Mississippi State. I can easily see it as a 15-20 point loss.
  15. The next game is a big test for our guys. Beat Mississippi State and this team has a chance to do well, maybe make the dance. Lose to Mississippi State and it's finger pointing time. I watched Mississippi State and they are not more talented than us, but they play with a lot more effort. And they play better team basketball. Is there no TV or computer broadcast for the game?
  16. I've been watching them and it's good to hear what some of the players say after a game, as well as what CSH says. There are other videos in the collection also. http://www.gousfbulls.com/
  17. How weird was it to see Musa's twin on the FAMU side? I didn't know about him; I hadn't read anything. Anyway, the first time I saw a glimpse the twin, I thought I was seeing things! Thank goodness the announcers started talking about the issue. I would have needed medication!
  18. Oh, Hawkins looked good tonight. That was nice to see. He has no business taking threes, though. --Give that up, man!
  19. Did you see how we lost to Detroit? I've seen glimmers of that same USF team ever since that game and it scares me. Lady Luck has been on our side; I'd hate to see what happens when she leaves. But give credit to FAMU. They played really well tonight. They are better than their record indicates.
  20. I think the game will be with a margin of under 8 pts. I hope it's for our side!
  21. I hate myself for getting pumped up, but I can't help myself. When AC came back, it's a completely different team; it's got a brain. Yup, when AC is not playing, the team seems to be just a bunch of bodies. With AC, they are so much more organized. Granted, the defense isn't there yet. Hopefully, with the past week off and with tonight's game, they can get the D worked out. And it looks like we have another offensive threat with Correy Allen Jr. Oh, boy... I hate to say it, but we could Dance this year!
  22. I just watched some of last year's game. It's still on ESPN3 -just do a South Florida search. I feel much better about this year's game now. Of course, they are much better this year, also. 1) We will slow the game down for sure. I like what our coaches did defensively. We kept them contained; we didn't play the running game. 2) We have a lot more bodies and talent this year. 23. I think it comes down to this: do we play individual basketball or team basketball? OSU will beat us like a rag doll if we try to play their game; they are so fast. We need to slow it wayyy down and play ugly basketball. Though, I'm still not sure what we do on the offense when it's slowed down. I think our bigs are too young for set plays inside the paint.
