  1. Better to care and be in pain, than to not care at all. This is our downtime, we'll be back. When Leavitt was fired, I almost went insane. I mean I was ready to take all my USF gear and burn it all in big fire, really. Now, I'm in foreign territory with this new pain.
  2. I just need a reminder that this is somehow better than praying for football to start at USF. Anybody? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://deadspin.com/the-petty-thin-skinned-bravado-of-bo-pelini-125-fbs-t-1341874082 118. SOUTH FLORIDA (0–3). South Florida doesn't want to talk about it. 119. MIAMI (OHIO) (0–2). 120. WESTERN MICHIGAN (0–2). 121. IDAHO (0–3). 122. FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL (0–3). So awesome of FIU to fire a respected coach other schools actually tried to away, in order to hire an aging retread who just led them to a three-touchdown loss to Bethune-Cookman. 123. MASSACHUSETTS (0–3). 124. NEW MEXICO STATE (0–3). Through three games, the Aggies have allowed 142 points, putting them on pace to allow more points than any team in Division I history. 125. GEORGIA STATE (0–3). Off back-to-back losses to Samford and Chattanooga by a combined 38 points, only losing by 34 at West Virginia counts as progress. Just two weeks till the Panthers' much-anticipated showdown with Alabama.
  3. I think as coaches they all know what kind of a team they had going into the season. But the one thing that has shocked them the most have been the turnovers. When a team is bad, giving away the ball & free points just add fresh salt to the bleeding.
  4. I knew what he did with the football program was incredible when it was all happening in front of my eyes. I mean before Leavitt, USF was a ghost town in terms of sports fun, pride, and whatever else. Then USF football, and then he got us to #2 in the land in the polls. Sure, when we can't even beat FAU, getting to #2 in the polls was pretty cool. We skipped right by all the growing pain, or so it seemed; we never went through anything like we've been enduring for the last eight or so USF football games. I love that man -not for who he is but for what he did for my beloved school. No one will ever have the same impact again, ever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, for me now, it's all about hanging tough as a Bull. I swear the hurricane was over. Apparently not. Things will get better! My car tag will still USF is #1 with pride. Go Bulls!
  5. Greg Auman â€@gregauman 12m Just a note to readers: After 9 years covering USF, I'm moving over next week to join Times' Bucs/NFL coverage. FAU game will be my last. --------------- Wow. This is terrible for us; we are losing one of the best reporters to have ever covered USF sports. Happy Meter: -100
  6. The first game dropped our jaws. But if we pretend that game didn't happen or if USF had won in a close game, the MSU result was about what most of us had expected prior to the start of this season. (Going back to before the start of the season) 1) We knew MSU had a good defense 2) USF was going to have offensive issues. 3) MSU is at home. No sane Bull would have believed 100% USF was going to come out of the game with a win. So, I think we are on schedule. Here's why. 1) We do have some good RBs. 2) The defense is our strength. 3) Offensively, we are just like when B.J. got hurt last year. The bus is back on the road... It's a long ride. Go Bulls!
  7. This is why Leavitt installed the offense we were familiar with. Change comes at a price. Can't getaway without paying.
  8. I'll take zero wins for the rest of the year if we start either Bench or White.

  10. I want to see how the coaching staff responds after last week. It's all on them to either put Humpty Dumpty (the team) together or not. If we see another Three-Stooges performance (sorry, Moe!) from our team, it's going to be a longgg rebuilding process. It's time for the CWT and the rest of the coaching staff to #do something#
  11. Making the NCAA's this season would heal a lot of wounds. Show me the money, Coach Heath! (Yes, it's a really old movie and I've never seen it, but I do love the line!)
  12. Sure, there are letdowns in sports, and we've gone through all of that as fans -of any sport. However, when the roof falls in, and even though it was just one game, it deserved the fans' wrath; I appreciate those fans because I don't have it in me to go that far. Without those extreme fans, every sort of mediocrity is acceptable. This is the old USF that I grew up with; we had none of the fans who would stand up for the school's pride. Do you know why I disliked how Skip coached? He never got mad at anybody, and everything was okay, always saying, "they competed." Leavitt, he was whacked out enough to make your forehead bleed! (Okay, yes, he went too far at times...) But that's what it takes to not roll over and get slaughtered like a manatee on your own home turf. Anyway, my point is that I appreciate the fans who didn't take it siting down like me. A little "too far" isn't all that bad when a new low was established for our football program. ------------------- I'm ready to move on with the season now. GO BULLS!!!!
  13. I wish your son full recovery and I hope his future remains at maximum brightness. And thank you, Brad, for sharing and for helping me remember what's most important.
  14. Okay, even Vegas didn't see it coming. So, what happened? Here's what happened. 1) Everything is new. When you first put together new machinery, there's a good chance it malfunctions. It did. 2) The guys had been practicing too hard --getting up at 3 a.m. for practice? I think game time was relax time. 3) Weaknesses overshadowed strengths. Plus, freebies with turnovers. 4) Too complicated! Sounds great with all the formations, etc., but maybe they don't do it in college because kids can't run it well --especially when it backfires like it did. --------------------------------- The question now is what is at the core of this new USF team? The weaknesses aren't going to go away. But can the strengths overcome the challenges? --And do we have any strengths? This weekend is going to answer a lot of questions.
  15. I'm just kidding. Yes, a lot of pain brings out the worst effort at jest. I thought Vegas was going to lose another guy (killed by the mob!) when they came up with that point spread but I didn't say anything. Anyway, hang in there, Bulls. I am. Now that we've seen the worst (I sure as he11 hope so!), things can only get better from here on. GO BULLS! I BULLIEVE IN CWT 100%!!!
  16. I was in the old soccer stadium for the first-ever scrimmage. Yup, USF football is something that's pretty special to me. Killed me when Holtz almost destroyed it.
  17. It's all fine and dandy now. But lose a few games and "fire somebody" threads start appearing. We are in a rebuilding season and I hope everybody is patient. Remember, we lost to just about anybody last year. And then we had no starter QB, no starter RB, and the secondary was bare. USF football is in a fragile ["fra--gile" that's Italian!] state now and will probably need one more year. GO BULLS!
  18. I know the first game hasn't been played and who knows how this team will be. BUT! What do you think the best things about our team when clicking on all cylinders? And what about the worst? Okay, to clarify, what I mean is with the make up of the team and the type of offense and defense that's going to be used, what will we look like at our best and at our worst? For example, are we going to see 50yd tosses down the field? Reverses? Or is it real conservative stuff? On defense, blitzes or just laid back stuff? Are we going to get through to the QBs this year? What about stuffing the run? I've got no clue what to expect.
  19. My favorite new player (based on recruiting stars & reputation alone) didn't break into the line up: Kennard Swanson. And I thought for sure Bench would be starting. Tells what I know!
  20. I'm glad we have Bench on board. I'm from the camp that says Floyd didn't become a Matt Grothe or B.J. Daniels since the spring. Fingers crossed. Let's move forward!
  21. One thing for sure, B.J. has heart; the man never gives up on a play. You want that in your QB. I bet that alone gives him an edge. Yeah, a lot of people have heart but not at B.J.'s level.
