  1. After reading the article, I think the young man deserves another chance. I like stories like this.
  2. This is a good read. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2012/10/09/michael-dyer-auburn-arkansas-state-arkansas-baptist/1622771/
  3. Okay, this whole thing seems mysterious to me. 1) Greg couldn't dig up anything. To me, this means it's all being kept very quiet @ USF. 2) Let's assume Schad's tweet is correct, and who 2000bull saw was indeed Dyer. Then, yes, he did visit. 3) He took a visit, which means both parties were seriously interested on paper prior to the meeting. Possibilities: A) It went well for both sides. This means Dyer could be here very soon. B )It went badly. We will never hear anything from the USF side. My guess is that if Dyer is coming to USF, we will hear something by this weekend. I give this an 82% chance of him coming to USF. Why? If USF had a problem at all, either from CWT or his bosses, there would not have been a visit. Wildcards: 1) something snags in the admissions paperwork, such as a course doesn't transfer, etc. [i don't know! pure speculation] 2) another school steps in and Dyer sees a better deal elsewhere. 3) after the visit, USF talked it over and decided that it's too risky. 4) after the visit, Dyer doesn't want to put with the USF requirements.
  4. Let's be silly! In a death match involving all four men, who do you take at their best? Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Donnie Yen (Ip Man actor).
  5. How long do you think Leavitt had to build USF from when things first started? There was a deadline back then, too. (We could have been stuck in I-AAAAA forever.) I like our chances now! --GO BULLS!
  6. Here’s why I’m excited about what’s going on with USF Athletics. USF didn’t become engaged in college athletics until some short years ago, as compared to the rest of the college world. Heck, our school started in 1956. I know it’s tough to be in a state where Miami, florida, and Florida State are the dynasties. But remember this: those programs were winning championships when we didn’t even have football. As for men’s basketball, we had almost nothing in terms of facilities and funding. Now, yes, we aren’t in the Big East. Fine. Time to move on and accept reality. But it doesn’t mean doom and gloom. Me, I see excitement! USF had the gonads to fire a Skip Holtz. That in itself is huge move, a paradigm shift. USF isn’t paying $9.99 for coaches anymore. Facilities: we’ve got them now. Sweetness! Funding: we have about five years worth of fuel for some greatness building at USF Athletics. We had a lot more to overcome when Leavitt was hired and when he watched the cement posts dry. We are on the cusp of a huge leap forward! If you look at the current football coaching staff and compare them to when Leavitt started out, I think you will recognize the upgrade at all positions. Football put USF on the map, and football is going to take us to our next destination: a power conference invite! As for men's basketball, we finally have the facilities now. Amen to that. GO BULLS!
  7. Man, talk about an active summer (if we do land Dyer!). This would make me smile! Right now, I'm at peace after getting Bench.
  8. That subject line of mine had a double meaning: 1) Yes, it's very funny. Maybe the funniest, I don't know. 2) But it also shows that they are having fun --the most fun I've seen between a coach and player.
  9. I'm sure Greg will be on this very soon --that is if there's something to the story. Yes, this guy can make us a viable threat this year! I think he's worth the risk. There are people with more baggage playing for top college teams right now. If he's clean with the law, I don't see why he can't get another chance at USF.
  10. It's all a rumor! The guy could have been in Tampa to do something else. https://twitter.com/schadjoe
  11. I grew up on the Saturday Kung Fu movies on the USA Network back in the day. I love the stuff. But I must admit the quality has gone out of genre in term of movie stars. And I think it's due to so many bad movies. And then David Carradine didn't help matters any with how he died. For another Bruce Lee the person would have to earn respectability in the octagon, and then transfer that into great acting and good movies. Too many variables. Oh, don't forget the person must also speak good English!
  12. If CWT is okay with him playing for USF, I'm good with the decision. http://rivals.yahoo.com/auburn/football/recruiting/player-Michael-Dyer-72082;_ylt=AqwTGLnTkYZfI0e7FbWceU45rJB4 This is, of course, all based on a tweet...
  13. I must admit the pic reminded me that it's all for fun (USF Athletics); that's why I like it so much.
  14. As I recall, the big games the we lost during the Leavitt days, it was the defense that failed. With Holtz, I remember not being able to score and letting people score at will at times. I think we can conclude the following: 1) The Big East had talented coaches. 2) Leavitt employed a football scheme that couldn't handle a well-coached team with talent: The Sun Bowl! 3) We were always short on depth. Yes, we had talent but not at every position. 4) Our assistants were not the best; we couldn't afford them. 5) The same system, Leavitt made it work better than Holtz. It wasn't Holtz system, so he failed. He's probably a pretty coach under a different system (I don't know about this part). Leavitt probably maxed out the success with his system (mobile QB, athletes everwhere and playing with intense emotions). Looking back, could we have won more important games? I think so. The defense failed at the worst times during the Leavitt days. As for Holtz, he was doomed from the start. This is why I'm very optimistic about our new staff. It's a new system and we are going after talent, not just athletes. It may not be instant success, but I think this is the only way to go.
  15. If you like Bruce Lee, you need to see "Ip Man," which is about Bruce's teacher. It's a great fighting movie. I finnally watched "Kung Fu Hustle" the other day -very entertaining.
  16. We didn't do well in the Big East in men's basketball because we didn't have enough talent. That was our #1 problem. But when it comes to football, do you think talent has been what's held us back in the last five years (the last two years of Leavitt and all of Skip's tenure)? For example, when we were ranked #2, I thought for sure we were going to clean up and just explode. Nope! Parts of me says that we never got enough talent to overcome the depth and talent we needed at the key positions. But the other part of me blames coaching. For example, I always felt that Rutgers outcoached Leavitt. But then Leavitt schooled ucf, and their coach is a decent Xs & Os guy. Anyway, poor coaching or not enough talent at USF (no Big East titles under Leavitt, and Skip's destructions of the program)? This leads to this current issue: can our current coach do both better (recruit and coach) than the last two coaches?
  17. Mark it down. This is how it's going to shape up! 1) Coach Taggart has rebuilt USF and we are in a power conference -the ACC. 2) USF just lost its head coach to an NFL team. Bulls fans are all scrambling and screaming. We have a new Athletics Director; he months into the job and quite young. Replacing Taggart is a huge task for him. Yes, we have a few bowl trophies in the case, but it doesn't matter now without a head coach. 3) Men's basketball has returned to the NCAA's two more times. But we just finished up a terrible season in the ACC. Welcome to the woodshed II. 4) Funding for an on-campus stadium is almost complete. We are one year away from the start of construction.
  18. 6 years from now: 1) Conference, any changes for USF? 2) What's going on with football? Any successes? 3) What about Men's basketball? Have we made it back to the Dance? 4) Any other changes?
  19. FSU is not making enough cash in the ACC as it is/was. With the incoming teams, I think the pie can only be smaller. Also, all that money for the Big 12 (with 10 teams) is not going to hold up: they are not that strong to be producing that much money and somebody will gripe (sponsors & TV). So... Give it one more season or two and things are going to shake and bake. 1) We need to perform well for the next few years. Gotta get the crowd numbers up. 2) Somebody's going to rattle and shake. When it's all about money, it's going to happen. 100% certain. 3) USF needs to be poised for that time. We cannot be the flag bearer & face for the AAC.
  20. No post season and I'm joining the dark side. I don't care what kind of post season, even if it's just the outside courts at USF, just get us into one.
  21. The gradutation rate is about 25% (actually less) for all incoming freshmen at universities. This good is a sample of those who will not graduate!
  22. Hey, Bulls, share with us what Brad's done for you with the operation of the site since day 1 (for you). [What if the site never existed?]
