  1. Looking past the negative aspect to the article, it sounds like Strong is making the right impression upon the local coaches. That is huge for us in the future, especially if he can sustain the success we've had recently.
  2. I mean he's been around so long he probably coached Jesus That's a good point though. Maybe he let the assistants go out more than he did.
  3. Well, with that Robinson comment, seems to be a little more than just smoke. And those are local programs. We got Bell from HHS, does make you wonder if Carter would have been more in reach if his coach was more on our side.
  4. So Taggart was winning games and getting recruits in the area while being a DBag? Basically recruiting with ankle weights?
  5. I can agree with that. Another thing Strong inherits is the classes Taggart had the past couple of years. Will be interesting to see if guys like Craig Watts earn a spot in the depth chart.
  6. I think Marcellus could see playing time by mid season. I like MVS to fill in that role Adams leaves behind, and I think the RB Depth chart will just move up a guy to DJ, Tice, and then Sands.
  7. I don't think you guys need to worry much further. The rest of the guys are locked into the school. We lost a few guys, but we will be fine. I don't think any of Floregon kids would have had an immediate impact. And Strong will find plenty of guys who fit their types in the next class. A good sized runner, A tall possession receiver, A small but speedy option.
  8. Yeah what I was alluding to in the beginning of this thread was his funky visit dates. 25-27th would have also been peculiar, he would have just as well came here that weekend and went to Gasparilla.
  9. Per some paywall information, he's got an interesting visit setup too.
  10. It's a little bit of both. Taggart shouldn't have been so absolute about his players, and Gonzmart shouldn't be so naive about Ybor. It's little secret. the later it gets the worse the area becomes. Like they said in "How I Met Your Mother", "Nothing good happens after 2AM"
  11. I mean what happened with 2007? Teams lost, we won. Yes, we had 2 top 25 wins (including #5 WVU), but teams lost, and we jumped them as we kept winning. If we're already ranked from the get go, we're going to get a bump or two up if we keep winning and other teams lose. To a point where we'll reach that top 10 or so where, if they play each other they may not get bumped much and we'll have to depend on back to back losses or something. Like with TAMU this past year or Tennessee.
  12. One of the things that was benefiting our defense towards the end was the defense rotating more guys in. Reason being, it gave our starters a little more rest. Now, one of the big things for our offense was the ability to hit those big plays. we had many drives of under a minute or two primarily because one play would go for 40+ and a TD, thus putting the defense back on the field already. Strong can't change (nor would any coach want to) Mack or Flowers or whoever busting the defense wide open. Our guys are talented and should be able to make things move regardless. Catching people off guard is only but one part of the equation. we can slow it down a little. Doesn't mean the offense moves at a crawl. Strong is a defensive-minded coach, so it makes sense for him to want to look at ways to improve that side of the ball. This is a way to improve performance behind the X's and O's.
  13. Strong will be able to have limited phone contact during the dead period, if I read correctly from something Josh Newberg had said on Bulls247. Judson was offered by Oregon, that means zero about commitment. As mentioned, Judson has decommitted from several schools. Check his offer sheet, it includes some various names. One of which was Ohio State, which was because he felt he was snubbed by Urban Meyer during a visit there. Point being, Wait to see what he does after Strong has had a chance to sit down and get to know him. One of the reasons our recruiting class has lost some footing in the rankings is that we did have a couple of decomits after Taggart left. That's okay. You also have to consider there's still roughly a month and a half (more like two) until signing day. Coach has plenty of time to hit the ground running with his people. Taggart himself was hired right around this same time last year-- his intro conference was Dec 8th, 2012. And look at what he turned his first class into. We've been working on CJ Cotman, Antwan Owens, AJ Davis, and some other kids. If the new squad can pull any one of those the class will go up in "rankings", especially Cotman or Davis.
  14. People still play it on the Xbox! edit: The roster setup at the beginning of the year actually gave us a pretty decent team. Offense is like 89-90 rated and defense is like 84 or something.
  15. Well in one hand, if you're from Florida, you have a 'guy' (or girl) who gets you in there for free anyway. Or sells you entry on the cheap. On the other, O'liar never did recruit much of Florida, so they probably don't know anyone there anyway.
  16. A good coach only needs 4 or more recruits to get those extra points in NCAA 14. Let's do it!
  17. Yeah I figured anyone who goes to this page knows who Scott is. While he had a 4-2 record at Miami, I'd love for him to be brought in as an "assistant" HC that could be groomed for a HC job once the HC left. so like if Kiffin brought him on to be the eventual HC that would be nice.
  18. He's referring to The Larry Scott. As in, USF alumni and coach for 8 seasons. Who went to Miami and then to Tennessee when Golden was fired.
  19. And I don't find him in the '76 yearbook either. I've been of the impression that back then pretty much the entire class would be in the yearbook. I could be wrong. Conversely, http://www.usfalumni.org/s/861/02-alumni/index.aspx?sid=861&gid=1&pgid=2186&SearchType=ADVANCED Is a good source for maybe finding him if he was in the Alumni association. A quick look for "Reese" in years 76-78 yielded a '78 alumni named William Reese Dial. Maybe that's him?
  20. Class of '78 yearbook doesn't have a Reese in it. William Henry William Blackwell William Duggan And William Reese I looked for all of those names and didn't find any. This assuming he graduated in 4 years. I'll check '77 and '79 too. (if he graduated HS in '73 I guess I should have checked 77 first) checked '77, there's no William any of those last names. edit two: http://digital.lib.usf.edu/SFS0000003/00010/55j bottom right is a Harvey Reese Jr.. Kinda looks like JimUSF with a mustache maybe?
  21. Most of our guys were there last year. So they remember losing to WKU. I don't think they lose this bowl season. Dropping down due to Temple is fair. Temple has been pretty great at the end of this year.
