  1. OK... I don't know why anyone who knows this team would think we're thin at that position... Danny Thomas, Josh Black, Juwauan Brown, Nick Holeman... all had excellent springs and are had good fall camps. Danny Thomas the true freshman was an early enrollee and had a good spring, he is going to play because he is too good to not play. I'm not sure who's been following but that kid is really really good. We have quality depth there even with these two guys gone. This isn't the same roster we had in terms of depth. These young guys are ready. He recruited LB heaving in his first three classes and now we're seeing why. This would have been huge last season... but this season we are set to absorb it.
  2. Jimmy Bayes is going to take a strangle hold of that position. He's one of those guys we'll see on Sundays. He was the prize recruit in 2014. That kid is a 6'3 230 lb athletic freak... the size of a LB and the speed and agility of a safety. Oh... he can hit, too. I thought he'd win the spot by midseason anyway, they just moved up the timetable.
  3. I honestly think Flowers is the best option for this offense. I think he's going to surprise some folk, too. The are taking the reins off... I think this kid is about to do some things we haven't seen in a long time... see a defense struggle because they have no idea as to what to do with a running QB with weapons. I know we like to focus on what Flowers can do to be successful, but he has some things going in his favor already. I think having backs like Mack, Tice, Johnson and Swanson will make life a lot easier. We have legit weapons on the outside Adams, Bronson, and now it appears McCants is as good as we thought he was coming out of HS. I haven't mentioned Price, Dillion, and Pope at TE. I also feel our oline is a lot better. It appears we're going with 4 Sr and 1 soph. Also our defense should be much improved so there shouldn't be pressure on him to go out and put up 30 points just to keep us in the game. We're not in a situation where we are hoping true freshman can step in and play right away, which says a lot in terms of where the talent level was. This is the first time in a while we haven't had to rely on that. If you really look at this team and how things are unfolding, there is a lot of room for optimism. This is year 3 which historically is the year that guys get it. I also get the idea that this kids are just tired of losing. Solidarity has built strength and it seems these guys have a chip on their shoulders. In other words... I think Flowers is sitting in a pretty good **** spot and if he lives up to half of what I think he can do... so is USF football this season. This is an entirely different team than last season for so many reasons. I expect Flowers to do good things and the Mack, Johnson, and Tice show to be in full effect.
  4. Hopefully he can be Quinton Flowers from Miami Jackson and make plays with his feet and occasionally find open receivers. This!
  5. In two weeks we'll revisit this because I believe Quinton Flowers is about to go ham. It's all about him now and I think he's going to rise to the occasion. We're right on schedule.
  6. That's pretty much where I'm at. Best case scenario is between his legs and Mack, the defense has to give him some wiggle room to throw the ball and he can give us a few plays here and there. Worst case scenario, they dare him to throw and it looks like we're all praying it doesn't. I'm not writing off this season by any stretch, but I'm intrigued going into 2016 with a QB battle with (hopefully) a season under QF's belt to mature. I know some will disagree, but AW is light years ahead of Flowers, even in the best case scenario, throwing the ball. QF better have some serious running ability. I can't argue too differently... the one thing wild card is the kids legs. If he becomes a serious run threat that can just hit a few passes, in this spread it will open up some huge running lanes for Mack, Johnson, and Tice. I also think his mobility helps the offensive line because the defense now HAVE to stay in their lanes. They can't just blindly rush everyone knowing the kid is a really good runner... Like they did to Mike White.
  7. 8-14, 211yds 2TDs 1int 7 rushes for 74yds 1TD
  8. FAMU = USF Win FSU = USF Win MD = USF Win Mem = USF Win Cuse = USF Win Uconn = USF Win SMU = USF Win Navy = USF Win ECU = USF Win Temp = USF Win Cinci = loss UCF = USF Win Title game = USF Win Bowl = can't predict 12-1 Conference Champions
  9. I agree 100%. I hope that swagger comes back like it was when JPP and Selvie were causing ruckus. I will tell you one thing, you put a label on yourselves like the "Bull Sharks," then you %^&* well better not end up looking like flipper out there! Indeed
  10. All this new found BJ Daniels love is awesome considering many of you trashed him while he was here. I believe some said he was also a RB/WR playing QB. I find these comments similarly interesting considering if he has a decent season, you guys will pretend you never said this.
  11. You make it wound like throwing interceptions is no big deal.
  12. It doesn't really matter what I say on the board because whoever he names the starter, I will cheer for. I'd like to think as the coach he knows a little more about the players than we do. I know I get all up in arms but that's just because I like to argue. If Bench is better, he should start. Sometimes guys get it together in their senior year. Also the fact that we have so many more weapons now may change things. I firmly believe this offense changes things if the QB can run and manage the ball... hitting short passes and open guys too. So we'll see. I just hope the best guy gets the job and sometimes there is something to be said about experience. Bench has been ride or die since day 1 at USF. I'll love to see that guy do something great. That's my honesty opinion of the thing.
  13. On a different note... my dog just killed his sixth possum in the past year. I was contemplating taking a pic and posting it but I don't want to offend anyone.
  14. He found one... I get the sarcasm but I really don't consider espn a recruiting service. But he did it and I didn't call it nonsense. He proved me wrong... ok... but he still was recruited as a CB. I think Flowers is capable of the same thing. You don't need to be a passing QB to run this offense. Nick Marshall is actually the perfect example. So even though ESPN says he was a QB and Auburn played him at QB, you believe he was a CB and you're sticking to it? Is Rivals a recruiting service? They have him as DT-QB. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Nick-Marshall-142185 http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/nick_marshall_742377.html <--- does that say.. wait... you didn't even know did you? Started career as a college CB... actually played in games... hmmm And that relates to him being recruited by Auburn to play QB how? Do you even lift, bro? If a CB can run this system, a RB can run this system. And no... I don't lift.
  15. This system requires a QB that run a lot and throw a little and not turn over the ball... it's not rocket science.

  17. If anyone said they wouldn't want Nick Marshall or his numbers that person should be banned. I love how the stats break down your point, your bring up straw-man arguments, and question knowledge. Best sign of a weak argument. Instead of doing the same lets see if this clarifies it for ya a bit... we don't need 20 completions a game to win in this offense. Have you even watched an Auburn game? The year they played FSU for the title, his first year playing QB there... he only once completed more than 17 passes in a game. Stats don't lie.. http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/nick-marshall-2/gamelog/2013/ 10-20 mean anything in between 10 to 20 passes, it could be 10, 11, 12...20. See how that works No one said he was Peyton Manning just a better passer than we have had at USF for several years including what Flowers did last year. See the following: Nick Marshall Passing Rushing Year Team Comp Att Yds TD INT Rate Att Yds Avg TD 2013 Auburn 142 239 1,976 14 6 143.2 172 1068 6.2 12 2014 Auburn 178 293 2,532 20 7 148.7 153 798 5.2 11 Mike White - Career Statistics Passing Rushing Year GP-GS COMP ATT PCT YDS TD INT YDS/G ATT YDS TD 2013 6-5 93 175 53.1 1,083 3 9 180.5 14 -43 0 2014 11-10 122 242 50.4 1,639 8 7 149.0 29 -85 0 Steven Bench - Career Statistics Passing Rushing Year GP-GS COMP ATT PCT YDS TD INT YDS/G ATT YDS TD 2013 7-2 26 64 40.6 392 2 3 56.0 7 -30 0 2014 6-1 49 100 49.0 611 3 2 101.8 16 -15 1 Quinton Flowers - Career Statistics Passing Rushing Year GP-GS COMP ATT PCT YDS TD INT YDS/G ATT YDS TD 2014 5-1 8 20 40.0 111 0 2 22.2 13 73 0 You are literally comparing two different offenses and trying to draw a correlation. The only correlation you will be able to draw would be from this years sample when they would have all been in the same offense. No straw man at all... but you are guilty of a questionable analogy... apples and oranges. I'm beginning to think you don't actually know anything about football. Have you actually ever played football? and been good at it? I agree... I argue nothing I think you're correct. LOL. He just restated the numbers I just posted... Ok I give up... you win Cali... you win... No... If you think you two are saying the same thing you're as stupid as your post Maybe you need to slow down, both reading and your posting.... no need to get petulant. I spent some time to help clear up the misinformation you are putting out on the board. Furthermore we are making similar points: I wrote: 1. Think you are selling NM a little short. If either guy puts up those numbers passing at USF we will be bowling for sure. 2. ...this is the type of production we need 10-20 completions a game with more passing TDs than INTs Sanjay wrote: 1. I would be stunned to see either QB put up Nick Marshall's passing numbers... 2. the one Nick Marshall number I would like to see is the roughly 20 pass attempts a game...and 2:1 and 3:1 TD:INT ratios. I'm saying those numbers aren't spectacular and either should be able to put them up. Nick Marhsall is no passing dynamo is what I'm saying. This offense doesn't need that. Period. Some people think we need andrew luck or some guy of pro potential at the QB position... when in fact sometimes just having a great athlete who can make plays is all you need. I think we potentially have that because of Flowers athleticism. Do I think the guy needs to complete 50-60%% of his passes and not throw ints? yeah... That's stating the obvious... but when people are implying that either of these guys can't do that... I'm like it's not that difficult in this offense if you don't make bad decisions. I've seen Marshall miss wide open targets running downfield. I've seen him short hop a lot of passes... the things you get when your QB is an athlete playing QB. Just like Flowers... It's just Flowers is younger.
  18. If you're asking for a link showing he was a defensive tackle-quarterback, something tells me you'll have a REALLY hard time getting that. DT = Dual Threat
  19. He found one... I get the sarcasm but I really don't consider espn a recruiting service. But he did it and I didn't call it nonsense. 20. I was there on Saturday and totally agree with you. Same situation as last year with QF. He's a RB trying to play QB. Luckily this offense is a college offense and a running QB is ideal. Nick Marshall was a DB being successful as a QB in this system and he couldn't throw at all. Cool right? Yes, but Nick Marshall also became the #1 Dual Threat JUCO QB, so it's hard to compare. Marshall was also about 3 inches taller than Quinton. He was the #1 Dual Threat QB in JUCO? Link please... that should be easy for you to find. Most schools recruited him as a DB even in Juco. Auburn needed a running qb for the system and took him. I mean that's not a hard thing to prove and he being 3 inches taller than Flowers matter when running this offense? I still don't think any of you actually knew what type of spread it was until camp started. I still don't think you understand it. Again, we understand the system. I don't know why you have to act so superior to everyone, like we're morons or something. A lot of people have seen Flowers the last week and just aren't as high on him as you are. I'm hoping he can turn it around in the next 19 days since he'll probably be the starter. Here's the link you wanted: Nick Marshall 6-2, 210 | Class of 2013 HometownPineview, Ga. SchoolGarden City Community College (JC) PositionQuarterback: Dual-threat Status Signed Auburn 01/13/2013 Scout Grade 80 1 POSITION http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/170893/nick-marshall He was Rated as AN ATHLETE ... HE WAS NOT THE NUMBER 1 DUAL THREAT. Jesus do you even follow recruiting? I know his recruitment... Auburn initially had him at DB and moved him. This stuff is all over 247 where you actually got that and misunderstood it. I knew what you were trying to say but you don't follow recruiting so you don't know. And you were wrong... smh This is actually ridiculous. You're just throwing things out without knowing you're proving yourself wrong. uuugggh You asked for a link that stated he was the #1 DT QB and I gave it to you. I don't care what position Auburn wanted to use him as originally. He was being recuited to play QB by top schools in the country. Auburn would've been stupid to use him as a db. Here it is again man: Nick Marshall #1 QB-DT (JC) oh... espn... ok I didn't know that. Every other recruiting service... Scout, Rivals, and 247 had him as an athlete. Here is a little tidbit on his entire college career for perspective. Also he ran the triple option at garden city...never was a passer... that's my point. http://www.hogville.net/yabbse/index.php?topic=556650.100;wap gotta skip down to him but he was a CB at Georgia.
  21. I gotta figure this out... How do you post media... like pics etc? This doesn't seem to want embeds..
