  1. Kirk McEwen who is back in his Baltimore market, that was actually an enjoyable morning show. When they brought in the Jesse Kage guy it went downhill. Tampa is too stupid for good sports radio, the powers that be finally realized it would be more cost effective to pipe in ESPN talking heads and other syndicated trash and most wouldn't be the wiser. Fabulous sports babe? i mean i guess if you liked hearing someone who sounded like they smoked 3 packs a day. never heard her compliment usf and seemed to brush us off the few times i heard her.
  2. Winning this game would allow us to check off at least two things Oviedo State uses against us as a "trash talking point": - finish a season ranked -double digit win season Next year we fill the trophy case with an AAC trophy, and make it 7-2.
  3. I usually skip those because you never know who the heck is who, but I might pencil you in. Heard the mosquito truck from time to time in my old townhouse hood, and I think I've heard them in Long Lake a few times.
  4. I don't think he gets offers from any of those jobs listed in page 1 except maybe Kentucky. I think Taggart is a prime domino though, and given his love of rebuilding, he may opt to take a chance, but with these mid-tier programs, they'd have to really throw some money at him because taking a Purdue or UK job means you not just have a rebuild but you have to rebuild and get past the big dogs like Michigan, Ohio State, and Alabama in those conferences, not easy tasks. First tier is the dumpster fires that he may want to put out: Purdue, Kentucky, Kansas, Boston College The second tier is the "our guy got poached, now we need to poach you" job: UNC, NC State, Louisville The third group is the "we're kind of a decent middle of the road program, we think you have what it takes" job: Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, Arizona, Kansas State, Mississippi State The rest I give no credence to calling Willie, at least not in their Top 5. Yet.
  5. I can agree with this, but even the B1G and ACC were knocked a few years ago for having really bad competition (even after the realignment). Your power teams in the ACC were Virginia Tech, FSU, maybe Georgia Tech and Clemson. Everyone else was mediocre at best. Now, you have resurgence in the last few years with Duke's success, Miami's semi-better-consistency, Clemson and Louisville becoming power teams, and others joining the party like UNC and NC State, and even lil ole Wake Forest this year. The B1G always had their Ohio States and Wisconsin's but the cyclical nature of college sports affects many teams and conferences. It wasn't that long ago that Iowa State was bowl eligible, and teams like OU, Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State were all vying for championships in November with between zero and two losses, even TCU came to the party and crashed it a few times. Kansas State had some strong years, and we all know Kansas had its heyday when USF did, though I think they had a bigger and more sustained fall that has yet to recover. I'd take the Big12 any day. People may not get excited for every game similar to now, but there will be more chances for Big12 teams to have good power years across the conference than there are in the American. I guess what I'm saying is the cyclical nature is more extreme for non Power 5 teams, most of the Big12 schools may go on a 5-7 year tear where they're really good, but AAC teams (some of them, it's yet to be seen with this lineup of teams), may only get that success for 2-4 years (mostly due to coaches being poached and the less frequent great player getting on campus and making a difference for 2-3 years).
  6. Perhaps we can schedule a home and home with Kansas State in the early 2020's when Leavitt is head coach after Snyder retires again.
  7. Depends if TX and OU (if they stick together to the Pac12) truly kick off the ultimate 16 team superconferences that everyone keeps rumoring about. TX and OU to the Pac 12 only make it the Pac 14, and the B1G/ACC/SEC are already there so it may not happen yet (least not until 2023 when the B1G's TV deal is expiring). But I do agree KU would be a B1G candidate.
  8. Big 12 has some scary parallels to the old Big East. Their indecision to expand namely due to lack of great candidates but also due to the controlling school(s) (Texas/Oklahoma = BE hoops schools) is telling that essentially the other 8 schools are caught by the balls by UT/OU, and are basically doomed either way, either expand with no home run adds (we are being looked at with the same disdain we looked at C-USA teams when the BE started to fold) and be the 5th wheel among the other big conferences, or expand and still be kind of a laughing stock, and either way UT and OU probably find ways to leave no matter what happens.
  9. If we want to get really technical, we can at least feel relieved that we aren't Idaho or New Mexico State. Granted, they were never in as big of a league or experienced BCS status, but one has decided to go back to FCS play, and the other hasn't won a bowl game since 1960 or so, and will be excluded from affiliate SunBelt association in another year or so, which may lead to a futile Independent attempt and likely an FCS downgrade too. I can take being a "G5" and still playing competitive teams and having a shot to take down blue blood programs from time to time, but can't imagine what it may be like to have to drop down and end up playing teams like FAMU or Stetson or Valdosta St.
  10. If Tom Herman leaves, Houston due to the new OCS and their financial backing will still be a viably top 3 G5 job. Tom Herman has had some great times at Houston, but for all we know he could go to LSU, instill something great...or fizzle horribly.
  11. Yup, may have to give my tix away, preggo wife and I lasted rio 14-14 (so like three minutes), and made it to halftime hiding in the shade and corridors. *** noon games before November.
  12. just wanted to post in here since i won't tomorrow bc i'll be at the game and service/wifi sucks when it's packed. go bulls!
  13. In 2009 when USF beat FSU, that same day UCF lost to ECU 19-14 (on the road).
  14. haha good for a few laughs. i stopped visiting the ucf rivals board because even as a "nice" poster, they couldn't help but sling the usif, cows, turds, whatever insults my way. we have delusional fans on here but i feel like some of theirs are worse...at least in the sense that they're just belligerent at the flip of a switch.
  15. Have to facepalm with Ole Miss being ranked at 1-2. Yeah, I get it, you "hung" with Bama, but you collapsed on FSU, who's loss doesn't look so great anymore. I get there are some SoS measures, I just hate that they can't just start ranking undefeated teams in the first 3-4 weeks, and if you're 1 loss, you hang around the #25-30 mark until the others lose. But I guess it is what it is. I try to take the first 3-4 weeks of rankings like preseason ones, they shouldn't mean squat (but unfortunately, they help prop up rankings for later in the season).
  16. Grand Rapids is a pretty cool town, some good breweries up there. I'd probably try to fly into Lansing and rental it.
  17. Perhaps more of their forum members would be inclined to vote if the options were "sleep with your sister vs sleep with your cousin"
  18. Interestingly enough, JK apparently either doesn't care if we don't make it or already has another job lined up if they don't make it and decide to give up on covering USF altogether. I mean, at least PRETEND you care about the school you're covering - I see tons of national and regional writers that went to school elsewhere that at least try to cover better.
  19. Oregon and Iowa and others do it too. I remember Iowa was pretty solid at doing the red/white/blue patriotic themes for Veteran's Day games and such, I think it's neat and adds a lot of comraderie and fan participation/spirit into things. Granted, the more people in the stands, the better it works/looks. Good luck with that white out, Cincy
  20. possible mistake but is a mention. I'd go to SJSU in an instant, love the [west coast] bay area too.
  21. I can see both sides. Sure, the companies building on that area would benefit more than USF would, but it would be up to USF to establish partnerships with the businesses to not only feed them interns/graduates, but to explore if there are "synergistic" (i hate using that word) things they can work together on, could end up being vital to an academic major's coursework or experience. Surely if they just slap a bunch of companies in there that can't make any connection to USF, it's going to be better for the companies. Can't we entice one of those big stadium building construction companies to build their headquarters there...and you know, as an example of their fine quality work, build a working full scale stadium model there...and you know, let USF use it?
