  1. I really fail to see how people are bagging on this, when before we had .......... *crickets* I mean, we're not going from zero to million dollar Super Bowl commercial, if anything, this video makes you watch it to figure out what is happening, and if it's not 100% well received...oh well, people are #talkinBoutTheBulls Sam Elliot...would've been nice.
  2. http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/video/hyOGM3djqTOSzWCnM7X-b4VZSEOJyCCe?autoplay=1#ooid=hyOGM3djqTOSzWCnM7X-b4VZSEOJyCCe Video is pretty cool, wonder if it was the same studio that did one of the Lightning ads or the Clearwater/St Pete beach ads...child's voiceover sounds familiar.
  3. You can get directly on the 408 by going south from the Libra dorms by the water tower and taking less than a mile of backroads through Research Park, anyone who leaves campus and doesn't go that way deserves the nightmare that is Waterford Lakes...haven't lived there in a dozen years and that still makes me want to road rage. Welcome aboard though! So you are in the USF dental program?
  4. Legit news from a site called Fansided. That's the equivalent of one of us writing a pro USF piece with our green and gold glasses on. Yes, Goldenbuc, we CAN tell you that unless it's from an official Big12 source, it's just another in a long line of people stepping up to the line to fling some crap and see how long it sticks. We will give you the fact that fan sites and some media sites (who are in no ways in any better touch with what could happen) write more about UCF, merely based on the football success, yet no one knows what is going to happen, and personally I don't see it happening anytime soon. If UCF goes 6-6 this year and USF goes 9-3, they'll start writing about USF and how their attendance made a big jump and the future is bright. They'll step foot on campus and then write pieces about how USF is beautiful and the coeds are smart and good looking (as are any coeds in every **** college in this state/the South), and how their academics are good, and how their research grants make other schools look like startups, and how their athletic facilities are actually top notch and just a few years old, ready to compete with other P5 programs, and their stadium isn't an OCS yet but can handle the crowds that come with larger P5 fanbases, yadda yadda. Flavor of the month.
  5. 15-20 minutes to the citrus bowl from ucf, and that was me driving there in 2002 before the 408 was rebuilt/widened/sunpass lanes...it's like 16 miles, and it's not like saturday is rush hour on the 408 (which conveniently drops off in research park south of the campus if you're on campus). ucf probably doesn't care, but don't act like it's not in your back yard. usf would **** well not enjoy gainesville state (or fsu) having their spring jort fest here in tampa.
  6. http://www.seminoles.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=210184111 Essentially, they're tapping into the "centrality" of Orlando and the large percentage of fan base they have along the I-4 corridor. Seems logical, probably will draw well since it has that exhibition feel to it. Side note: USF will never need to move its spring game location (unless it's back to RJS). I wonder if it will end up being the same weekend as the other spring game in that town.
  7. Probably just new ones. The SoFlo uniforms are okay in my book, my only gripe is that picture of the baseball uniform has a green helmet with a gold bill, and while the green seems to match the darkest green on the SoFlo jersey, there isn't really any gold on it. I do like the gradient idea, definitely a cool nod to the 70s. The football one needs a few tweaks, but I'm not surprised they're not caring as much about the green/gold being our exact colors as many teams are using uniform combos to catch the eye of the kids.

  9. https://twitter.com/schadjoe/status/615571904544534528 the cycle continues
  10. Thru end of year, meaning they're going to be looking for an AD who got ousted at a bigger school for having ****** football and hoops, or are just going to take their time getting a new guy.
  11. They're basically ripping the roof off the hallways and making it like Wiregrass or Lakeland or Winter Park, so yes, will be a nicer look. Lifestyle area is just the new buzzword, just means with health club/gym and movie theater among restaurants, it won't just be wall to wall with retail.
  12. May not look half bad, I'm sure the economic development council would love to invigorate Fowler Avenue and push the riff raff somewhere else. http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/news/2015/06/22/university-mall-redevelopment-plans-unveiled.html
  13. Is what it is, either an AD from someone below us, or asst from a big school. I'll take the latter.
  14. Being UCF pumps out hordes more alumni, I would think they should be ahead in the money category, especially with some of their sports doing pretty well recently. Money won't tell the whole story though, so even if USF is getting some revenue from the Big East split, the fact the numbers are so close is a good thing. If USF gets their sht together in football, the revenue would increase some more. It would be interesting to see the makeup of both donor bases. If one school has more donors, but they all donate less, or if USF's donor base is holding back due to performance reasons (would seem possible reading this board and how many people are ticked off and not paying until so and so is good).
  15. Certainly a nice opportunity to shine, can't hurt that that defense is pretty decent from what I remember, and having a beast like JJ Watt be one of your leaders is nice.
  16. I'm happy the Giants ended up with him though if it wasn't the Rays. He's definitely a difference maker. There are starting to transition him to 1st base. That transition buys him probably 3-5 more years of playing time without crushing his knees lol. Rays definitely need a catcher at some point. I thought they would've kept Casali up this year, but somehow kept Bobby Wilson up with Rene, who is essentially a slightly better hitter than Molina, slightly faster, and slightly less frame-able on pitches, so it's about a wash honestly. Joey Butler has been impressive though in LF
  17. Yeah but Posey came in what, 2010? Not sure he would've singlehandedly gotten them back to a series, but his hitting surely would've/could've helped versus the kryptonite that was the Rangers in those years. I went last night, Souza bombed another one to deep center. Kid's got a nice stroke and his power is very subtle but effective. But I'm impressed watching him play and he's at least fun to watch. Game last night started out sour, but Rays answered quickly then shut the Yanks down, two games in 5 days = 2 wins...I need to keep going to games!
  18. ECU = rum, changing to a win, as well as SMU's Dallas BBQ/brisket. 12-0 baby! Also, Skyline Chili is hot garbage and an insult to both chili and spaghetti. It ranks up there with cooking red sauce in a trash can for 45 minutes, also known as Chicago deep dish pizza.
  19. FAMU - Rattler Bites, bleh = LOSS FSU - Peyote and Horse Meat aren't appetizing, so crab legs it is! = WIN UMD - Turtle Soup is not my thing, but Maryland Fried Chicken is = WIN Memphis - PETA shuns fried Tiger, but Memphis style ribs taste like WIN Syracuse - SU always seems to be a noon game = Mimosas (oranges) = WIN UCONN = Husky...hot dogs? Count it as a WIN SMU - Mustangs...not into Horse Meat = LOSS Navy - It's illegal to eat the military so we'll go with Fish Fry = WIN ECU - Pirates taste like ghey (not that I'd know), but Purple Kool-Aid/Grape Soda = WIN Temple - Hooters = WIN Cincy - Bearcat is probably disgusting, but since we don't play Louisville and they're close enough, KFC it is! = WIN UCF - Kaniggit tears are delicious but highly riddled with STDs, so faux Medieval Times turkey legs will suffice = WIN Looks like we're 10-2 on tailgates this year. Reason enough for me to get some season tix.
  20. I found 6, whether we can hold on to them and not let them get stolen from us is the real question. I think it's possible if we overachieve we can find a 7th, or at least hold onto 6. Realistically, I think 1-2 get stolen and we end up with 4-5 come December...
  21. his defense and some of the details need some work but he's got a LOT of potential. went to the game on saturday and he crushed a ball for a 3 run homer, and he was hitting them over the fence in practice off a friggin tee (easier said than done). he crushed that one in toronto too that ended up hitting the sky deck. he does seem like a guy who should be playing 1st base or something, he's rangy but not super speedy like guyer and kiermeier/jennings.
  22. This loophole has been closed in state statutes. We cannot pull a Doak Campbell, smack some classes on a stadium, and expect to get state funding for it. It was a nice ploy that worked for FSU though. Dang. Oh well, thanks for the info. Not like USF really needs the bldgs that badly.
  23. That quote from Hagan was posted I think...but that thought (must fill stadium out more), the one about the budget woes, and Harlan saying it's on his LONG-term radar tells me it's not the right time. Now, that doesn't mean USF shouldn't go ahead & grab the real estate at least. In modern times, there is never a perfect plan/timing when it comes to new athletics facilities, at least football stadiums. UCF built one (albeit somewhat had to) during a nadir of success, fanbases are strengthened and unified during those processes. it's never a clear outlook, and the MOSI site I agree is probably more prime of an opportunity than we've seen in 18 years.
  24. Pending weather, you could easily have outdoor graduations in the spring at an OCS, you could have concerts, career fairs, could rent it out for high school football playoffs (regionally). Of course, you don't want to take everything away from the SunDome, but it's part of the game with pretty much every school that already has full facilities. FSU has buildings attached to Doak, that are used for academics only, so it's very possible. Or they could build up around the stadium and have some athletic dorms possibly.
  25. Link related: http://www.bizjournals.com/tampabay/news/2015/05/06/commissioners-support-mosi-talks-with-vinik.html?ana=fbk Cliffs notes: Tampa City Council agreed to let MOSI and Vinik talk about relocating. Couple of blips about USF already looking at that site for a football stadium is "a bad look" (i.e. something about funding their medical school downtown while at the same time going to be asking for help with an OCS) PS - most of the Tampa area has been updated in Google Maps...USF FINALLY has the updated athletics village in place....soooo if anyone wants to update that superimposed orange bowl/papa john's stadium/etc over the top, gotta make sure the crazies can put up accurate scaling info
