  1. The effort and sacrifice that Boyles has made these last couple of years merits all the respect in the world. That said, he would be a borderline 2nd-3rd stringer LB on any other competitive FBS team. The fact that he's by far our best player on defense says everything you need to know. Just can't believe how bad we are.
  2. The portal is a joke. We had the #1 portal recruiting class at one point, and the talent on defense is the worst it's ever been. I agree with @smazza; we need to rely on JUCO players from here on out. Kids that might've needed a second chance in life, rather than quitters that leave due to competition. Some of our best players ever, like Andre Hall and JPP, came in through the JUCO route. The portal, however, can go kick rocks. Relying solely on it to fill up the defense was one major reason for this disaster of a season.
  3. Record setting night for the true freshman!
  4. All the respect in the world for MB and everything he's done for USF football. He's a hall of famer as a player for a reason. However, he seems to lack a little umpf as a coach. He's been demoted a few times, don't think he brings in the utmost energy or confidence needed right now for HC of USF. However, he is a Broyles candidate this year, I would think that's more due to the crazy RB talent at Ole Miss. But maybe not? I don't know, but here's Coach Blackwell wired up during practice; you decide:
  5. Yes I know, I only mentioned it because he correctly predicted CJS as our HC beforehand, which scares me in the case of Tom Allen.
  6. Sounds like Tom Allen is making excuses for his team’s **** play. Are teams like Minnesota reaping in the benefits of NIL that much more than Indiana? They don’t seem to be doing too bad in the B1G. I’d think the hoosiers probably have more $$$ boosters than the gophers, what’s the real difference? I’m sure had you asked Boyles or Grier about fCJS they would’ve also said “he’s a great coach! Come to USF!” While results on the field say otherwise. Tom Allen and excuses isn’t what USF needs right now. I really hope we don’t hire him as HC - Joey Knight thinks he’s a solid candidate for us.
  7. Jason Candle is an interesting candidate. 52-31 record at Toledo and has the team playing for a conference championship this year. The most captivating part is that he signed the MAC’s No. 1 recruiting class every year from 2017-21, with several players coming from the TB area. I think something Taggart and Frost proved in the AAC is that you really only need to out-recruit your competition without much Xs and Os, and you will be very competitive in the conference.
  8. December 10th at Amalie might be a good time to start. Just make sure the family is wearing the right colors.
  9. Is it better to come in last in the B1G every year and live in NJ, or is it better to (hopefully) compete for conference championships in the AAC and live in Tampa Bay?
  10. Daily Stampede also had Scott at #2 behind Elliot and not to mention Joey Knight correctly predicted Scott on the radio day/s(?) before it was official. Idk can’t see a random dark horse getting this job out of the blue whose name hasn’t already be thrown around somehow.
  11. Question for Bucs fans who experienced Gruden as TB coach. Yes, it is well-known the dude can be a **** to rookies and so on, but how was the team under his guidance? I get he won a SB his first year, but it seems like he didn't do much after based on W-Ls. Do you feel like the guy was an awesome coach, or is he overrated? Is he popular due to his Chucky persona and TV personality, or were the Bucs actually a really well-prepared and functioning football team with Gruden running the show?
  12. Herman should be our #1 target now that we found out Simmons has deep skeletons in his closet. Hope he can recruit Tampa Bay.
  13. Reading this kind of stuff angers me. THIS is the reason we should never be at the bottom of the AAC, let alone for three years. You literary don't have to leave the county to get great football talent. It shouldn't be that hard to succeed here as long as you can convince some of that talent to stay home.
  14. Indeed. For football, USF has inducted: Blackwell, Anthony Henry, QF, and Selvie. Surprising to see Flowers make it before Grothe, but I guess he is ahead of him in almost every record - granted, the competition was less talented. People up to bat should be Mack, Kawika, and Grothe. Possibly Auggie Sanchez? He is the all-time leading tackler by 20 tackles, but I don't know if he's as iconic as say, Ben Moffitt at linebacker.
  15. Should Marlon Mack make the cut for USF hall of fame? Did he accomplish enough or not? Also, is the USF HOF website accurate? Is Matt Grothe not in the HOF? That’s surprising if true.
  16. If somehow by the grace of whatever deity you believe in Brown is able to defeat UCF for the ‘last time ever’ - heard that before - then build him a statue outside the OCS
  17. Not only was he a stud running the ball, but he also protected tf out of it. Barely any turnovers as a QB which is rare for a college QB. Quite possibly the best offensive leader in USF history.
  18. FWIW someone just tweeted this at me regarding Simmon's arrest. Now I'm one to be critical of just random information without a reliable source, but if it's true - not saying it is - then maybe Willie won't be out of the picture just yet.
  19. Skip Holtz is having a lot of success in the USFL; I don't think he'd want to come back.
  20. Well, the last three P5 home games under Leavitt were against #20 WVU, Louisville for homecoming, and #19 Miami. The first three P5 home games in 2010 were against Syracuse, Rutgers, and Pitt. A more accurate analysis would be to see the attendance for the non-important games at the beginning of each season and that attendance is at par at around 40K in both 2009 and 2010. Quality of opponent definitely matters with attendance. We probably did lose some fans due to Leavitt's firing, but I don't think we lost 16,000 fans cause of it. I would think it had to do more with the demotion from BCS to G5. Regardless, making amends with Leavitt and having him back in some capacity for USF football is definitely a plus in every way. Edit: Obviously, the only reason we had that many fans to begin with was Leavitt's work anyways. So yeah...
  21. 100%. Was Simmons found guilty? Can't find anything. Being charged and being found guilty are totally different things. But yeah, don't think VPMK would be fully on board bringing in someone with that much baggage, if so.
  22. Bringing back Leavitt in any capacity is a great move in several ways.
