  1. The fact that you understand my thought process should be reason for concern on your part, but you are exactly right about my point.
  2. First off. I never mentioned extensions, once. I used Stan Heath's first 2 years as a comparison to Skip Holtz's first 2 years. We will never know what Woolard would have done after the 09/10 season, had it gone south because it didn't, so it's not relevant to the argument. However, your argument supports my point that Woolard will give Holtz more time, simply buy giving him an extension before, what we deem, is a successful season or an improvement in the program.
  3. Stam Heath has earned every extension he has gotten while at USF. Both were received after 2 of the best regular seasons in USF history. Stan also has the ONLY NCAA wins in USF history. Stop comparing Coach Heath to Skip! Heath was 12-19 (3-15 in conference) year 1 and 9-22 (4-14 in conference) year 2. Hardly glaring evidence of his future success. Which, BTW, is 2 winning seasons in 5. Even with the 09/10 season, after the 10-23 (3-15) finish in 2011, there were those calling the previous season and fluke and for his head. For the record, I like and support Stan Heath. As much as I hope I am wrong, I stand by my opinion. Even if Holtz goes 2-10 the next 2 years, I've seen no evidence of backbone by this athletic administration. Leavitt made his own bed. I also see no evidence of them growing one anytime soon. I would prefer, however, that Skip reverses this season and does what he set out to do, take us to the next level. I'm holding out hope for that, because that is what is best for the program in its immediate future.
  4. Winning, regardless who the coach is. That is what is best for the program. If we go 2-10, Holtz will still be there next year. In fact, Woolard will probably stick with Holtz, much like he has with Heath.
  5. With your car or did you almost bump into him? Truck no less. He was standing there eating, what I imagine was his dinner, and talking to somebody. He should feel lucky that Mrs. S wasn't driving. Even if she had missed, he and his friend would have been toasted by the after burners. Her motto is "Speed limit be damned."
  6. Missed you at preseason tailgate (Bulls Rally). This is the road game Mrs. S and I will probably make, but that has not been finalized, yet.
  7. Went tonight. Could not get into the room the show was in. All seats reserved. Could not hear the show from any of the other dining areas, so I missed the entire thing. BoB is trying to reserve me a couple of seats for week after next and I truly appreciate that, but GoUSFBulls.com should at least indicate that reservations are required instead of just inviting people out. BTW, I almost ran over Coach Holtz as I was leaving.
  8. Mrs. S and I have to pay our respects to the Korean War Veterans Association out at the Golden Corral on 56th Street Saturday @ noon. Probably won't leave there until after halftime. Are there any regular watch parties around campus?
  9. UF FSU Miami USF UCF FIU FAU Miami has a small local fan base, but a large national fan base. That comes with national championships.
  10. So the OP went out to relieve the stress of seeing the game. Then he complains because he feels the players have no right to relieve the stress of playing it. OK. Whatever floats your boat.
  11. Given the fact that Kent State beat Ball State last Saturday and the effort given in the FSU game. Ball State.
  12. No way I give up. Already stated that in another thread. I don't care if it's just me and Mrs. S in the stands, we'll be there. We may actually make one or all of the last 3 road games, Mami and UC being the most probable at this point.
  13. We had a solid fan base in '07 vs. WVU It's understandable. Winning solves everything. Had we have been 4-0 going into this game, it would've been a different story and the split would've probably evened out. But concerning fanbases, those garnet and gold fanbases we saw yesterday grew up with wire-to-wire and AP top 5 finishes for a decade, so they'll stick by their team no matter what. Same with Gators, or state schools who have been around since the Civil War. When we went up there after their BYU loss and coming to the end of the Bowden era, there were what -- about 3k who sold their tickets, as opposed to 20k of ours who sold theirs? Says something about the loyalty of the rest of their fanbase I am concerned for the future about bringing up a fanbase when 4-8 is all we have at South Florida. I should rephrase that as "lack there of a..." Actually the Noles faced the Bulls after a 54-28 win at BYU, not a loss. The loss at Ball State was devastating to this fan base, no doubt about it.
  14. It was $125, Doug Woolard told me that a couple of years ago at an alumni tailgate, if memory serves me right. Greg Auman mentioned it in his chat last Thursday as having gone up to $150. I do believe the TSA gets a small portion of the gate receits, too, though. Like 1 or 2 percent.
  15. Skingraft had a decent bowel movement and harmony is restored to the masses. All in one thread.
  16. Does this factor in donations from the donation level season tickets? No, I was just looking at gross ticket sales. Also, my calculations don't take into account the private boxes. You could bump that gross up over 2 million including those private boxes. Anyone care to venture a guess at the average donation per season ticket holder or corporate sponsor broken down into a per game amount?
  17. We only paid $150,000 for rent. Somebody check my math, but we probably grossed 1.4 to 1.7 million in gate receipts. We also get part of the parking, but I'm not sure how much.
  18. Go view the highlights of the 07 WVU game. You don't see a red seat one.
  19. Going on now. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/thursday-chat-live-greg-auman-noon-0
  20. @gregauman: Take a long lunch: Join our USF live chat starting at noon at http://Tampabay.com, taking your Bulls questions before FSU game Saturday. This should be interesting.
  21. You're being a might harsh dude. I always saw Lanaris as the next Ben Moffitt, but I don't think he has the proper instruction and schemes to allow him to be truly successful. The OP wouldn't agree with your response but he also wouldn't like mine concerning Leavitt. I think we should maybe pump the brakes a bit on calling out individual players. Coaches are men, they're over 40, they get paid crap loads of money to perform at the top. JMHO. Agreed. At fan fest, i briefly spoke with him as he was signing for me and he was very excited about his upcoming senior season. He was very polite and thanked me for coming out and supporting the team. Seemed like a very good kid. Our frustration should be aimed at the coaches who get paid lots of money to put these players in the best situation to succeed. And when politeness starts winning us football games, I'll change my tune. The guys' skill level is beyond bad. I'm sure he's a very nice a polite kid. But the fact is our defense starts at that position and they guy can't cut it. You ever notice how they pull him off the field in 3rd and pass situations. It's because they know they guy doesn't have the speed. I am dead ass serious when I say him off the field helps out the team wayyy more than on the field. So you want to take the team's second leading tackler off of the field? OK. If it make you feel better.
