  1. this team is good. NCState was really good. not sure what to think of Florida but they look like at least a middle-pack SEC team. tough schedule for a young team & unproven coach.
  2. UAB, UMass & FAU would be my choices, unless they’re looking west… then Boise, SDSU, Fresno
  3. i don’t wish I’ll health on any student athlete but the goings on of diploma mills, even those in the state of Florida, do not interest me. if this still matters when we play Florida Central College last game of the season, I’m sure it will be mentioned on this board. but for now… meh. FAMU is a respectable school, they are worthy of all our attention tonight.
  4. USF's heyday in the Big East (wayyyy back when we were ranked #2 for half an hour) is still more impressive than this reeking pile of dung that the new Big XII-sans Texahoma UCF finds itself in. is it better than the AAC? sure, but these things are cyclical. can anyone name what matchups from the new Big XII will be must-see TV? no? didn't think so. USF's best days are still more compelling than anything UCF has done before or since & a slightly better than lateral move to the new Big XII may be painful in the sense that being excluded & rejected is always painful, but it's not the death-knell for USF that some people believe, nor is it the elevation to the Big Boys P5 club that UCF would like for it to seem. & regardless of the reason why, getting an OCS is a huge plus that is over a decade in the making. let's embrace it & hope we can finally put a winning product on the field.
  5. I didn’t say it was the problem with the game. I said it was terrible to listen to, which only compounds the disgust with what’s happening on the field.
  6. I’m inclined to agree… but we had double-digit win seasons since then. maybe the slap + the Pittsburgh/ESPN collusion to dismantle the Big East.
  7. the ACC Network is ass… they’re really going overboard with this NCState stroking. yeah they’re beating the dog shizz out of us but that doesn’t make them look impressive. they’ve given us a few opportunities we just haven’t been good enough to take advantage.
  8. humor me. i’m interested in hearing it. u can keep it succinct if it’s a dead horse that will only get panties bunched, but i haven’t been here since last season so i don’t mind reading it
  9. i traveled the country for this team, planned my life around the season. being hoarse until Tuesday after screaming my head off all day Saturday. i don’t know at what point this program turned south, what it was that triggered this free-fall into irrelevance, but winning 2 or 3 games seems like a realistic goal when we used to have at least 1 marquee win & punch a ticket to a bowl game every season, even if most of them were less than ideal (Pizza, St Pete, etc). this is tough.
  10. such as… ? Who is coming here? what does this program offer a competent young coach, or a competent veteran coach?
  11. this is heartbreaking. thinking back to how big a part of my life USF football used to be when I was a student & for years afterward… to see us like this kills me. I’d rather pretend it doesn’t exist than feel this way every Saturday.
  12. it’s time to consider whether winning (or at least being mediocre) in FCS isn’t better than consistently being terrible in the AAC.
  13. do other seasons exist on YT? i'm old school. i still have the '07 AU & WVU games on DVD's that mysteriously showed up on my doorstep.
  14. the point isn't whether he's going to be the next Roy Jones or how good his technique is or how much money he's going to make from it. the point is he's doing something productive in his post-football days & enjoys doing it, yet some people who havent played a down of competitive flag football much less BCS-level FBS football for the school this message board is about are still pulling the old "happy for him BUT..... [insert passive aggressive criticisms]" if the guy ended up in jail you'd throw him in the trash as a disgrace. instead he's living a successful life doing something with his athletic ability well into his 30's and... people are STILL ******** on him. i don't know what standard most of u people LIVE by in your own lives, but the standards some of u put on guys who put their bodies on the line on the football field so u could have something to entertain u with a $15 beer & a hotdog in your hand is seriously skewed. how about u just try being happy for ONE OF OUR OWN for once instead of this constant negativity. every player that comes thru here isn't going to the NFL, or marrying professional surfers while playing college football as a post-grad, or becoming a rocket scientist after leaving USF. some are going to go back to the same communities they came from-- communities where many of u come from-- and just live regular lives. if u see them happy, why not be happy FOR them? without automatically counterbalancing it with some negativity or criticism. SALUTE Mike Ford. i enjoyed watching him play football during USF's best stretch of football & i'm happy for the brother continuing to pursue what makes him happy. the end. see? not so hard.
  15. he looked pretty solid to me. not sure why there are shades of negativity in this thread. the guy is living his life, who cares how many times a year he fights or how good (or not) his opponents have been. he's a guy in his mid-30s doing something he enjoys a decade after he gave our alma mater a couple solid seasons at running back during the football program's golden era. he's a nice guy who could be doing a lot of less positive things with his life given where he's come up from. let's support our brother #LetTheFordOutTheGarage
  16. if this is competing hard i hope i never have to witness competing weak. this is downright garbage. i have no idea whether these guys are giving it 110% and leaving it all out on the field or have packed it in mentally & are just going thru the motions... but WHATEVER they're doing they shouldn't be doing it at all, nevermind doing it hard. my fear is that not only is the strategy & gameplanning absolute dumpster sauce, but many players are also unmotivated or incapable therefore also not trying hard. weak-assing a garbage gameplan is the only way i can conceive of explaining the absolute coathanger backalley delivery of a football game they are sharting all over the field at RayJay tonight. over 15 years as a fan & alumnus & i have never actually been ashamed of this program. i can no longer say that.
  17. pull the plug & put a pillow over its face. for its own sake.
  18. this is the lowest this program has ever been. even the Holtz New Error was better than this, at least it was in a quasi-respectable conference. this is just **** from every angle. pure, unadulterated ****. i will always be proud of my degree from USF, i will always hope for our athletics programs to win... but i won't spend a single penny on anything related to the football program until the University pulls its head out of its *** & either commits the resources necessary to make us competitive in the trash AAC or admits it doesn't have the stones & just downgrades to FCS where we belong. i'm getting off this teacup ride (not even respectable enough to be called a "rollercoaster") & forgetting everything that's happened since i graduated. too bad i can't get all the money i wasted back. bring on the hoops.
  19. and again, TRASH clock management at the end of the half was a killer. Charlie Strong needs to clean out his office by tomorrow.
  20. this coaxhing staff has had plenty of time to either find or groom a competent kicker and didn't. that is trash to me. "close but no cigar" against all but the lowliest of competition as the new standard of "success" is trash to me. i don't blame the players. there is talent on this team. but a 50+ man football team cannot win without coaching & they dont have it. this isn't basketball where an Allen Iverson or LeBron James can drag a team with no All-Stars to the Finals off the will of their competitiveness. football doesnt work that way. too many moving parts need to work together in unison & im not sure ive seen it happen under this coaching staff. the fact that the kids went out there & made it competitive, dominated for a half, only to lose on a last minute field goal was a kick in the nuts. at this point i dont even know why i still care. a day will eventually come when i dont. i know that day has already come for most people around the Bay, around Florida and certainly around the FBS football world. we are as irrelevant as Louisiana Tech or Ball State or Rice. UAB shuttered theyre program for a couple years, came back, and won a conference championship before we did. im glad submediocrity is enough for some of u people. its not enough for me.
