  1. I guess they see the writing on the wall and are moving in another direction.
  2. I actually get it. They want to play schools that their fans actually have heard of or care about - and not necessarily in football. There are plenty of people from Big East schools sprinkled throughout the North East (at work, the gym, in the neighborhood) that can foster rivalries and drive interest. It is like the opposite of what Boston College did (but I understand their decision as well at the time as well). I applaud them.
  3. This was a really interesting article. I was expecting to come away feeling one way and the opposite happened. These schools were looking out for the welfare of their students and did not wish to get into an arms race with one school that was double in size and spending twice as much. My avatar is of my son playing lacrosse in a rec league. The games are competitive and they have an overall champion at the end of the year based on standing and outcomes from the jamboree. That being said there is also a travel league that is hard core with kids that want to get a scholarship and make a career professionally out of playing lacrosse*. The goals of both leagues are totally different and when a travel team (and this does occur) joins a rec league to fill in time on their schedule it tends to ruins it for everyone else in the rec league. These kids are cherry picked from across the region and play all year round an the games are not competitive. It turns into a glorified practice for the travel league team. *You can't make a career out of lacrosse that was partially in jest but I am not sure anyone ever told these people.
  4. Yes Popeye said it first but the context was not the same. I'm chalking this up as true convergence. An unlikely place for an Ellison quote so props to @puc86
  5. What does that mean "a house-cleaning ensued" ?
  6. As a long time fan I am no longer interested in our mid-season play. It feels like a moral victory if we don't win the championship.
  7. That about describes it. Anyone want to tell Tom Hanks who our new coach is and why is he legitimate?
  8. Thanks Jonesy. Yea I saw some of the threads but I was looking for a recap of everything like you just did. How is the transfer portal helpful?
  9. So, I have been out of town for several months on business and so busy I have been completely out of touch. I would say this began right after the bowl game and wan't even aware that we got a new OC or that Chris O has transferred. Last night I checked on the board for my usual dose of doom and gloom but came away confused. After checking the URL several times I noticed that the basketball program won something call the CBI and others downright optimistic over what they saw in the spring game and recruiting. Can someone give me their take on the state of things as they see it?
  10. Seriously is there a thread floating around with a list of who will be back next year and a proposed depth chart? I'm trying to understand what kind of talent we will have once the dust settles on all this.
  11. Jim seemed to reach a plateau and there was some grumblings. CCS has not hit a plateau as far as we know.
  12. My concern is that they did too deep a hole that they can't recover in time.
  13. I got what you were saying and answered accordingly. I find it hilarious that CCS has to come up with any excuses at all. We are not playing great due to youth or distractions or whatever. It happens. I recall the team under Leavitt getting distracted by rankings and losing focus during the Rutgers game. We got distracted by the bowl activities under Leavitt and Taggart and losing. These are young kids and a young team overall and they get distracted by things. The import thing is they are winning. Hopefully it will last.
  14. It was suggested that caring about the uniforms is a form of feminization. That has got to be the stupidest thing I have read on this forum in a long time. As pointed out, plenty of "manly men" care about those kinds of things, including the military. When I served the color of your beret implied how elite you were. You can't say on one hand that being concerned about uniforms is feminine for a man and not include any male who wears and cares about the look of his uniform. We used to debate with the Marines who's class A's looked better (even though I was in the Army I agreed with them). I would say that caring for the look of your uniform is pretty **** manly.
  15. Hard to argue. I haven't seen a match up like this since Gobo Gym went up against the Average Joe's.
  16. It is one of the biggest knocks against USF so you call it out and say screw that but we have ambition. It is the story behind USF as a program and academic institution. I like it. No we don't have any real tradition as a school unless we are counting the Wizard, the Towel Guys, War Flamingo and Mr Auburn Game Spandex.
  17. The only thing is disagree with is the score of xCWT's games. They would be closer to 69-70. We'd score 70 but the game would still be a nail biter somehow. So true about xCJL. We would destroy good teams and definitely lose to UMass of UConn.
  18. Well, two years ago we would get up big and watch other teams whittle away at it in the 4th quarter. That was not fun either.
