  1. Back to the thought of potential new hires, is Brian Lamb making too much money in his gig with the bank to be considered? Seems to be a successful business guy, is a USF product, and played sports IIRC.
  2. So a bottle of Killians should do the trick. Great work Dave.
  3. At our home games the players put the tarp on the field. Since Stetson is hosting make their kids do it.
  4. While watching the Golf Channel just a few minutes ago someone brought up the bad weather that plagues The Memorial tournament quite often. So legend has it that the course was built on an Indian Burial Ground. Supposedly Nicklaus's wife brought a glass of gin to the grave of the Chief. They said she didn't know whether he drank bourbon. What we need is for someone to do research into which Indian Tribe occupied the area and find out what the Chief liked to drink. Assuming we can't come up with any thing I'll offer try to bury a bottle of bourbon somewhere next to the Sun Dome and hope that being made from primarily corn that that is sufficient. This is all just for laughs because I found it funny to hear the phrase Indian Burial Ground relating to a jinx at something other than USF.
  5. But when a majority of people feel the same way there might be something there. That majority, admittedly, is only based on people that I know. But many of them are people who make significantly higher contributions than us.
  6. We don't seem to have issues with anyone else in the Bulls Club or the Foundation for that matter.
  7. And probably more about just DW. Don't think he made that call, at least not alone. Many forces at work in that decision.
  8. Too late. We've had people in the Bulls Club that either went to or worked at Mousetown U.
  9. How much does he make at the TB Sports Authority? Can't find anything other than one site has his salary at $0. He sounds like a great candidate but does he want the job if offered? Only thing with Brooks is that he is FSU but if he has enough contacts and can get the IPF built......... We need to be careful that whomever we offer takes the job. Don't need to go 3 or 4 down on a list to only look like no ones wants to be here.
  10. You mean like the facilities that got built under his watch? Totally agree. Brilliant, personable AND a huge sports fan.
  11. One that was well thought out by the people that do these things at USF. It allowed him to look for a job making it look like he was wanted here. He got a small percentage of what he asked for in a raise.
  12. You mean the guy that hired Taggart? We can get into the Holtz thing all over again if you like, but that hire on paper wasn't horrible. It worked out horribly but sometimes things don't go as planned. Doug was a personable guy and didn't alienate people. Big donors still hang out and socialize with him even though he's been gone years. You can ask those same people how they feel about the guy that is now leaving. Not saying he didn't make some mistakes along the way but the relationship between donors and AD was better under his regime.
  13. Texting with someone and heard an interesting name: Ken Erickson as a possible candidate. Don't quite get that but who knows.
  14. Let's just say he had a way of making donors feel unappreciated. Like ignoring us for an entire year at the Hardwood Club before every MBB & WBB game. My wife was at the point of not wanting to go because of him. I was told by a former Bulls Club person with fairly long ties to USF that we'd never build an OCS with him here. Managed to tick off a lot of big donors. No "thank yous" for what you've done. But "what else can you do?" I will say he did teach me the rules of college tennis when I met him at a match a couple of years ago. If you could get him in a one on one, which only happened twice for me, he was decent enough. But he avoided small donors like the plague and as Iron Bull we were considered small donors. His philosophy is to go after the whales. The crap in the Utah press release about the increase of 300% was an accounting change. Don't think true $$$ increased much, if at all. The Naimoli $1 million donation was fostered by Andrew Goodrich. There were other things that I won't put on here because I wouldn't want it to get back to my contacts but some things would make you shake your head.
  15. I'd be good with him as well. Another great guy at USF. As I've said in the past, there are a ton of great people working at USF. I'd be happy for any one of them.
  16. Although we're still Iron Bulls we cut back a bit this year. Wish we contributed enough to have input.
  17. My wife is dancing around the house singing Happy Days are Here Again. Okay we're old.
  18. I would add Andrew Goodrich and Scott Kull to that list of possible candidates. I asked Scott when he was here when he'd become our AD? He seemed kind of shocked that I asked but I am hopeful we hire from within for continuity. Barry has been here forever and is well deserving. Great guy and a bourbon lover.

  20. Kind of ironic that the only coach we've had that would do that stuff is the most hated man on this board.
  21. Been gone for a couple of weeks. But if Nolan Ryan marries Warren Nolan he'd be...........
  22. Only seems that way because you had no club access at Wrigley.
