  1. Imagine if you were Seton Hall, or Rutgers, or better yet Texas or Cal; 4 teams who all had a good season, one or two wins away from a better seed, and they get stuck not only in the same bracket, but the same half of the bracket, as a team who has caused some to legitimately wonder if it's unfair that a team is as dominant. Somebody has to play them, folks.
  2. Let me get this straight... We got a 6 seed. We got the magic, Willy Wonka Golden Ticket 6-seed that lets us host games in our chocolate factory. And now we're complaining we'll have to play UConn...eventually? Let's enjoy this, boys and girls!! The stars are aligning, luck is on our side, we get 1, maybe 2 more chances to watch one of the best teams USF has ever put out there.
  3. I received mine, and quickly got two front-rows; behind the net, but hey, it's better than a TV watching them play in Iowa City or Tempe or Durham
  4. Honestly, I'd rather them be a 7 seed in Tallahassee, though it's for selfish reasons (I'd love to go to a game, and Tally's a LOT closer than Tempe. If fsu beats nd tomorrow could fsu jump nd for a 1 seed or is fsu too far out of the 1 slot Not a chance in hell. They wouldn't even make it to a #2. Mainly because of their OOC schedule - their BEST ooc win is against freaken Tulane. Every other OOC opponent is in triple digits except Washington, which they lost. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_124_Women.html And as soon as I write that, I show how stupid I am. Charlie Creme has them as a solid #2 This would be VERY nice. And we actually have a chance against UL, we're 4-26 lifetime. Yeah... Who do we have to pay off to make this a possibility?

  6. For the life of me, I can't explain how ECU hasn't picked up 20 wins; they played extremely well both times they played us.
  7. Looks like we're #29 .... FGCU at #22??? http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/rankings FGCU has had a heck of hoops program in women. They are also not too bad in mens. They call their mens hoops team Dunk City. They made the tourny not long ago and had a good run into it. USF needs to look no further than down south to see how they do it. Maybe one day, USF can have the success as Dunk City. It's also a lot easier to rack up wins in the A-Sun Conference. Is it, though?
  8. Fantastic effort tonight by Fernandez' group, made a 14-10 team look like a group of high schoolers, forcing them into sloppy passes, easy turnovers and difficult shots. This was a game we simply could not lose, or risk being very much on the bubble; they didn't disappoint, and took their ECU frustration out on Tulsa. Looking forward to Temple on Sunday!
  9. UCF's #23 (Lewis) is a fantastic player, but their defense redefined the word "suck"; it was absolutely awful, we could have put the subs in the whole game and won by >10. After Memphis and Tulane, I'm grateful we had UCF tonight, and Cincy Saturday night. Poor Cincinnati, they had UConn tonight, and us Saturday
  10. Solid road win, no doubt aided by Memphis' inability to foul; great effort by both teams, USF needs to work on beating the press, but otherwise a great W, and I'm looking forward to seeing everybody Tuesday night for the War on I-4!!
  11. Memphis is playing really well, it's not so much USF not playing well; we have to beat them on the boards, though.
  12. The only game I see us struggling with is going on the road to play ECU. They are a dirty physical team that fouled us 26 times when they played us back in December.
  13. The weak conference was the reason we were sitting at home last season, and it's the reason our non-conference this year was stacked with impossible teams, but also decent teams that were also winnable. Getting out of the nonconference schedule with only 3 losses (and it could have easily been 1, Maryland was the only game where we just got crushed) was the best thing that could have happened. We finish the season 23-7 or 22-8 and make a semi-final run in the AAC, and we are squarely in.
  14. As puzzling as it is frustrating; I know it's women's basketball, but it's the most consistently winning team on campus; with 3K students on campus, there is no excuse to see less than 50 students in the student section. This team has a legitimate shot at a tourney run, and it's the same 750 people and a few local high school teams in attendance every game. Athletics and SG should get together for the UCF game, and market the hell out of it; free pizza, prizes, make it an event. It worked for the WNIT Semi-Final Are there really on a couple hundred fans at the game? Hard to believe. Watching these ladies is really exciting, can't believe more don't attend. Today's attendance was 1,400 and change, so I was exaggerating how small the attendance was; but it's still 1,000 people away from the average attendance of the 50th most-attended women's basketball team last year: http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/w_basketball_RB/reports/Attend/14att.pdf Schools like James Madison and Old Dominion regularly pull in >2,500 people. And we can't blame athletics; IMHO they've done a great job of treating this team like the men's, with the pre-game introductions and HOT Rumble band and promotions, but there's a missing piece that needs to be found.

  16. In addition to the 41-point shellacking they treated us to, Chattanooga (Who we beat earlier this year) upset #7 Stanford. This team is good, ladies and gentlemen; they have the talent to not only exist in the NCAA tournament, but make a deep run. Let's give them some support along the way!!
  17. Of course it's great to see a win, but it definitely wasn't pretty by any name; a lot of missed opportunities vs. an 0-7 team including a 3-on-1 fast break we couldn't convert, missed passes, teammates fighting each other for rebounds and losing the ball out of bounds. These are the mistakes you don't see in UConn or South Carolina. Nonetheless, going 7-3 (possibly 8-3, UNCO is a tough 6-2 team) with this nonconference schedule is fantastic; we could have easily gone 2-8 against these very talented teams. We should do well enough in the AAC to be confident in March.
  18. 1. Any Women's game I can and a few men's game 2. Women's team makes the NCAA and advances to the sweet 16, and the Men's team wins a round or two in the NIT. 3. Bama, Oregon, TCU, Ohio State (calling the GT upset) 4. No, they invested in an on-campus stadium that changed the football culture. 5. Neither. Two Broke Girls is a horrible, unfunny excuse for a TV Show
  19. Christened my season tickets today! I've been a fan of this team especially since my HOT days, when they made their NCAA back in 2006; Fernandez is a fantastic coach, humble and great guy, and the team plays their tails off night after night; it's great to see them so successful!
  20. I tweeted about this earlier, because I knew this was going to happen by some on this board; Who the hell would want this job? Even before you coach a single game, you get compared to a former coach that some fans deify because he had a couple of decent seasons and beat an FSU team that was having a down year. We will never get better if we become known as a revolving door for coaches. Every coach deserves 3 years.
  21. The Good: I had chicken tenders for lunch while watching the game. They weren't bad The Bad: The fries that came with the tenders were somewhat soggy, and it was not a ketchup-related, acceptable sogginess The Ugly: The entire game; it was a 60-minute long Jerry Springer slap-fight.
  22. I really think we need to stop this superiority attitude we have of "we're so much better than they are." We had maybe 3 seasons where we were better than UCF, but would you have wanted to play them last year? How about the year before? Hell, how about the year before that? Let's run down the checklist: -Metropolitan area? Check -Massive student enrollment? Check -Underappreciated fan base? Check UCF and us are carbon freaking copies of each other, and I for one welcome our new AAC brethren. Let me ask everyone this: Does anyone here hate Miami half as much as they hate UCF? UCF is our rival, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
