  1. Ugly, ugly win tonight over the Mustangs; SMU had a chance to win at the buzzer, air-balled a wide-open 3.
  2. Very disappointing loss for sure; some bright spots: Pujols' shooting, Henshaw's interior play. The team stands at 15-3 currently; they have at least 2 games left against Temple, and another against UConn. Unfortunately, I don't see a path to them hosting the first round other than winning out (except for UConn). If they win a 3-game series against Temple (win at home, win in the 2/3 AAC Semi-final) and win all but 1 (maybe 2) of the remaining games, they should be okay for the NCAA's, as a 7-10 seed.
  3. I don't even know what to say... I mean, I don't think any of us were expecting to see the team win or even keep it within 10 in the 4th... But my God, that was the Hawks vs. District 5. USF's games vs. Temple will tell the tale of where this team goes.
  4. 1,900; above average for women's basketball, but much lower than this team deserves.
  5. A win against an SEC team who has made a habit of over-performing at bowl games, a team that was coached by the same person all season, and a team that beat a ranked Tennessee squad.
  6. St. Francis entire offensive strategy was 'take the ball down, find the first open 3-pt. Shooter, and launch it.' They have some shooters, but you're not going to win games like that. SFU's defense... I don't have the words for the degree of awful their defense was. A 50-point win, and it wasn't even that close
  7. About 150 on Greyhound last night; not sure now, though. Waiting to see if USF will offer a package.
  8. As a USF and South Carolina Alum, I've been waiting for this for 6 years. Of course, back in Fall 2011 I thought it was going to be in a BCS Bowl, but that... Just didn't happen.
  9. I agree; I thought at the end of last season that this team will make a deep WNIT run; now, I think they're capable of a 7-10 NCAA bid.
  10. I definitely thought this; we looked absolutely awful during the 1st quarter. There was one offensive sequence when we went 3-and-out, got a first down gift-wrapped to us, and then went 3-and-out again! I'm thrilled that the team got their ish together and pulled out a solid win that was never in doubt once they took the lead.
  11. The commentators mentioned she didn't practice yesterday; maybe she's not feeling well.
  12. What's at the Sun Dome on 10/22 that can't be moved?
  13. This. The same reason South Carolina's playing in the NIT; their schedule was as SAWFT as Enzo Amore's opponent.
  14. To be honest, though I'm happy for the conference, Monmouth deserved the bid more than Tulsa. Meanwhile, some of my fellow Gamecock alum friends are losing their ever-loving minds because apparently a sub-200 nonconference SOS and a loss to Missouri and 3 losses to fellow NIT-er UGA is excusable.
  15. Now they have to play Temple, who will absolutely be playing at 100% today, as they're playing for their NCAA lives. This is another reason I hate conference tournaments: 3 games in 3 days heightens the potential for injuries and fatigued players; the AAC would be smarter to spread the tournament out over two weekends, with home teams playing in the first weekend, and move it to the neutral site for the semis and finals.
  16. I think they'll still be the second-best team in the conference; Ferriera and Laksa will be our strong shooters, hopefully Weber can improve her shot down low, and they'll have some strong freshmen coming in. I think they still make the tourney next year, but as an 11-13 seed; in 2 years, they'll be where they were this/last year.
  17. I really wish Stringfield had another year; she was fearless, fast, and arguably the scrappiest player on the team. They won at Tulane because of her last-minute shot; looking at their record now and where they stand in terms of the NCAA Tourney, every win counted.
  18. Agreed, but this would literally be the ONLY scenario I see it happening; that, or win the AAC torunament. Coach Fernandez said after the game on Saturday they'll be flying back; it isn't prudent for the team to miss 3 days of classes to save money on plane tickets; plus, the extra hotel costs would likely outweigh plane costs
  19. I thought that as well, during the game; outside of UConn, this was definitely the best crowd we've had all season. Hopefully we luck out and they get a decent first-round weekend location (Tallahassee, Gainesville and Columbia, SC are all possibilities); it would really suck if they had to go out to the west coast.
  20. If the tournament were to start today, It's a fair prediction they'd be heading to Tally as the 7 seed; possibly against Tennessee, who should be thankful to be getting a bid.
  21. It's on par with their game; they put up a lot of shots, get a lot of offensive rebounds and second-chance points. At the end of the day, it's a W, and it's one that puts us at 21-8 on the season, and pretty much clinched the 2nd consecutive NCAA tournament, and 5th straight postseason. No complaints here.
  22. Huge win for a lot of reasons: #2 seed in the AAC is clinched If they were to lose this game, and lose at UConn, the an NCAA bid would have very likely depended on the AAC tourney, and we've all seen how they've played on the road. Now, it's hard to envision any scenario where they don't earn a bid, even with a 2nd round AAC tourney loss. Looking at the box score, the ball was spread out all over; this team is way, way more than a one-Williams show; every single player on that team is capable of contributing in a big way.
