  1. For those who haven't been to a game, or maybe just went to UConn, this will (likely, barring a disastrous finish) be your last chance to see 2 of the greatest student-athletes in USF's history in Alisia Jenkins and Courtney Williams; in addition, USF could lock up the #2 seed in the AAC, and most likely an NCAA tournament birth with a win. It's at 2:00 tomorrow at the Sun Dome. See you all there!
  2. Final attendance was 337. that has to be the lowest number they've played in front of this season.
  3. Yep, this game was the equivalent of a wrestler grabbing the tights, holding the rope, getting the fast 3-count and running to the back as fast as they can... But a W's a W, and this should seal up an NCAA bid. A loss here would have been a grenade.
  4. Memphis is 16-10, fresh off a 5-OT win over 3rd-place Temple, who probably is seeking a late run for an outsider's shot at an NCAA tournament birth USF is 18-7, off a loss to Louisville. A loss here would put them on the bubble, no doubt; hopefully, the team can keep playing like we have at home and take care of business. Tickets are inexpensive, you'll have time to watch the 2nd half of a bunch of cars going around in circles for 3 hours, and it's a fun team to watch! See you all there!
  5. We have games against the 1st, T2nd, and 4th place teams, and Tulsa; win the three of these that we should, and we're solidly in. Win two, and we're on the bubble; lose three or four, and it's time to hit the panic button. We are a better team than Temple and Memphis at home, and Tulsa on the road. Every game matters now, folks. Get to the games, if for no other reason than watching one of the greatest athletes in USF history close out her career.
  6. I'll take people that didn't watch Temple play UConn even for an entire half for $200, Alex. Memphis, to me, is the only bad loss. By the by: Creme has finally taken his head out of the sand, and put Temple in his bracketology, where they've belonged for the last month.
  7. Considering how badly this team has played on the road, I'm OK with a 4-point deficit at the half. Gotta tighten up down low, though, and get rid of the turnovers!
  8. To compare to last year, the worst team to get an at-large bid, RPI-wise, was Miami, who went 19-13 with the #41 SOS; USF is currently 18-6 with the #67 SOS. They need to win every game but Louisville and UConn, and make at least a semi-finals appearance to lock down the bid. Otherwise they'll be on the edge of their seats on Selection Monday.
  9. IMHO, Memphis was the only "bad loss"; the rest were on the road to teams that are on the tournament bubble (or should be) and UConn, a team that is the equivalent of Alabama football in FCS. The game that could very well knock us out of the tournament is a week from Wednesday, a mid-week road matchup against a 10-15 Tulsa squad we haven't seen this season. They lose there, and you might as well order the "2016 WNIT" banner that night.
  10. Agreed; Road losses to top 25 teams rarely hurt a team's profile, and we've never been blown out this season by mortal (non-UConn) teams (sans perhaps MSU back in December); all of the losses could have been wins, and outside of Memphis all of them were against teams with winning records. Now, does a loss to Louisville and UConn (twice, including AAC tourney) put us at an 7-10 seed in USC's bracket? Probably.
  11. This. They underperform on the road, there's no other way to slice it. At home, they put up a better fight against UConn than South Carolina did Monday night, but later down the road they lose to Temple (okay, they're a solid team), and Memphis (NOT a solid team, at all) on the road. A 20-win season certainly isn't out of reach. They play a 7-16 Cincy team on the road tomorrow, then Louisville; we need to win out (sans UConn, nobody's beating them this year, folks) to have a shot at a top 4, including Louisville. Otherwise, look at us travelling to Tally or Gainesville.
  12. Alicia is injured, and Coach Fernandez is trying to ease her back into playing; Stringfield is an underrated 6th woman, and she's contributing plenty; it's simple, stupid mistakes that cost us the game, and a top-4 seed, yesterday. I'm stunned we didn't get destroyed in the Massey ratings; we only dropped 5 spots. I think we're #24 or #25 come Tuesday.
  13. Glad to see them get the easy W against Cincy; Saturday's game is crucial, against 3rd-place Temple; the way they've played on the road, I'm hoping they can get out of the trap game with another win.
  14. Luckily, the next 2 games are tomorrow at UCF (I'll be going, it's right before the Royal Rumble) and home against Houston, 2 teams that are 4-14; hopefully, the Memphis game was a learning opportunity, and we can win all but 2 of the remaining games to have a distant shot at hosting
  15. Memphis shot the lights out from the line. Win at UCF on Sunday, and we're maybe still in the T25, but probably 22-23 range.
  16. http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/bracketology We've moved up in Creme's Bracketology to a 4-seed, which means hosting 2 games again. I think we need to go 16-2 in conference play (losing to UConn) and have 2 more respectable losses to UConn to be secure in that top-4 territory. The rest of the AAC just hasn't got it this year, we could very well be a 2-team league (though Tulane should absolutely be a 3rd team, and it blows my mind how ECU isn't better than 8-10)
  17. Freaking this. A loss here would have made us 10-5 and a bonafide bubble watch team. This game was crucial, and dumb turnovers like that kill me. Just hold on to the damned ball, even 1/2 FT's is a plus versus a turnover.
  18. For those cheapskates like me who will happily drive down to Miami and the crack of dawn tomorrow morning, USF plays a talented, undefeated Oklahoma State team today at 2 PM. If you haven't seen this team yet, they're well worth your time!
  19. It would mean a lot to me even if we were 0-11; I interned at UCF during the Summer between my two grad school years; I have a lot of respect for their academics and the institution, but their athletics program causes a level of hatred that is shared only with Disney World during the summer and Nancy Grace; they hired a coach who lied on his resume, that coach was negligent and indirectly killed a player; their baseball coach was fired for simulating **** on another staff member. I like UCF, but I want UCF Athletics to be as miserable as humanly possible.
  20. Unfortunately, we may not be able to host an NCAA game next weekend with the AAC semis/finals at Corbett... Hopefully they can find a work-around. EDIT: Which means a Saturday night game, most likely. ****. Decisions, decisions...
  21. Friday: The women's basketball team, potentially one of the best teams in USF History, of any sport, start their season at 6:00 PM The men's basketball team also starts their season at 8:30 PM The Men's FutBulls play UConn in the Semi-Finals of the AAC tournament, at home. Saturday: The football team has a chance to pull a top 25 upset, and clinch their first bowl game in 5 years. Sunday: If all goes well on Friday, the FutBulls play for the AAC championship at 2 PM What I'm getting at is CANCEL YOUR PLANS NEXT WEEKEND, PEOPLE!
  22. After the huge football victory, our men's soccer team came back in the last 20 minutes of regulation to draw SMU 2-2; definitely a chippy game between the top two teams in the AAC, no doubt the rematch at Corbett in November will be fun, considering they'll likely be meeting in the finals if they're both in the top 3. Men's and Women's soccer teams are both on pace to make the NCAA tournament (I'd almost call the women's team a lock), and likely have a game or two at home; the men's team will play their entire AAC tourney at home, as the top seed hosts the first round match and Corbett is the site of the semis and final. It's a great time to be a Bull!
