  1. Ok, let me put it in terms (most) everyone on here can relate with..... There are 4 or 5 girls you can take to the prom and you are an average looking junior. 3 or 4 of the girls are super sexy seniors, but they have a reputation for being a little snobbish and prude. The other girl is a dog ugly underclassman, but you know she will put out and you know she will say yes to your invitation to go to the prom, even if you only ask her a day or two before the dance. Clearly, USF is the guy here......and the dog ugly underclassman....the Knights. Why shouldn't USF aim high first and try to bag one of the "sexy" schools for a few home and homes before asking the dog to the dance?
  2. Listen, I highly doubt this is a matter of holier than though or dodging or "swelling" to the point that we are above UCF. I just think it comes down to USF waiting to see if we can secure the Miami series. If we can, that is the series USF definitely wants. At the same time, FSU's schedule is opening up in future years as well. I would not be surprised if we were at least trying to get one home and home scheduled with them. There is also the possibility of getting a home and home with Florida considering the fact that we are giving them 2 in Gaysville. If those possibilities fall through, I am sure we will schedule UCF into the future. But lets remember, USF has not gotten as far as they have in 10 years by just blindly jumping on the first chance that comes their way. The UCF series is not going anywhere and USF can elect it at its leisure. For all of those saying we can schedule both series with UCF and Miami......you are probably right.....if we do not want to have a national presence. In any given year that would give us upwards of 8-9 games in Florida. I for one would like games against the SEC schools (Miss, Miss St. LSU, UGA, Tenn.) but if we do not have flexibility in our future schedules, games like that become even more difficult to sign. USF is doing the right thing here.....hold your cards until you are forced to play 'em
  3. Amen....Its about time. I think the real Bulls fans couldn't be happier....
  4. All the recent negative posts from turkey are gone.....
  5. To be honest, it looks like someone embroderied it themselves. It looks like a good professional job, and I could be wrong, but I do not see any licensed apparel tags on it.
  6. Its funny that the Spring Game Tickets are free, but if you go through the link the school just emailed me it takes you to a Ticketmaster site and you end up paying $3.50 per ticket. Eric, do you know if we can just walk-up the day of the game and get a free ticket, or must we have them in hand. I don't mind paying the $7.00, but if it is just a waste of money, I'd rather wait until the day of the game
  7. Are they only available to season ticket holders or do they go on sale to the general public? I am finishing up law school and funds are a little tight, so I probably won't be buying my season tix until next year, but my wife and I were still hoping to go to the spring game.
  8. Triple, I obviously put ELITE in quotes because I was using the term very loosely. I do not believe he is an elite coach. He is good, but not elite.
  9. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Mike Davis saying that what ever team he signs with is guarenteed OJ Mayo as well? Intersting, both Davis and Huggins can't possibly sign the same guy, can they? And while we are on the subject of OJ Mayo, how long do you think he will stay and play in college? I am guessing 1 year. I know some of you will say, "But he is worth it to get our school the national acclaim it needs." Ok, I will grant you that he would get us national attention, but one player for one year does not a program make. If you are interested in making a winning tradition at USF you need a few years of good TEAMS. Finally, I know having an "elite" coach such as Huggins seems like such a great idea to many of you, but remember, he is likely to use us as a stepping stone. I firmly believe he will use as a stepping stone the second the opportunity presents itself. I don't want to get burned like the Knights are going to get burned by O'Leary in 2 years. With all that being said, lets chill out and see how next year goes, thats not asking too much. If we underachieve next season with all of the talent we have coming in, then I will join all of you in burning R-Mac in effigy. (Although I do not foresee that happening.) Until that time, remember the infinite wisdom of that old diddy by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young: If you can't be with the one you love, LOVE THE ONE YOU'RE WITH!!!!
  10. Its not just the DUI thing (although he was too intoxicated to take the breathalyzer). It is also the punks he recruits and his 0% graduation rate. But in his defense he had that all the way up to a 25% rate at the start of the 04-05 season....bravo.
  11. McMurphy is an idiot douche bag. If you look at what Woolard is saying, they evaluate at the end of EVERY season. The fact that Wooldard is saying RMC will be back NEXT season does not make him a dead man walking. (However, another 6-21 record will). It simply means that there is no doubt that RMC will coach AT LEAST next year. That is yet another reasons why even my cats won't go to the bathroom on the Tampa Tribune.
  12. Going 0-fer sucks, no one in their right mind would say otherwise. But I do believe that this season has made Coach Mac a BETTER coach and I hope that will translate into greater success in the future. He has now shown that he can get the most out of his players and, given some talent and some better luck, I believe we will be an upper-middle of the pack (10-6 or 9-7) Big East team for quite some time. Lets face reality, even if Bob Huggins were our coach this year, we would be lucky to have 2-3 conference wins (with the same roster). At the absolute best we would be hovering around .500 overall. Is that better than our current plight, absoultely. But in the grand scheme of things a season without any postseason tournament is a failing campaign. And another thing that bugs me: I don't want my school associated with outcast, leftover, drunk-ass, cheating coaches....Period. I would take another season of misery over hiring a creep like Huggins or a cheat like Harrick. Hell, Dave Bliss might be interested in our coaching job, why don't we give him a look....give me a break. Plus, anyone of these goons will simply be looking to use USF as a platform to jump to a more "marquee" school once their "reputation" was restored. (See UCF in 2 years). Remember, players that could have come back this year kept their medical redshirt status. We were not playing for this year at all. We are preparing for next year, and if Coach Mac doesn't cut it by then, then I too will want him fired. But until then lets all try to unbunch our panties and calm down a bit.
  13. • The Lower Class Principle (12): If your team plays in a mid-major or low-major league and manages to coax (or trick) a BCS-conference school into visiting and you win the game, a storming is allowed. Exceptions: Memphis, Gonzaga or any other school whose program is demonstrably larger than its conference profile. Also: beating a certifiably horrible BCS-conference school (Baylor, Arizona State, Purdue, South Florida or anyone with an RPI worse than 150) is not worth the effort. Somewhat funny excerpt from Forde's Minutes on ESPN.com in which he goes over the rules for storming the court in college basketball. Conspicuous in its absence is any mention of taserings.... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=2306416
  14. Wow, I have not posted here in sometime, but it seems that you all are losing your minds. For those of you "offended," don't watch. They are not your kids, and therefore not your problem. I can see how dance moves like that would be questionable, but they are only "sexual" if you receive them that way. I doubt those girls are dancing with even a hint of sexuality in mind. I just love how when people don't agree with something they have to protest it. Live and let live. If its not your thing, then its not your thing. (Personally 8-12 year olds dancing is not my thing, but i am not going to spend my time worrying about it) With that being said, I would much rather see a halftime show where Capko and Co. get to go out and make 5 uncontested layups so that we might actually win again this season.
  15. Cursing is going to happen. Even the most chaste of us let a few words slip in the heat of the moment. If you raise your kids correctly, hearing a few words of curse at a football game is not going to make a scintilla of difference. Seeing a drunk slob drop an f-bomb or two might actually be good for a properly raised child, so they know precisely why they shouldn't drink and use that type of language. We all have our personal opinions and preferences regarding swearing, but you also have to realize that it is not a crime. I personally do not like some of the wardrobe decisions of many of the fans at the game or the way they wear their hair, but it is none of my business. If an adult lets out a few words at a game, oh well. Now if that denegrates into every other word being an f-bomb and he becomes beligerent and makes it difficult for others around him to watch and enjoy the game, that is another story. Determining where your rights end and mine begin is always a tricky science, but when an entire football section is made uncomfortable by the LOUD and REPEATED acts of one fan, that is a pretty obvious case.
  16. However you may feel about the coach or where the program is or isn't going, you have to tip your hat to those players. The effort they gave last night was outstanding. Outrebounding a team the caliber of WVU by even a few with a full squad is an accomplishment, but flat-out dominating the boards like they did was incredible. I know the turnovers are a BIG problem, but watching last night's game, I realized that about half of our turnovers occur due to fatigue rather than purely poor play. A backdoor cut thats not made quickly enough or not at all due to tired legs and a pass that is just out of the reach of an exhausted player is going to be the reality this year. If we have 2 more decent players out there we win by 15-20 points. The only reason WVU was able to win is the players are forced to take about 2 minutes every 10 minutes or so to catch their breath. Don't you find it interesting that WVU pulled away by 9 after a 7-0 streak only to have USF bring it back within 2 with the ball and a chance to take the lead? The only reason we got down 9 to begin with is because the players take noticeable breaks while on the court. I just ask that all of you disappointed fans stop and acknowledge the effort of these 6 young men, rather than constantly ripping the program and awaiting the firing of R-Mac. You know what to expect from the rest of the season and lowered expectations suck, but this was definitely a moral victory if there ever was one. R-Mac had a phenomenal game plan and the players executed well from the floor. Celebrate the few bright spots we will have this year rather than ripping on the team and the fans who are trying to keep their chins up through these troubling times.
  17. Tremedously tragic situation. My heart goes out to the Dungy's. FYI, I have a source very close to the situation who has informed me that it was suicide by hanging, what a shame, what a loss.
  18. Pres. Bush did what he "felt" was right by invading Iraq. If the Pres. can make a mistake based on feelings, so can high school sports stars. Just like Bush, Ingram relied on bad intelligence/information that led him into a less than desireable situation.
  19. Thats actually funny, because taking a sledgehammer to the head is a prerequisite to attending UCF!
  20. So you really think Leavitt is striving for mediocrity? You don't think he wanted to win those two games? You don't think he has dedicated his life to football? To say that we "underachieved" this year is one thing. I personally can't recall your post in which you said we were going to win the Big East, or even be in contention in the last two weeks, but my memory has failed me before in the past. If you generally had those expectations at the beginning of the season thats one thing. However, if the exceptional coaching and play that we got in the Louisville game and then against Rutgers and Syracuse created those expectations, that is something wholly different.  I don't think you will find a person on this board who is not disappointed in the performance of our team the past two weeks (at least last week, I believe we were facing a better team last night). For some of us however that disappointment has not manifested itself into unmitigated anger and rage. I really think the other issues in your life are weighing heavily on your mind and subconsciously affecting the way you evaluate this seasons performance and that of our ball coach. And before you jump all over me for analyzing you, aren't you doing the same to coach Leavitt? I will grant you our offense flat out stunk this year and without Andre the Giant we are lucky to win 3 games. But if I recall correctly, Coach Leavitt is a defensive specialist. He admittedly needs great offensive minds around him in order to take this team to the promise land. It is at this point that the discussion about improving USF Football needs to center. Now that his contract grants him more money to pay assistant coaches, he can hopefully bring in some better offensive minds to help us work with the tremendous amount of talent we have on the offensive side of the football. Imagine John Gruden without Monte Kiffin or Tony Dungy without Tom Moore. I do have to complement you, for someone with such extensive football knowledge you do an exceptional job of hiding it.
  21. Greater enrollment because of an on-campus stadium? What are you basing this on?
  22. Andre is the man, but does he have to wear that t-shirt? For those of you who are not aware, the snowman on H2's shirt is a reference to a Coke/Crack dealer. It has been popularized by drug dealer-turned rapper Young Jeezy. The drug dealers are known as "Snowmen" and hence the logo. Quite frankly, I cannot say I am too happy that Andre is wearing that shirt out, even if it is in private. I just don't want our school to get a reputation like those punk-asses down in Miami. Let me add that I am not some tight-ass who is going to freak out over something like that, but he is becoming a role model and will be an NFL'er and he plays CHESS for God's sake!!!
  23. Hey zonald, I will buy those tickets off of ya! Where are they located?
  24. [singing] Don't you know that there, Ain't no bowl game (ticket cost) high enough, Ain't no bowl game far enough..... To keep me from watchin' my Andre
