  1. "He says I am the best TIGHT END RECEIVER on the team!"
  2. how can we expect to recruit the most FABULOUS players with mediocre, drab, boring uniforms leavitt has had 9 years to get with the fashionistas in the Tampa Bay area to design him uniforms i heard we just lost two local 5 star fashion designers to Michigan and Florida how can Leavitt allow these designers to leave he has had 9 years to get to know them from middle school through fashion school urban meyer only had 2 years to get to know these amazing designers usf will NEVER be anything until we can keep the best local designers and develop an AMAZING uniform scheme all we have right now are international academy of design dropouts
  3. http://www.benmaller.com/ "Pitt may have to move the kickoff for its Sept. 16 home football game against Michigan State from 3:30 p.m. to noon because of poor planning by the athletic department. If that happens, and at this point it is a definite possibility, it likely would cost the school thousands of dollars in television revenue and penalties as well as from the dropoff in ticket sales generally associated with earlier kickoffs at Heinz Field. The sticking point is a lack of available parking spots because the Pirates play host to the New York Mets at 7:05 that night and, by contract, are guaranteed to have a large number of the parking spaces in the lots between the two stadiums available to their customers at least two hours before the first pitch. That means many of the parking lots that Pitt sells pre-paid parking passes for will be locked when Pitt fans arrive for the football game earlier that day." I guess having the D-Rays in St. Pete isn't so bad after all. ÂÂ
  4. They didn't catch us. You could make a very easy arguement that we played a much more difficult OOC as well. How can you say that we lost this recruiting battle when these guys have yet to play their senior years in HS, nor have yet to set foot on campus from their Freshman year of college? CARDS HAD A TOUGHER SCHEDULE THEY DID NOT PLAY 1AA TEAM CARDS BEAT PITT AND UCONN LOUISVILLE BEAT 8 BCS TEAMS USF BEAT 4 BCS TEAMS WHILE IT IS TRUE BULLS BEAT CARDS EVERONE THOUGH CARDS WERE A BeTTER TEAm by end of the year with the acquisition of simms the strong get stronger See my post on the main board for how clueless and uninformed you are on this one. Rivals ranks both Simma and Voss as IMPACT PLAYERS at the D-I level. Voss comes from a small town, small school, and his daddy wasn't an NFL QB.....BIG DEAL. That means nothing on the field. Why don't you get your panties out of a bunch and wait and see how things play out on the field there Nostradamus.
  5. Lets here it for the LAWLER and UCS polls in which we are 25 and 30!!!! I always said those are the only two polls that matter. GO BULLS!!!!!
  6. That's not what smazza would say.  Seriously, if a freshman can crack the line-up and grab playing time then I say you give it to him.  It will help the future of this team because playing time will develop those players.  Besides, both are not the only players at their position in this recruiting class.  If Keeley gets minutes you can still RS Aston Samuels, and at WR Sherman and Alcin to provide more depth in future years. wrong again sbien dont you get tired of 'bieng' wrong smazza says if freshman wins a starting position you dont redshirt him and you start him otherwise redshirt em smazza also says that at this point in usf's development usf should be bringing in several freshman everyyear that can take positions from upperclassman but usf's recruiting as we all know as not been up to snuff fyi-mike and mike in the morning said matt simms was 13th rated qb prospect in the usa He is better than Alton Voss in name alone. If Phil Voss was a Super Bowl winning QB with the New York Giants, everybody would be all over Alton. Look at the rivals page where they got that information. They have Simms ranked in the same NUMERICAL TIER as Voss. 5.5 v. 5.7......not too big of a difference, if any. I guess we will just have to wait and see in 2 or 3 years, won't we Smazz. http://www.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=43255&Sport=1 http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=41836&Sport=1
  7. Let me ask you this Ari.....what if the Bulls go out and play .500 ball this year? Are you still calling for Mac's head? I truly think you and your lackeys/other personas are pulling for Mac and the Bulls to fail this season, which is total BS. Why don't you wait and see how the season plays out before you go calling for a new coach. I personally think the Bulls will surprise some this year.
  8. My bad.....internet was down this weekend, had to wait to come into work to get caught up with Bulls Nation.
  9. The Good: Our meteoric rise to the forefront (albiet toward the rear of the forefront) of college football. The Better: Is yet to come. Big East Titles and BCS upsets. The Bad: Having to wait 8 long, arduous months between games......GO BULLS!!!!!
  10. We have all discussed the new rules regarding the time keeping off the game. The following link will lead us to new rules for fans, many of whih are VERY applicable to some of the members of this board. Lets have some fun with this; see if you can match the new rule to the board member(s) to which the new rule should apply. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=2544246
  11. I love having former QB's at the safety position. They have that offensive mind set and can think like the passer. This should only add to his athleticism. This move tells me that Grothe is going to be the man, and I think it also says that Alton Voss will be committing to USF very shortly. There is no way the coaches make this move if they didn't have some confidence about the future of our notoriously weak position.
  12. Smazza, did you ever think that kids leave the area to get away from home? I know a lot of players like to stay local, but college is a time to leave the nest and sow your wild oats. I think USF is gaining momentum and recogniztion. I think we are one Big East Championship away from completely blowing up as a university. When we make out first BCS game, and leading up to that point, we will get more positive pub than in the last 9 years combined. I just hope we get to play someone like UF, FSU, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and the likes in that game so we can show the college football worl what USF is all about. (Remember, with our young RBs, awesome receiving corps, and amazing D, we are a solid QB and decent kicker away from contending for the BE Championship THIS season.) P.S.- I think we might have that solid QB on our team right now and he is only a freshman. Look at Penn State last year...a lot of question marks, but a great season.....beware of the Bull in '06
  13. I like PBS for the linebacking corp, but I like the Mean Green Machine for the entire defense.
  14. Correct me if I am wrong, but a college graduate usually needs to get a JOB and establish themselves before they can consider buying season tickets. This is my first year as a season ticket holder. I am a graduate of the Class of '03, but I went on to law school and now I am FINALLY in a position where I could buy season tickets. I think that this is the case for many recent graduates; need to start a family/career/finish schooling before buying those tix. Season tickets start at just $119. If what you say is on the mark...then the classes of 01, '02 and '03 aren't exactly knocking the doors down either. Remember  to buy season tickets you also must give a donation.  Also, let's presume that those people might want a companion ticket.  SO, double that cost, add a $100 donation, and then you're getting the effect.  Now, tell someone that's making say $40k, with a car payment, insurance, apartment, utilities, and entertainment and misc. living expenses to insure they carve out roughly $350 plus service charges, and tax.  Bring your total to over $375 minimum for what's undoubtly the worst seats in the house.  That's a car payment, a rent payment, etc.  That's a person that's roughly making $1,200 every two weeks and the expenses I mentioned above, presuming they try to live comfortably, will be minimally $1,800, before weekly entertainment, groceries, gas, clothes, etc. It isn't that easy.  Oh, and don't forget your alumni association dues, and....it all adds up. The 119 tickets are in the endzone and do not require a donation.  2 cost me 244 out the door and that is a much better situation than paying for 2 tickets every week.  Season tickets will always be a better seat that walk up tickets.  They want season ticket holders and therefore they will make it more appealing.  Have your facts right before you start spewing nonsense. Actually, you are not right about the walk up tickets. I have been living off of single game tickets for the past three years now and I have never sat worse than the 15 yard line. Those tickets are not available right now on ticketmaster because USF is still selling them as season tickets, but as it comes closer to gameday they release the tickets they have been holding back. Trust me on this. But you are right about the donation thing, it is only required for the "premium" sideline sections.
  15. The point is that the person is not going to buy SEASON tickets when they can get better INDIVIDUAL game tickets at or near the same price. These fans are still showing up to some individual games, but they are not investing in season tickets due to the added expense to get the same (or very similar) quality seats. The cost of attending 3 home games is only $300 or so (parking and refreshments included) versus attending 6 home games at a cost of almost $800. That is a sizeable difference and an explanation for our decent attendance despite having lower season ticket sales.

Excuse me but, I believe you are wrong...there isn't any donation required to purchase season tickets for $119 each. If a college grad making $40 grand can't afford $119 a year for ($238 for a pair) seats (Entertainment)...they have a serious problem. I don't know where you get your tickets (maybe you don't have them), but the "service''/handling fee on my season tickets is only $5/account and there isn't any tax added to the price of the tickets. Turkey, I do not think at that point (making $40k) that it is as much about the money when you are talking about entry level season tickets. The problem lies in the donation required to get decent seats. Anything short of $250 and you are behind the 10 yard line, or worse. The problem is that the fan who would buy the cheap season tickets would get worse seats than buying individual game tickets, so there is no incentive to buy those season tickets (except being on the list of ticket holders so you can have priority in upgrading). Once you add the $154 for the decent seats to the $250 donation and the almost $100 to park, the real total is actually about $650 for the season. And lets hope that the season ticket holder and his guest do not get thirsty or hungry during the course of the game. If they were to spend $10 each at each game (a soda and a snack) for refreshments, they are now adding an additional $120 to the cost, making the TOTAL cost of holding two season tickets $778.00 ($389/seat; $65/game/seat). This does not include the potential for other tangible costs such as gasoline, babysitting, etc.) I am not saying that more should not be willing to contribute, but the slow growth is not surprising giving the factors I went over in previous posts.
  17. You are right, I should not cast judgement. I should leave that for the Washington Redskins fans.....I wonder what they think? ;D
  18. I agree with what you are saying to an extent. But if luck and emotion still have a team winning or in a game after playing 55+ minutes, it is impossible to say which team the decrease in time benefits. I could understand if they wanted to shorten the game to 4, 10 minutes quarters, but my point is that it is incalcuable to determine which team the reduction in time will benefit without looking at each game individually. Obviously a team that is favored to win and that just scored a go ahead touchdown with 15 seconds to play is getting an advantage on the underdog. His statement does not take into consideration the underdogs who would need a few more seconds to win a game.
  19. Correct me if I am wrong, but a college graduate usually needs to get a JOB and establish themselves before they can consider buying season tickets. If what you say is on the mark...then the classes of 01, '02 and '03 aren't exactly knocking the doors down either. It is tough to say, and what you are saying definitely would detract from my theory of at least 600 new season ticket holders annually. But we do not know how many NEW season ticket holders there are versus NON-RENEWALS. That is an important distinction to be made. Those would be some numbers I would be interested in seeing. What is the turnover rate on our season tickets? Why are people not renewing? If our ticket sales department could pinpoint the issues surrounding non-renewals, maybe they could rectify the problems. (I'm not saying they don't do this already, I guess Eric could chime in on what is current;y being done). A good idea might be a survey sent out with the renewal notices, to see what the season ticket holders want and to get an idea for non-renewals. Another option would be to offer incentives to those non-renewers who re-up. Just my 2 cents. Obviously there are various external forces in effect that would have a direct impact on season ticket sales. First of all the economy dictates how much disposable income one will have to spend on entertainment. Another important factor is the ability of a fan to purchase better tickets for individual games without having to make a season ticket donation. For the past 4 years I have been able to procure better seats as a non-season ticket holder than I would have by being a non-donating season ticket holder. And of course, quality of opponents plays a large role. To all i would say this, we are a young team with a young fan base. It will take time and winning to grow. Wait and see season ticket sales the year following our first Big East Championship.....I bet there will be a sizeable increase when that occurs.
  20. "I think it will help the underdog teams," South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier told USA Today. "If you're the underdog, obviously you would like fewer plays in the game." Idiot! It won't help an underdog who is trailing and trying to make a comeback. It has nothing to do with teams that are favored, it just eliminates some of the excitement from the game if there is a late comeback occurring. I actually think this might help USF. Defense is obviously our strength, and the less the other team's offense can run plays, the less chance they have of getting lucky and scoring on "The Green Wall of Tampa" (we need to name our defense, **** the fact that Gang Green has been taken!)
  21. I think those fans without ties account for some of the 20,000 + non-season ticket holders who show up for our more 'desireable" games (See: Pitt, UL, etc). It is not reasonable to expect someone with no ties to USF to become a season ticket holder. I am not saying that does not occur, but it is more likely to be the exception than the rule. So long as we are getting 35,000 to 45,000 at a game, I will be satisfied for the time being. Wait until the Miami game, I am betting we top 50k easily, and a lot of those will be fans of football coming to see a good game.
  22. Correct me if I am wrong, but a college graduate usually needs to get a JOB and establish themselves before they can consider buying season tickets. 23. The amount of time the program has been around plays a tremendous part in the season tickets sold. Think of it this way, lets say conservatively that USF graduates 6,000 students per year. Of the 6,000 lets say only 1 out of 20 are football fans (seems pretty conservative). That would equate to 300 fans from each graduating class. Thus far, in its 10 years of existence, USF has only had 2 full graduating classes. This would suggest that almost all of the 16,000-17,000 season tickets sold are held by alumni who graduated before USF fielded a team. Now lets say that the 300 football fans from each graduating class only account for an additional 600 season tickets sold annually. Over the next decade that would represent an additional 6,000 season tickets and over the next 20 years, 12,000 season tickets. That would place us at 28,000 to 29,000 season ticket holders by the year 2026, based on extremely conservative estimates. (And I know there will be turnover and a lot of you older board members will be long dead by then , but lets assume that the turnover from death and financial limitations is cancelled out by additional season ticket purchasers) Just food for thought. I'm bored at work!
  24. I believe the FSU game is first, followed by the USF game (Save the best for last!)
