  1. I will go one step further with the Green and Gold Optimism and point out that next year not only should we be vying for a BE Title....We have a lsight shot at going undefeated and making a case for the National Title. Before I get laughed off of this site, hear me out. If we can finish strong and knock off either Ville or WVU and get to 9-4 or 10-3 after a bowl victory, we should get some national cred and be ranked or near ranked at the start of next season. We begin with Elon and UCF, two teams we should handle easily and get the rust off quickly. Then comes the big one. What I think could be the biggest game in our fledgling programs history, the roaddie against Auburn. While they are a great team, their offense does not scare me one bit. We will have to play flawlessly, but we can win that game. If we do, there is our marquee non-conf win and a top 10-15 ranking. Then comes UNC and Fla Atl. There is nothing that makes me think that these are not two VERY winnable games. That would put us at 5-0 with WVU and Ville at home. Road tests against Pitt and Rutgers will be tough, but just imagine the possibilities. My hopes are rising for this year, and by next year they may very well be astronomical. I hope many join me in wearing these Green and Gold goggles that allow me to see such a possibility for next season. (*Let me add a caveat that this post is based upon our team continuing to progress and there being no significant injuries/defections/arrests/failed drug tests)
  2. I don't agree entirely. WVU is going to get to play Louisville, Rutgers, and PITT (as well as US.... ) I thnk their SOS will rise to around 40 or so. If that is the case, then an undefeated WVU is likely in a championship game. Texas worries me a bit, becuase their loss would have been nearly a season ago by the time all is said and done. But we could really use a ND victory over USC and another Auburn and UF loss along the way too.
  3. I truly believe we will need to have 7 wins to go bowling. I think 6 is a real stretch for a team with little history and a fledgling fan base.
  4. It will all work out in due time. With the games WVU and Ville have if either one of them are undefeated at the end of the season and USC loses one along the way, then the BE is likely to have a team in the National Championship game.
  5. You are not the first singing his praises. I gave him major props after the UCF game. I think he is using his personnel pretty **** well. And I also hink that personnel is performing at a level that makes him look good as well. Smith has been mixing things up pretty well thus far this year. Now with Ponton back I believe we are really going to see some great things out of this offense.
  6. The QB runs are essential to our offensive effectiveness for a variety of reasons. While I don't think they should be completely eliminated, cutting them back is a pretty good idea. You have to keep in mind that the QB-keeper keeps the defense honest. It opens up more for our running backs and WR's. With the threat of Grothe taking off, the LB's have to stay on their toes and play a step up, this opens up the crossing routes to our WR;s (Amarri, C. Hill, and even the FB today).
  7. no, because the first team we tried it against moved the returner to the right of the field (facing in USF's direction) where the kick had landed twice before or so and then teachey kicked it way to the left and over 40 yards on the bounce. I know, but what I am saying is that teams could put one man deep down the middle, and one short to the right and one short to the left. With the way USF lines up with 3 guys blocking immediately in front of Teachey, this is a possibility.
  8. Sickening.... > I pray that never happens at The New (and improved) U!
  9. On that punt by Teachey that got returned I turned to the gentlement sitting next to me at the game and said, look, they have it figured out, they put a guy right where Teachey lands it, and sure enough, he catches it on the fly and runs up field. This could turn into a problem for us if teams begin to stagger the return guys in position to field it in the air or off the first bounce.
  10. I predict 12:15 pm. I will only miss a few pllays. Plane lands at 11:35 am. I will be in the first row, with no luggage. I will sprint to a cab, tip him to get me there quick, and hightail it to the stadium. If there is traffic, I will get out and jog the last mile if need be. It is only 15 miles from the airport to the stadium, with about 12 being on the interstate. I should be ok. THe only thing that could stop me is a mechanical problem with the plane (knocks rapidly on wood). It is one crazy day though. By 3:30 pm I should be celebrating a Bulls victory on Franklin Street. Then by 5:15 it is back to the airport to catch my 7pm flight back to Tampa. WHAT A DAY!!!! GO BULLS!!!!!
  11. We are facing one horrible run defense again this week. I would look for more on the ground, opening up the passing game somewhat. If we play with the lead early, as I believe we will, I say 240-250. My plane leaves at 9:50 am.....I hope there are no delays!!!
  12. I love the sideline shots of Wanny laughing. He cannot believe how BADDD UCF is. I swear, at least three times they have shown him and he has a Shat-eating grin on his face, shaking his head. Like taking candy from a deaf, blind, mongoloid, armless, baby!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D
  13. It is one thing to disagree with OPINIONS.....It is another to make an ASSERTION OF FACT and not back it up. And we have the right to call out whomever we want, whenever we want.
  14. I know, but I have depositions and EUO's in the afternoon on Friday up in Pasco, so if those ran too long, I would have missed my Friday evening flight. I will take the chance that the plane is on time. It is coming in from North Carolina and the weather should be clear, so as long as there is no mechanical delay, I should be ok.
  15. What time does your flight get in sat am? I was thinking about doing but I felt like it was going to be cutting it too close with a noon kickoff. I am flying in tomorrow night on Southwest leaving TPA at 8pm, anyone else on that flight? 11:30 am. But with no wife and no luggage whatsoever, I should be able to get to the game by o later than 12:15. If there is a delay, I am going to give Southwest hell, get a refund, and rush to lee Roy Selmon's to watch the game, but Southwest is usually pretty reliable.
  16. T-Man, I am going to be at this one too! I am flying in the morning of the game and out at 7pm. You doing anything after the game, or are you packing up and heading back to NPR?
  17. I know that we sold out Rows A through Y. I bought one ticket a week ago (10/3) and I am in Row Z. So it seems like we will have at least 600 sitting in the USF section.
  18. He didn't look too injured on the first two drives of the second half!
  19. If he takes us out of the poll the answer is simple, we inflate UCF's numbers. This would really piss him off. Then if he takes UCF out of the poll, we inflate FSU's #'s. What is he going to do after that, have a poll over who is better UF or UM....ha!
  20. Anyone know where USF fans are relegated to for this game? I am torn, because if it is anything like the Kansas game, I might just sit in with the UNC fans and gets tickets on the 50 yard line that are still available. Kansas had so few Bulls fans present there wasn't an appreciable difference to warrant having such a bad seat (other than helping USF's ticket #s)
  21. Now that the time is set, I am going to fly in the day of the game at 11:30 am, watch the game and fly out the same night at 7 pm. It is cheaper for me to fly ($118.00) versus driving up (approximately $120.00 in gas plus mileage on my car). Anyone know if tickets are still available through the athletic dept?
  22. I didn't post anything about this???? I agree that the missed tackles are killing us. Someone needs to teach our DB's not to try and arm tackle the other teams legs.
  23. With the announcement that all of the Bowl Reps will be in attendance I would find it hard to believe if USF does not roll out the full red carpet, including our logo sans the white surrender flag. If you are going to wine and dine, you better plant and paint.
  24. Grothe needs some help......teams are beginning to key in on him as our only offensive threat. While I do believe he has the skills and talent to still create even when teams are scheming for him, we gotta get some help from other sources. And one more thing.....I say this pretty much every single big game, but for the love of God one of these days I will see it.......Please Rod Smith, Please, first offensive play of the game, play action, Grothe launches the ball down the sideline allowing a streaking Ean Randolph/Amarri/Taurus to get under the ball for the reception/TD. The worst that happens is a deep (40 or 50 yard) INT, better than most of our punts (prior to last week). But, on the flip-side, if we catch it and score, WATCH OUT. Our team plays so well with momentum. Look at all of our "big" wins last year ....UofL, Rutgers, UCF, 'Cuse....we jumped all over those teams and never looked back. I know we kinda, sorta tried it against Miami, but that was with an inferior QB. I think this play will totally work and long for the day I see it.
  25. THE HYPOTHETICAL RAISED BY ET IN THE INITIAL POST WAS BASED UPON THE PREMISE THAT THE BUCS LEFT TAMPA >>>>PRIOR TO RJS BEING BUILT<<<< LEAVING US AS THE LONE TENANT OF THE OLD SOMBRERO/TAMPA STADIUM. THAT WOULD MEAN SHOOP COULD DECORATE "THE BULLSPEN" AS HE SAW FIT.
