  1. The root of the problem may not be with the talent on the roster.  I believe the "missing piece" lies elswhere. You are an idiot, and anyone else that buys into this ridiculous, thinking.  Do you have any idea that this program was 1-AA five years ago.  Do you think BCS caliber players just grow on trees, and jump at the opportunity to play at USF?  Do you think just because you recruit a BCS caliber athlete, say like a Richard Clebert, they just stumble on campus at 18 years old capable of dominating against opponents that throw 22 and 23 year old offensive linemen at him that have been playing for four years against top level competition, can bench a bus, and are cagy and bigger!!!  They must develop into players just like our opponents and sometimes that can take 2 to 3 years. Do you think that USF gets a BCS moniker and suddenly 100 years of UF football doesn't matter to FL kids?  Are some of you so ignorant like turkey to suggest that despite going up against opponents almost weekly the past 7 years with USF having inferior overall talent, and yet still managing to win many more than he's lost, that problems lie with Leavitt?  The fact we win with defense and special teams demonstrates superior coaching, frankly great offenses are products of great talent, and we're still developing those guys.  I think a kid like Taurus Johnson is going to be sensational and is definitely a BCS talent  (8 BCS offers out of HS, including at one time a UF one), but he doesn't just come out of HS sensational they need to work.  Hell, even Chad Jackson at UF barily played as a freshman.... I understand some underachieving on offense and disappointments, but to many of you are disappointed because you're spoiled.  You've watched our coach almost land the Brent Schaeffers, and Cornelius Ingrams of the world when conventional wisdom should tell everyone we shouldn't even be on their radar screen.  You watched us go in down 10-0 at the half to #3 Oklahoma in 2002, or wallop #9 UL at home, and you think it all just comes easy.  Conventional wisdom says we should be struggling just like FAU, UCF, and FIU with our transition.  That it shouldn't be this easy.  Don't be so **** spoiled that you miss the forrest through the trees.  There are areas of improvement that are necessary, but I don't believe anyone can rationally call Leavitt's program underachieving for say another 3-4 more years.  After he's had the ability to consistently recruit at the 1-A level with the BCS moniker, after he's had the cash, and resources at his disposal for 5-7 years that all his competition has had for the past 40-50 years.  I can understand being disappointed with play calling, or recruiting, but overall, given the severe limitations and struggles Leavitt has had to overcome, nothing he has done to this point is nothing short of a miracle, and could never be construed as 'under-achieving' except by some ignorant internet fan demanding more than they conceivably know is possible. As for marketing, and management like Minotaur states, that's fine, sure in some areas we've underachieved, and those areas clearly fall under definite scrutiny.  But for anyone to suggest, or presume that Leavitt and this USF Football program (I am only talking football here) hasn't over-achieve is crazy! Ditto....
  2. I am only at the $250 donor level and wish I had the money to afford more. (I just graduated law school and do not have the disposable income yet, for at least a few more months.) The school gave me my education and the team gives me LOADS of excitement and entertainment. Plus, it is the one sporting event I can actually get my wife to go to (she is becoming ALMOST as rabid a fan as I am). If you want to help this program reach the next level, you have to dig deep. If that means forking over $250 for seats, so be it. And remember, the donation gets you at least 4 tickets (I Bull-ieve). So if you were to split that with some friends, it works out to something like $35.40 per game TOTAL this season (at the top of section 133, on the 20 yard line is where mine are, great view).....IT'S A STEAL!!!!!!!
  3. 133, Row AA (First Year as a Season Ticket Holder!!!)
  4. We may not win one in the near future, but one of the main reasons we even have a chance is because of the amazing work he has done at our school. Now you can go back to your UCF'er board and dream about trying to win a C-USA Championship while we stay her e and dream of winning a BCS Championship, something your team will NEVER have the chance to do if the status quo remains....which I hope it does!
  5. Come on...its one week and one lousy pt. Personally I think its cool to honor the school that offered your first job...especially if its at a program that is "stuck" with one of the highest admission requirements for athletes of any school. Hey...I never have liked Spurrier...but I think this move, which he does every year, is a nice gesture. KL PS. I don't think the polls would change if Spurrier gave that 25th vote to some one else. His gesture in and of itself, alone, is not that bad. But you know the cronyism in college football runs deep. It is a good 'ole boy network and it makes it harder and harder for good teams to get the ranking and recognition they deserve. Do you guys really think at any point last season you should have been receiving more votes than USF?
  6. Lunch with O'Leary.....HA Better guard your plate, he may steal a bite when you are not looking. [smiley=cowsleep.gif]
  7. Regarding Duke's vote: The story goes that Steve Spurrier vowed to give Duke a vote (25th Place) every year because they gave him his 1st job as a head coach at the collegiate level. Its stupid and it really draws into question all of these polls. There is so much room for coruption.
  8. How do you know what type of QB C-Hill was/is going to turn out to be? You were able to determine that our coaching staff failed him after one season, in which he saw minimal playing time? Also, this kid does not have the problems in his life that C-Hill obviously has. Pure talent and athleticism is worthless if you don't have the head for the game and in life. Ever see his HS tapes?  His HS stats?  Obviously not, he was a stud.  All the tools of a Vince Young.  I was able to determine that our coaching staff failed him based on the fact that he made no headway whatsoever throughout his FR season, fumbling the ball away numerous times and twice in a row in our bowl game AFTER taking reps as the backup QB for most of the season.  So what's your excuse for PJ's lack of development?  Great "Head for the game", natural leader, great athlete, yet no development whatsoever during his THREE YEARS as starter.  Yeah you're right, this staff has a great track record of taking raw athletes and turning them into polished, consistent QB's..   :  I suggest you watch a USF game once in awhile before commenting.  I have watched enough Bulls ball to know that the coaches did not ruin C-Hill. Holding on to the Ball 101 is taught at the Pee Wee level, and obviously would have been reinforced in the offseason. Hill found out that he can't carry the ball like a loaf of bread this year. My point was YOU DO NOT HAVE A CLUE, nor do I, as to how C-Hill would have progressed as a QB. Leavitt was obviously trying to improve him and the system by going to Texas to see how they ran their offense with Vince Young, so obviously they made the same connection that you did Coach Beastie. Do not attack me and say that I need to watch a game, I am saying I do not know how C-Hill would have turned out if given the time to grow into the system.
  9. How do you know what type of QB C-Hill was/is going to turn out to be? You were able to determine that our coaching staff failed him after one season, in which he saw minimal playing time? 10. I do not care what anyone else says, as my post early clearly stated, In Leavitt I Trust! I can't speak for cee or turkey or the other UCF fans on this board. You are entitled to your opinions and make them perfectly clear; constantly and repeatedly. What we have done in our 10 years of existence is unprecedented. If you think that losing Jim Leavitt would in anyway help this program, I believe that you are sadly mistaken. We will win the Big East in the next 4 years, and when we do, I am sure you naysayers will be on here finding another reason to piss and moan, because that is obviously what you do best.
  11. In Leavitt I Trust.... The usual suspects on here can attack him all they want, but you cannot take away what this man has done for our program....built us into a D-I BCS School, in 10 short years. For those of you calling for his head (constantly) how awesome would it be if, check that, WHEN, we get to the promised land? It would go down in college football history as one of the greatest football stories. I just hope he stays around long enough for all of us to find out.
  12. No smazza, we get it. But could you please name the INTELLIGENT series we have turned down? Taking 3 for 1's or 2 for 1's with top teams is not smart scheduling, it is a reciepe for disaster. We need to stay the course, continue to schedule INTELLIGENTLY and also realize that we do not have total control over the schedule. Do me a favor and go look at some of the OOC schedules in the Big Ten. Wisconsin's is particulary impressive. :
  13. http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/colleges/kansas_state_university/15009292.htm Unless he has a sick relative or other family issues, I am thinking that he doesn't get the waiver. This article makes it seem like it was all about the playing time.
  14. I agree, I didn't buy mine yet either. But, the $100 is front row, center court. It is for 2 games, not just one. There are other affordable ticket options as well.
  15. And your point is? Did you read in my post about the scheduling difficulties? They are well documented. It is one thing to say we need to play better teams and harder games, but you can only schedule what is available. I agree that the front quarter of this year's schedule is very weak, but hopefully we can turn that into a positive by beating our two OOC BCS opponents ON THE ROAD and taking care of business in the Big East.
  16. That would be Kansas, UCF, and UNC. They are not great teams, but you can only schedule what you can schedule (a Yogi-ism). the bottom line is that most teams' schedules for this year were set before we moved from C-USA to the BE and so we were at a great disadvantage in needing to schedule an additional game from being in a smaller conference. Additionally, the switch to 12 games required us to add another game. Look at the schedule we have lined up in future years, hell look at last year. We are not dodging anyone, its all about availability and intelligent scheduling. Almost every team will have a cupcake on the schedule early on.....just look at it as a pre-season game. I think our upcoming games against Auburn, Miami, Florida, and UNC are a good start to the schedule and I am certain we will add more. My point was that a LOT of teams have a cupcake scheduled to start the year and the FSU-Miami game is illusory as they both play whipping boy the following week. And turkey, are we to be in awe over UCF's difficult opener versus Villanova?
  17. Presale means you have to have the password to buy the tickets before the general public. I believe the regular "sale" to the general public begins on Friday. You can land some killer seats right now with that password.
  18. Wow, and Greg said that two hardship waivers in one season was impossible! Its good to see the NCAA is being realistic in helping the good kids out who are not just leaving because of attitude and PT. GO BULLS!!!
  19. The ACC has kept no secret that they have Miami play FSU in the first week so that the losing team has ALL season long to get itself back into the BCS hunt. They recognize that those two programs are contenders year-in and year-out and they want their conference to have a legitimate shot at two BCS berths. Who do Miami and FSU play the following week? Answer: FAMU and Troy respectively. I would say that the Troy, Rice, and Western Michigan games serve as softees in FSU's schedule, while Miami has FAMU, FIU, and Houston. FSU's only real non-conference game is against Florida. Get a clue turk.
  20. I would love to be playing in the fifth BCS bowl, because as I understand it, that is the National Title game. There are the 4 staple bowls (Orange, Rose, Sugar, and Fiesta) and the fifth bowl is the National Title game. So lets hope WVU or UL (or USF) is playing in the 5th BCS Bowl game.
  21. The tickets are on presale right now on ticketmaster.com. The tickets are for both the FSU and USF games on December 29. I checked and they have first row, center court seats available for $100. The password for this presale is HOOPS
  22. Waaaaaaahhhhhhhh the Big East only has 6, count 'em 6 bowl tie-ins....... But alas, we still have the most important of all....BCS baby! All other bowl games are just window dressing anyways. The games outside the Big 5 are just for the fans of those teams anyhow.
  23. Agree with Smazza.....my only alliance is with the school's name on the uni.....not the name of the guy in it. Give me the guy who is going to hold on to the ball, carry for 5 yards on average, and break one now and again, not matter what his name or experience may be.
  24. A bird in the hand that isn't going anywhere is worth two in the bush....
