  1. its awesome, reminds me of the when the athletic department was good and we were all pulling the same direction when there wasn't this trend of apathy and disregard. Reminds me of what i loved about going to USF games. Its been a long time since i've seen that amount of energy directed towards the Bulls.
  2. Early morning basketball at the center. Education day or something like that, over 1000 elementary and secondary school kids, absolutely the loudest the center has been all season, if not for years, kinds gives me chills, got give a shout out to those kids and hopefully USF superstars one day.
  3. Nonsense. Either you are being hyperbolic or you have no idea what you are talking about.
  4. Well, we are still on top but Michigan State is now right there. And although I agree with what someone said above. Just like in business you have to do something to separate yourself. Rays used analytics, Jose Fernandez was the first to really use almost entirely european players, so maybe we will be the first to mainly use the transfer portal, putting our resources there rather than on the high school scene, idk. just guessing. And it seems at least this year, that is panning out, maybe trying to catch lightning in a bottle. 8 tp commits with an average score of 81.25, closest school right now in volume is indiana, with 4 tpcs an average score of 82.25. And consider Michigan State, 3 tpcs, avg score of 89, we may have a lot of defensive holes so maybe 8 commits at a lower quality if better than 3 with a higher quality, especially since we probably had no chance to land any of those anyway.
  5. Still got a three weeks to go but I thought a best of 2021 would be apropos at this time of the year. Certainly in recent months one could add the OT men's soccer win @ UCF or the women's basketball victory against Stanford or even the announcement of Lacrosse. But my favorite is this one USF wins 2021 American Baseball Championship, clinches NCAA Regional berth - USF Athletics The Bulls defeated rival UCF, 8-7, for the program's first AAC Championship.
  6. I can get why people may not approve of how the government handles things, on both sides of the aisle, but before you get all, if you dont like it you can leave, keep in mind that the point of being a American is to be able to voice objections over how the country is being run in hopes that that country will be run, subjectively, better. With that being said, I love the Olympics and I will be rooting for the USA, even if I don't agree with the government or the capitalistic system, and that is a pejorative I subscribe to. There are many many things about this country I love much more so than things I don't love.
  7. Editor’s Note: Neither Anderson is connected to Ottis Anderson, the MVP of Super Bowl XXV in 1991 when playing with the New York Giants who played college football at the University of Miami.
  8. yeah, terrible. Feeling bad for our biggest rivals and their fans. Makes you realize there are more important things in this life.
  9. Every single thread...every one. So, how about them BasketBulls?
  10. Heck do more than that! Watch the basketball teams, the baseball teams, go to a track and field event, if you haven't been to the baseball/softball complex, check it out. On a spring day its the best place in sports. There's more in athletics besides football, what? I know, right? Football just gets the most exposure. If you don't follow other sports yet, it will feel weird at first. But you start seeing the same people, get talking to the parents of the players, sometimes we even win! What? I know, right? Seriously tho, football is the king of the mountain by a long ways, but these other sports are fun to be a part of also. And especially now with Women's basketball beating the last year's national champs yesterday. It's gonna be ugly in Men's basketball but in the five games I'm starting to see kind of a chip on the shoulder developing, us against the world kind of deal, so who knows, maybe we will win a game or two in-conference. What? I know, right?
  11. I tell myself the same thing every year when one of our sports ends up underperforming. I tell myself, I love USF, I support USF, I am loyal to USF. Everything I have had and do have is due to the opportunity and the chance that USF gave a loser tire salesman back in the nineties. My first real job was due to the degree i earned at USF and now I am settled into the back half of a long career I have had because of USF. I met my wife at USF and the children that were a part of that union, i owe, in part, to USF. I know it's disappointing it is to be in the position we are football-wise but I also know what it's like to be 18-22 years old. I can't put the love and loyalty I have to this institution I owe so much to on the line because of the performance of people who are barely, barely out of their childhood years. I will always support USF regardless of conference or performance. We are all humans, and humans are inherently emotional, I get that, but we can't let that emotion keep us from loving what we love due to expectations. I feel you, I hear you, but I think there is a possibility that this team is better than we think, certainly better than Las vegas thinks, 5-2 against the spread over the last 7 weeks. Lastly, and I know I am in the minority so don't yell at me, I like the American, I think it fits us. But for those who dont like it keep this in mind, after the American invited the other 6 teams to go to 14 in football, they did so because they are expecting more defections. "We do want to get back to either 10 or 12 [schools]," AAC commissioner Mike Aresco told the Orlando Sentinel in September. And I mean who else is going to get an invite? Tulsa? Tulane? East Carolina? I'm guessing us and SMU are next up when the next round of expansion happens. Again, I know for most this sucks, but you've got to keep a green and gold outlook, otherwise, what's the point.
  12. Again no disagreement here. Head coaching position is probably the only job in the world were you have such a short leash, its the environment of the game. We as fans demand instant gratification and if it drags on more than a couple dozen games then we demand change, i dont think that is good for the sport at all. Stability breeds success, and right now, due to various influence that is not happening here.
  13. yeah, he had a good run there, started slow, went to 7 bowl games in a row
  14. Yes, totally agree, no argument here. I think my point is that we, as fans, tend to put to much expectation on what a team of student-athletes ought to be able to do. Saban also pointed out that the players are playing for our entertainment and we should be supportive regardless of the circumstance. IMO opinion I think the negative discord on the board could be toned down a bit especially when there is talk and threats of violence against a coach based on his performance. Its disappointing, to me, to read so much about how Scott should be fired so early into his career.
  15. NIck Saban criticizing the fans was a beautiful thing. I wish more coaches, ie Jeff Scott would come out and say the same thing. Have to say I have more respect for Saban after that. Nobody wants to win more, not the coach, not the fans, nobody wants to win more than than the players.
  16. Absolutely correct, sorry about the error re: Ken Ericksen, I read the info wrong.
  17. So, I may as well throw in my two cents, everyone else is. You know what the main difference between USF Football and almost all the other sports in our department? Lack of continuity at the HC position, which seems to me, is directly related to success. Jose Fernandez - 20 years - His first three seasons - 25-57 Denise Schulte-Brown - 16 year - Her first two seasons - 14-20-4 Ken Eriksen has retired obvs. but he coached that softball team for 22 years Billy Mohl is coming up on his 8th season with the baseball team, 5th as HC All of the above have had success in their programs because there was stability. Stability breeds success not the other way around. Scott, 2 whole seasons in and you guys want him fired. It's BS, I don't care who you bring in to coach, when you are starting from zero, in football, there is low probability you are going to have success in 2 years, especially when there was nothing there to start with. McClain is a effin Freshman and he is no *enter Heisman QB name here* but he has a **** ton of potential, for God's sake, give him some continuity and maybe he will be our next Matt Grothe. I say, not only keep Scott, give him a contract extension, show the team that the the administration is stabilizing the situation. IMO, I think a stable strong athletics department grounded in a foundation of a strong football program is as important to a "P5" conference (which, if it wasn't for the $ I'd say we stay where we are at, eff the P5) as an OCS. That Tulane game was bad, real bad, but if you take that out of the picture and look at the season as a whole, unless of course you've jumped ship and haven't really watched the games which seems to be sort of a common thread on this "fan" board, this team is better, and getting better each week (mostly). I expect to see a huge bounce back tomorrow and sure, we might still lose but there is something jelling here and I hope Scott is given the chance to finalize the product. Probably more like 4 cents but whatevs.
  18. and it looks like that tourney is true, we'll call it verified, have seen it in 2 different places
