  1. The Memphis/Liberty Bowl explanation I understand. Navy/Military Bowl on the other hand.. Harlan has to spin this any way he can but this team was failed when it was sent to Birmingham instead of Annapolis.
  2. 2. Different bowl or last year's date and it'd be 5.
  3. Last year was the Hyatt Regency. I liked it and hope it's the same this year.
  4. Holy smokes.. how are there no bowl announcements coming out yet? Not even lower tier ones. This is torturous.
  5. Brett McMurphy's updated projections has us in the Birmingham aka Jim Leavitt Bowl vs Kansas State.
  6. Couple of recently updated projections I didn't see posted.. USA Today USF vs FIU in the Gasparilla Bowl https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2017/12/03/bowl-projections-clemson-oklahoma-georgia-alabama-make-up-college-football-playoff-field/917019001/ Diehards USF vs FAU in the Boca Raton Bowl https://www.diehards.com/national/week-14-bowl-projections-playoff-college-football-oklahoma-wisconsin Bleacher Report USF vs FAU in the Gasparilla Bowl http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2747099-college-football-playoff-standings-2017-final-bowl-game-projections
  7. The anticipation is agonizing. It would be nice to be pleasantly surprised for a change.
  8. Maybe I'm missing something but why on Earth would Malzahn ever leave Auburn for Arkansas?
  9. Birmingham on the 23rd is a raw deal. Better than the Gaspirilla Bowl but only barely. I will not be if a happy camper if I travel to AL two days before Christmas to watch a loss. This season has felt like one kick in the nuts after another.
  10. If these top P5 teams keep refusing to play teams from our conference then we need to be working on securing as many 1&1s with the top tier programs from other G5 conferences as possible. Boise, SDSU, Troy, N. Illinois, Toledo, Western Kentucky, Marshall, BYU, Appalachian State, and Arkansas State. Teams that even in their down years are still good for 7-8 wins. Eliminate the FCS games. In the instances where we schedule 2 for 1s with the likes of Texas we need to make up that extra home game with the best bang for our buck. Cheap payday game vs a middle of the road Sun Belt or C-USA teams. Harlan needs to find creative ways to improve our S.O.S.
  11. I'll be anywhere besides Hawaii +3. Would love Military or Liberty. I'll be really disappointed with the Gasparilla and mildly with Birmingham. I enjoyed Birmingham last year but a new experience would be nice.
  12. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/in-the-college-football-playoff-half-the-field-is-eliminated-before-the-season-begins/2017/11/28/aff5043e-d473-11e7-a986-d0a9770d9a3e_story.html?sw_bypass=true
  13. After a home game earlier this season I heard a fan ask Q when they were going to open up the offense and let him play and he shrugged his shoulders and said "I just work here." So that along with his competitive nature lend me to believe that isnt the case.
  14. CAREER Passing TDs: Marquel Blackwell 67 (1999-02) Quinton Flowers 67 (2014-17) Rushing Yards: Marlon Mack 3,609 (2014-16) Quinton Flowers 3,566 (2014-17) All Purpose Yards: Marlon Mack 4,107 (2014-16) D'Ernest Johnson 4,023 (2014-17) FG %: Emilio Nadelman 77.7% (2015-17) Marvin Kloss 77.5% (2011-14) SINGLE SEASON Passing Yards: 1 Matt Grothe 2911 (2008) 5 Quinton Flowers 2600 (2017) Passing TDs: 1 Quinton Flowers 24 (2016) 3 Quinton Flowers 21 (2017) Receiving Yards: 1 Rodney Adams 822 (2016) 2 Rodney Adams 816 (2015) 3 Marquez Valdes-Scantling 746 (2017) Anybody have any more to add? Besides 10 wins, another bowl win, and a end of the season ranking there is still plenty for these guys to play for.
  15. I think we could beat UCF, ECU could beat Memphis, Fresno St could beat BSU & we'd still only squeak into the playoff poll at 25th.
  16. How important will this week's game be for Q's legacy here? Obviously he's a very respected young man and inspiration for his preservation through all the adversity he's faced. His numbers speak for themselves as well. But what are his signature wins/moments as our starter? 2-0 vs UCF, Syracuse ('15), wins over #21 Temple('15) and #22 Navy('16) at home, and beating a .500 USCe team. Leading the team to a win this week would give him a clean sweep vs UCF, his highest ranked win, and lead us to our very first CCG. Plus our only two ten win seasons. A loss would move him to 2-4 vs ranked teams and losses in arguably his biggest three games. With FSU in '15 & '16 being the other two. Obviously the QB is only one of 85 players on a team and shouldn't get all the blame/credit for W's & L's. But as the face and leader that's just part of the territory. IMO, based on his numbers, skill set, and bringing the program back from the depths of Hell he's the GOAT here regardless of what happens the rest of the year. Whether or not he's Dan Marino great OR Joe Montana great is still TBD.
  17. Current pace for the three excluding the CCG. Q - 1044 Tice - 1032 DJ - 858
  18. Matt Baker has us ranked again on his ballot at 23. Not before some more jabs though. The fact that UCF didn't move up in the coaches poll despite so many top teams losing is the latest slap in the face for the American.
  19. He's going to be a big time weapon for whoever is under center next year.
  20. Neither Tice nor Flowers are on pace for 1,000 over 11 games. Considering that we are a lock for a bowl game at this point this is what each player would have to average over the final three games to reach 1,000 rushing yards. In parentheses is what they are currently averaging per game on the season. Tice 74 YPG (86.7) Flowers 83 YPG (83.4) Johnson 90 YPG (70.1) Of course if we win out they'd have an extra game with the CCG as well.
