  1. Woulard and company will have their work cut out for them over the next couple of days and weeks. First something needs to happen to show how the importance of USF football to restore some confidence back to the donors, season ticket holders and fans. Then they have to figure out how to reverse the trend to prevent USF from becoming a toxic program that no one wants to touch. But then again I can be wrong. maybe the revenue they get just by showing up for the games is enough.
  2. I don't think it is a matter of people not willing to contribute. It is a matter of not trusting someone to maintain and take ownership of the trust.
  3. The sad part about firing Skip is ALL the coaches will be fired. Chances are none will return.
  4. problems still remains who do you hire as the next HC? where do you get the money buyout skip's contract? where do you get the money to pay for a new coach?. Skip is killing the revenue stream right now. Season tickets sales and bowl revenue are certainly down from last year. Also the poor play on the football team may have cost the team an opportunity to take advantage of any realignment. (Its just not the right time to be losing like this)
  5. I suggest you go to Brick House Tavern before and after the game.
  6. Can someone pull the record for Kansas, USf and Tech Tech since the 2010 Season. I know Kansas has already fired and replaced their head coach
  7. Are we going to move homecoming back to basketball season now? (I know there are some on this board who have no clue what I am talking about. Yes USF's homecoming use to be during basketball season.)
  8. BJ has played well this year. He has left a lot of himself on the field. The number of dropped passes today were unbelievable.
  9. We hear that a lot but I am sorry, that is no excuse. I don't care if you don't trust the coach, I don't care if you think he is unfair or an idiot. You take a scholarship, you accept a spot on a football team, you play with pride. I have had to work on teams with leaders that I thought were inferior all the time, that isn't an excuse for the kind of effort we are seeing. If Skip has any accountability as a coach we'll be practicing under the lights tonight! This isn't poor game plan, it honestly isn't even poor execution. It is flat out no effort. I'd bench every senior for the first half of Louisville. Seniors are the ones expected to set the tone, they are the ones that need to be motivating the locker room. Obviously we aren't getting it done. Holtz needs to send a message. I don think benching the starter or the seniors will make a difference. This is a deflated team. They are half way through the season and will need to win at least 4 of the last 6 games to become bowl eligible. Bowl game means more revenue and it means getting out of this losing funk.
  10. Not sure what the purpose of the e-mail will be.The loss of revenue should be enough to pull the trigger, if there is a trigger to pull.
  11. Moral victories can be good. It just depends on which side of the victory you are on.
  12. "We're not good enough, obviously. We got beat by a better team. That's all there is to it. We've got a ways to go." Former USF Head Coach Jim Leavitt after the 27-9 loss to Kentucky in 2000. http://www.sptimes.com/News/091000/Sports/Chance_passes_USF_by.shtml "I give Florida State a lot of credit. They did the things they had to do to get a win. I was really proud of our football team, proud of the way they competed, proud of the way they played together, hung in there, the way they played a 60-minute game." Current Head Coach Skip Holtz after the 30 - 17 loss to #4 Florida State 2012 http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/no-4-fsu-pulls-away-30-17-victory-usf Quite a difference.
  13. Yeah next year will be worse with the amount of talent that will be lost this year.
  14. Although there is never a good time to have a losing record. Right now is really bad with all the re-alignment and the need to schedule tough games.
  15. where is the USF section? I called USF athletics last week and never heard from them. I have to go the stubhub route now.
  16. figured competitive loses are better than boneheaded ones.
  17. “I made a significant point when I got out of coaching that I’m looking for a program that’s committed to winning and being the best they can be. Certainly South Florida fits that profile. Coach Leavitt, the alumni and the administration have done a tremendous job getting it to the point where it is. There’s probably another level they can get to. “The recruiting base, the facilities as I understand them they’ve done a great job with that. My wife is from St. Pete. We have lots of friends in the area. I’ve recruited in Florida for a long time. There’s some positive things about the program.†http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_college/2010/01/is-phillip-fulmer-interested-in-usf.html#more-3964
  18. Fulmer also believes he will coach again in the future. He is looking to establish himself at a well-established school. "Somebody that's committed to winning championships and being the best that they can be, with a chance to compete in a conference that's nationally recognized. I'm not going to go walk into a door somewhere that you have no chance to be successful." http://sports.espn.g...tory?id=4405995 okay with the exception of the nationally recognized conference but at least the pressure would not be as bad as the SEC. We'll accept competitive loses.
  19. All of this depends on the objectives for the game. If it was to win the game then USF did not meet that objective . If the objective was to drive in revenue then mission accomplished. Heck even the $15 mark up on the tickets was a sweet touch. Go free market.
  20. It was a parent of a recruit, different sport. The football recruits can go to will call individually, therefore they had the opportunity to do anything they wanted to with the ticket. Now this may be necessary from a compliance stand point but I am sure there is a better way to manage that situation. One of the coaches made a comment to the parent that the situation should not happen. I personally found it disturbing and disrespectful. At the same time it reflected the lack of management from a football perspective.
  21. Someone mentioned that USF Football recruits sold their tickets to FSU fans as well. Not a good sign for those in the football department who are responsible for managing the recruits.
  22. Players only meetings should happen all the time. The problem is when it is announced to the public as a way to rally the troops.
