  1. WoolyBully calm down it is not that serious this is just a hypothetical situation. Holtz's extended contract does have a buy out clause. In this hypothetical situation and in reality he would have four more years on his contract leaving only $2.0M remaining equal to one year's salary. So the likely-hood to buyout the last four years in not unreasonable. So if you are Holtz would you roll the dice and go with an "up and coming" defensive coordinator or an "experienced" defensive coordinator? And on the other side of the coin as a defensive coordinator is it worth the risk, understanding what could potentially happen to Holtz staff?
  2. Let's just say Holtz fires Cosh next year. Put yourself in the shoes of an up and coming defensive coordinator or an experienced defensive coordinator. "Would you take the job of defensive coordinator at USF?". You would ultimately be responsible for turning around the defense in less than a year, without any opportunity to recruit. And if you fail you along with Holtz will be fired at the end of the year if things don't work out.
  3. I have given up on the season, Now I just want to see how bad it gets from here.
  4. If there was a Skip Holtz magic eight ball what would it come up today? Today the ball didn't bounce our way. We were just a play or two away The players really played their butts off I feel bad for the seniors Its not my fault we are going to go back and take a look at everything
  5. This is no different from last year. Even Nevada was about to score in USF but they ran out of time.
  6. Can not only blame Cosh this has been happening since last year.
  7. GREEN Whatever happened to tweeting the the fight song on Twitter.?
  8. Okay you got me. I started this thread to stir the pot. It was getting quiet on the board during the bye week. Since tomorrow is game day there will be plenty to chat about.
  9. "I have heard great things about the young men in our program from a variety of people. I can't wait to meet with each one of them and to begin working together toward a Big East championship," Holtz said. "My goal is to graduate our players, to foster their personal development and to establish USF as one of the premier programs in the country." http://sports.espn.g...tory?id=4826420
  10. Its like Skip is distancing himself from the team. "I think the attitude is good and they're working hard," coach Skip Holtz said. "I think they're excited to have an opportunity to get back into game week again." http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/preview?gameId=322940097
  11. Based on the video clip the kid has good offensive fundamentals. I would be interested to see how well he plays defense. He looks like a good addition to the basketball team.
  12. John Chavis (LSU Defensive Coordinator) http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/sec/story/2012-04-24/lsu-john-chavis-pay-raise/54510482/1 http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=28715&SPID=2164&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=3640589&Q_SEASON=2012

  14. USF is Calvin McGees dream job, and he would do well. No Head Coaching experience to my knowledge. USF must find someone who has been a head coach and know the elements needed to become a successful team. How is no head coaching experience working out for Charlie Strong? Bingo....ding ding ding. or for moosechamp at uf I'd rather a hungry coordinator than a retread with experience. put me down for magee. i wanted him last time. he's help run 3 top 10 offenses under rich rod. has his masters from usf. Magee sounds great because he worked at USF. But how many championship level teams has he worked for? Muschamp coached under Saban at LSU where they won a national championship and Mack Brown at Texas where they participated in a few BCS games. Stong coached under Lou Holtz at Notre Dame, and both Spurrier and Meyer a UF before accepting the Louisville HC job The difference with Magee is he only worked Leavitt and Rodriguez. USF as it stands now is not in the postion to take a chance on anyone that has not had or experienced proven success at a high level.
  15. Bill King had Skip on the radio as a guest earlier this summer.
  16. For those who do not know Bill King does a radio show on SiriusXM 91 every morning between 6am - 9am Monday through Friday. On Monday's instead of special guests, he lets fans call in do the talking with some commentary on his part. During the last hour of the show between 8 AM and 9 AM he issues out Bill's Balls of Steal (BOS) nominations. Typically the nominations go to players or teams that did well over the weekend. But occasionally fans call in and give out the suckiess BOS nominations. You can hear a replay of the audio (10/8/2012 Hour 3 @ 39.00) if you sign up on the Bill is King (http://www.billisking.com/) site.(IT IS FREE) Here is the Story: A Temple fan called to nominate the Temple Owls for their first Big East win over USF. After a quick pause Bill goes on this rant that the suckiess Balls of Steals goes to USF by asking "WHAT IN THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO THAT PROGRAM?" If you want a good laugh it is worth a sign up and listen.
  17. I think Brent would be a good fit. Former Kansas State player and coach. A little overlap of Jim Leavitt while he was at KSU. Knows how to win being at KSU (under Snyder) and Oklahoma. Probably not going to get him would be looking for a bigger job.
  18. I Bullieve we will average 4 interceptions per game for the rest of the season.
  19. USF Football 2012 Season And I know a fa-ther Who had a son He longed to tell him all the reasons For the things he'd done He came a long way Just to explain He kissed his boy as he lay sleeping Then he turned around and headed home to ESPN
  20. HELMET TOSS: Asked about the play in which QB B.J. Daniels had his helmet ripped off with enough force to fly across the field, Holtz didn't question the absence of a facemask penalty but said he was glad there wasn't any significant injury to his senior. "I think it's scary. It's really scary to have your helmet ripped off with that speed and velocity," Holtz said. "Thank goodness it came off. If it didn't, he could have been severely injured. I thought that's what all these new rules were in place to do, to protect the defenseless player." SOURCE: http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/holtz-four-game-skid-falls-me#comments
  21. This coach accepts no liability for the quality of this team, or for the consequences of any actions taken on the the coaching staff.
  22. Thanks G.A.! "USF is the only school in I-A football without an interception, and secondary coach Rick Smith had set a goal of 25 interceptions for the season, so Holtz said something must change -- more pressure at the line of scrimmage, more aggressive coverage -- to change that." http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bulls/content/holtz-four-game-skid-falls-me#comments
  23. That was a big time missed call by the reps. The guys on SNY said it best there should have been a ref looking in that specific area for fouls like that. Either way a coach should have been all over it even if they only had the impression something was wrong. Queue in Schiano (USF vs Rutgers 2007) 1:13 mark Just to rub things a little bit more. Take it back to the 30 second mark and listen to what Stu Scott said about Ray Rice and the USF Defense. Have to admit Ray Rice was something special at Rutgers but apparently so was our defense. Now think about how many RBs have run for 100 yards this year alone.
  24. Gets players to play hard but does not guarantee a winning season. (Only one disclaimer at a time and it can only be one sentence)
