  1. According to the NCAA http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?div=4&site=org On total defense, NC State 14 USF 20 On total offense, NC State 99 USF 74
  2. any ticket not picked up at the box office can be picked up in Charlotte, so it's not a major thing.
  3. Isn't he about the same size as Michael Vick was? I don't think he did that poorly.
  4. I agree with him. How many of you are going to watch the Music City Bowl on Dec 30th at 12:00 noon - Virgina vs Minnesota? Or if we weren't playing, the Dec 31st 2:30 game of Iowa St vs TCU, or the 1:00 p.m. game of Tulsa vs Fresno St? I would rather be outside doing some type of activity instead. He writes for a North Carolina paper and would naturally have interest in the Carolina teams. Why are we so threatened if somebody doesn't fawn all over us? Let's grow up a bit.
  5. Well, I just did a very quick search on google for bowl team ticket sales and a few articles came up. South Carolina is trying to have Spurrier market the tickets so they can sell their 12,000 allotment for the Independence Bowl. So far about 6,000 sold. Missouri has sold about 1,200 of their allotment. Nevada, in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, has sold about 75 tickets. Yes, less than 100. Southern Miss, in the New Orleans Bowl, has sold about 2,500 out of the 8,500 allotment. Miami is using a clever marketing tactic. For each bowl ticket purchased through the school, you can buy a ticket to the FSU game at Miami next year. That was an excellent idea, whoever came up with it, but it will only work every other year.
  6. Hey, I saw it, I don't much like it, I won't buy it. Don't get all bitchy about it.
  7. I know it's important for us tosell tickets, but I think the bigger thing is to have the game sold out. It's obvious from the bowl web site that they put great stock in having sellouts, and it would be nice to have our game included in their list
  8. that order number may have nothing to do with the number of tickets or even this particular bowl game. It could be that order for the day for any and all things they sell. As for scalpers, until something like 4:30 p.m. sales were limited to boosters so I don't think too many scalpers were picking up tickets early.
  9. Most of the higher level donors are going to be buying the club level seats, so you stand a good chance to get a nice seat with the lower level - at least that's what I'm thinking.
  10. It would be better with green and gold beans.
  11. I think you'll get better seats buying through USF than through ticketmaster, and you won't have the pay the ticketmaster scalping fee.
  12. gold towels would show up better than green ones.
  13. You could always try priceline. http://www.biddingfortravel.com can give you the hotels that come up and some prices - I would guess they would be higher for new year's eve weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a 3 star airport area one for $50-$60. Downtown would probably be more.
  14. That shows just how hard of hill we have to climb in getting fans to come to the games. Here's a guy who cares enough about the Bulls to frequent a message board and have several hundred posts, and he didn't even have enough interest to go and see one of the best opponents to ever come to RJS. Then he's too lazy to even drink one for himself - he wants somebody else to do it for him. Amazing.
  15. Would she have to tell you that you are the "people's champ"?
  16. Notre Dame was turned around by WIllingham. Weis is taking advantage of that, and their strength of schedule is much weaker than ours. We deserve to go to a bowl because we qualified for it by the bowl's standards. It wasn't given to us but was something the team earned. As for WVU, if you were at the stadium you would know that they aren't much better than we are. I still think we would have won this game if we had beaten UConn. It's too bad you have to look at things with such a miserable negative viewpoint, but that's alright, I guess. You CODs (cult of doomers) are really something to chuckle at. I'll be cheering on the Bulls in Charlotte.
  17. If USF beats WVU, we go to the Car Care Bowl. This is from the Big East web site. "All bowls will adhere to the conference's "one-win" rule whether they select a BIG EAST team or Notre Dame. Any selection of a team with fewer victories must be within one win of all other bowl eligible teams. League squads must be within one conference victory. For example, a team with a 4-3 BIG EAST record cannot be chosen before a team with a 6-1 league mark. Overall records are used for comparison when a bowl is considering Notre Dame in conjunction with a conference team." If Uconn beats Louisville, they will have a record of of 3-4 conference, 6-5 overall If we beat WVU, our record will be 5-2 in conference, 7-4 overall. Uconn, a league team, will not be "within one conference victory" and the Car Care Bowl will have to take USF. Of course the Big East site could be wrong. http://www.bigeast.org/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/bcs-bowl-lineup.html
  18. How about the cult-like detractors of Leavitt who can see nothing but gloom and doom? I am not a COD (cult of doom) member. Of course Leavitt has made mistakes. I look at the larger picture and direction of the program - we are improving. What do you want to do, hire coaches as day laborers so you can get a new one each week?
  19. So then you do admit that he hasn't had 4 years in charge. Good.
  20. I think we are going to "the next level". How can you say otherwise? For many years when we tried to step it up a bit we've had growing pains. Terrible embarrasing losses at San Diego St, Utah, Oklahoma, Southern Miss, South Carolina. It was obvious to see that the program was getting better, but that we couldn't play with the "Big Boys", or the "bigger boys than us". Now we are competitive with any team we play, and I would like our chances regardless of who we are matched up against. Even the most vocal critics would probably agree that we are just a few players away from being a top team - and that is at the highest level of college athletics. Coach Leavitt has done an incredible job of building the program, and he's still doing it now. I am so glad that his job wasn't cut short by a change in direction. I fully expect us to compete next year for the league championship, a BCS bid, and a possible national championship. I may end the season disappointed again, but then again fans of all but 8 of the teams out there will feel the same way about even the BCS bowl part. (or 10 if they add another game) If you don't shoot for the target you probably aren't going to hit it. Go Bulls!
  21. I don't think it would take much to beat UConn. As pitifully as we played (on offense and special teams) we should have still won the game. I think the cards will win by 10 or so with the score in the 20s.
