  1. It's so funny because if you look at the various team message boards everybody is basically saying the same thing - "We have the best speed, we are going to crush these other teams, everybody overlooks us, we get no respect." I guess that's college football.
  2. The worst thing to me is the promotion would probably be something like "Big time college football comes to Tampa". Look how the city was falling all over itself this year to the FAMU crowd. It almost seemed like they were the home team. I don't really like it, or even that we were being considered for the site of the ACC title game, but then again it is not our stadium and I have more important things to be concerned with. I do understand why the TSA would think it would be a great opportunity, and I'm sure they would paint the field for Notre Dame as part of the deal. I don't think ND would play us here unless we had some type of financial revenue sharing agreement. They are doing it for the money as well as the exposure.
  3. No, they should add $7 to the price of an away ticket and include a T shirt with it. Then everybody would have the same shirt and a souvenir for the away game, and the school could subsidize the shirts by signing up a corporate partner before the season to sponsor away game shirts - the partner would also have their logo on the shirts.
  4. But it used to be the playoffs. Now the NFL regular season has crept into January.
  5. hand out fliers? What a stupid idea and a waste of money, not to mention more trash and just another object to throw onto the field as a wadded up ball or a paper airplane. Just make a PA announcement near the end of the game.
  6. While not football related, I sort of like this one from WS. http://americanrhetoric.com/MovieSpeeches/moviespeechhenryV.html
  7. San Antonio (TX) Expresss-News sports section on their college football coverage leads off with about a Half page photo of A Jackson on his 51yd TD run and a big bold headline on the Page "S. Florida slugs Louisville"
  8. Maybe SI will now do an article about the new emerging power in the BE - the USF Bulls!
  9. Well, I wish I was there but Rita closed the Houston airport and left me in Texas. (I was scheduled to fly back this morning). I did listen to WFLA on the 'net feed and did a little bit of yelling by myself, as well as flashing the full bull (both hands in a fist together with the little fingers extended - not that wimpy one handed UT Longhorn sign), but it would have been so great to be at the game. In any case, it is a great win for our program that is sure to draw more fans and convert some of the casual crowd - especially if we do well in the televised game against Miami. Go Bulls!
  10. I think the strength of schedule in that poll is for the games already played.
  11. This Constantine guy is like most of the UCF fans as far as I can tell. He said the USF game was the most important game in the history of the UCF program. In a way that's a good thing, I guess. It shows that they think of us as a prett big program and that they are (were) trying to show that they belong with us. Of course the results didn't say that. I guess we are just looking for different things. This Louisville game is bigger in my opinion, and I dare say we could have a larger attendence for this game than for the UCF game, especially since we are playing a top 10 team, Miami plays at noon, FSU is off, and UF is on at 3:30.
  12. I think the key is having USF move the ball and run some clock - and the key to that is having PJ make some 15 - 20 yd passes. If we only throw these 2 -3 yd pass routes, then Louisville can crowd the line and better defend the run as well. If we can connect on some moderate length passes, then Hall and Ponton can have room to run and we can look to the defense to make the difference. I just hope our secondary can play tight and that the D line gets pressure. A few crunching hits early will get Brohm thinking about getting rid of the ball sooner. One thing is for sure - it will be a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed having the Louisville fans here the last time we played.
  13. I've never figured out the lure of drinking to excess at a football game, or for that matter anywhere. I guess I'm in the mnority here from what I've read, but I like my football sober and don't have to drink to have a good time - and that was also true when I was back in school (although we didn't have a football team then).
  14. How about if we beat them and then Miami? Hey, it won't be easy and Louisville looks to me to be the best team we'll face this year. I hope we can keep the game close and then break a play or two that will win it. I'm mainly concerned about our pass defense this week. I hope we can get the heat on their qb, because he seems able to hit a guy if he gets time. His stats this week are a bit scary.
  15. hmmm, I'm not sure I like the idea of 600 visiting students sitting above me.
  16. From the Calendar http://www.thebullspen.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?action=newcalendar&selmonth=8&selday=15&selyear=2005&acttype=viewdata On September 15, 1995, the USF Board of Regents approved the addition of football at a meeting in Orlando. My, have those 10 years gone by quickly.
  17. I don't think the loss record of UCF has anything to do with it. I think some of the guys here are a bit afraid that we may not win the game. I still say the conference games have more meaning to me this year, and I would realy like to see us beat Miam. I have no feelings towards UCF as a school and I don't even know if they existed when I went to college back in the late 70s. I do know that the most fun USF game I've been to in the last couple of years was the Louisville game. They had a huge amount of fans there, the game was close, and it was just a fun environment. This week should be like that too, and if scheduling permits it wouldn't be a bad idea to add more games, but I do see interest dwindling if one of the teams always wins in a blowout.
  18. It seems like this is UCF's game of the year, while all the BE games (especially Louisville, Pitt, and WV), Penn State, and Miami are much more important for us, or at least they are for me.
  19. well, there are 2 questions asked. The first is should we play each year? I would say not necessarily but it would depend on scheduling and getting our (and for UCF their) program better known around the country. I guess that really means no. The second question asked is should we develop a rivalry? I don't see why not. They make things more exciting for the fans.
  20. All a team would have to do is schedule an at Auburn, and at TN or something like that each year, and they would be well on their way to averaging 20k per game. A game at Penn State would cover almost half the season requirement.
  21. No, many of these guys just like to ***** about things. The truth is we didn't play that badly on offense after PJ came in and the guys started to catch some balls. If we can stay away from the 3 yd pass route, catch the ball when it hits our receivers' hands, and continue to pass block well, then Hall will have room to run, our passing game will be alright, and we'll be winning quite a few games. There are things we could have done better, but overall I was happy with the team because it was improved from last year, and PSU supposedly has a great defense (I'm questioning that, though). I'm mainly hoping that Smith sees PJ is more poised back there and can hit the 15-20 yd pass route.
  22. I was reading the board too and it is obvious that most of their fans consider us to be a third rate team. Well, that's alright with me since I would bet on us winning the game if we played again. I think we've improved this year and I do admit that PJ looks quite a bit better - much more comfortable back there. I hope the guys come away from this game with the knowledge that we are not out of place being a BCS team, and that we can play with the "storied" teams from other conferences. If it is true that Penn State has one of the nation's best defenses, then I say we have the chance to be pretty good. In the end, I would rather have our team than the one from State College, PA - including the coaching staff. Go Bulls!
