  1. No way. Student section is about 2000 I think, at least, and I expect that to be very close to filled. We had 3,000 last year for Cleveland State. So you're saying after going into the 3rd round of the NCAA tourney, opening a newly, heavily remodeled dome, and playing our in-state rival, is only going to bring in 500-1K more than playing CSU off-campus would? yes. You're forgetting the 10,000 UCF fans that will be showing up ... The only way we hit 5k for this game is if UCF travels well and don't forget that UCF is not eligible for post season. I doubt that many are too excited about bball this year.
  2. I can't remember ever having a decent home crowd for a UCF vs USF basketball game. I think the typical basketball fan (if one even exists) in the Tampa area views this as a nonevent. I would expect 3,500 for this game, maybe 4,000 since it's the first game in the remodeled dome.
  3. UCONN is a flagship, therefore higher on the list. When UCF joins the BE and is a member for a couple of years, there won't be a difference between them and us. That's the main reason why I didn't want them as conference mates, oh well. 1. Louisville 2. Rutgers 3. UCONN 4. Toss up Cincy/USF I still believe academics will play a part in all of this. UCF and USF are both rated about the same for undergraduate studies. Where the difference comes is in research dollars. Are we not a much higher ranked research institute? I think that is what will put USF in over UCF if anything happens in the near future.
  4. Coming down from Connecticut and need 2 lower bowl tickets for the FSU game.
  5. Someone with strong ties to Florida recruiting. No more outsiders.
  6. In the Giants game last night, Carolina muffed a punt that was returned for a TD by the Giants. The TD was disallowed and the ball was placed where the muff was recovered. Looks like you can't advance a muffed punt in the NFL either.
  7. Just purchased two tickets for this game. Found a Doubletree Hilton in King of Prussia for $58 buck a night on hotwire.com, it's the 3.5 star hotel that they don't name until you purchase. Looks like train/subway (not sure what it is) is only a couple of miles away. Saw it costs $11/day for an unlimited ticket. Driving down from Connecticut Thursday night, looking to do the tourist thing Friday and going to the Eastern State Penitentiary for their haunted tour Friday night. Looks like Valley Forge is right next to the area of the hotel as well. Staying through Sunday evening. Any suggestions on what to see, where to eat would be appreciated.
  8. USF grad and former season ticket holder now stuck in the northeast looking to make it back for this game. If anyone has 2 club access tickets for this game that they want to sell let me know. I'm will to pay the right price.
  9. I thought 7 on 7 tournaments on campus were banned by the NCAA back in January effective immediately? Did that not happen?
  10. It's only $199 when it's subsidized by the carrier. If you are under contract still you have to pay the full price to replace it unless you have insurance. I say after the courts are done with him, he needs to be expelled for at least a year. I'd be pissed and poorer if someone stole my phone. It's not like he stole a loaf of bread to feed his family. He stole a phone from a fellow student, throw the book at him.
  11. Better to be in the list than not. I believe there is at least one NBE member missing.
  12. Winning is great and all but if you can't put butts in the seats, and the BE has demonstrated that it can't, you don't stand a chance.
  13. The question is does USF, Rutgers, Louisville and Cincinnati have any grounds to sue ESPN, Big12 and ACC? They may have a case that could be worth a ton of money if they can pursue it. Or maybe a way to guarantee themselves a spot in one of the big 5?
  14. When has someone ever signed with USF so they could possibly play in the big dance?
  15. That's the thing. I think we have to have someone locked up right after the tournament at the latest. The next signing period begins a little more than a wekk after the Final game and we have 3 scholarships to give and so big needs that have to filled, but I am confident DW will have everything in order. Haven't most good players already signed in the early signing period? What, beyond extra bodies, can we expect a new coach to bring in?
  16. When this process started I didn't think we would have a coach until after the Final 4. The Final 4 is a great networking place for Woolard to find and talk to many coaches at once. Have patience.
  17. Looks like he could get it done here. After spending 23 years coaching mens college basketball Fran Fraschilla took on a new gig in 2002 when he joined ESPN as a broadcast analyst. Fraschilla brings a considerable amount of basketball coaching experience to his new position as a basketball analyst for ESPN. Fraschilla's coaching odyssey began at New York Tech where he spent a season, followed by Rhode Island, Ohio and Ohio State for a collective total of ten years. He then moved on to Providence as an assistant for 13 seasons before going to Manhattan in his first head coaching job. While at Manhattan Fraschilla's Jaspers teams compiled a 85-35 record (.708) includinga 26-6 record for the 1994-95' season which saw his team go to the NCAA Tournament where they upset Oklahoma in the first round. For his efforts Franschilla was named the NABC coach of the year. During his Manhattan tenure Fraschilla led his team to post season tournament play each year, going to the NCAA tournament twice and the NIT tournament twice. Fraschilla moved on to St. John's, whose basketball fortunes had dramatically declined since the retirement of the revered Lou Carnesseca. In two seasons at St. John's his Red Storm teams had a winning record of 35-24 including going 22-10 in his second season there. The Red Storm went to the NCAA postseason tournament in 98'. Fraschilla's St. John's teams owned a 21-15 record in Big East play and enjoyed a 12-6 advantage playing on the road. In a stunning upset the Red Storm ended U. Conn's 46-game home court winning streak in 1998 and went on to a second place finish in the Big East. Fraschilla was named the mens head basketball coach at the University of New Mexico in March of 1999. He came to the Lobos with a career coaching record of 120-59 (.670) and was the 17th coach to lead the UNM Lobos basketball program. At the end of his three years at the UNM helm Fraschilla's record stood at 55-41 (.571). He led the Lobos to three consecutive NIT appearances. Fraschilla said at the time: "I'm thrilled about being a part of a great basketball tradition that the University of New Mexico offers. I look forward to moving New Mexico basketball into the 21st century and coaching in the nation's best home-court environment." Upon introducing Fraschilla UNM AD Rudy Davalos said: "We are very excited to have Fran Fraschilla lead the men's basketball program at the University of New Mexico. He did an outstanding job at Manhattan College and St. John's. Fran took over a struggling program at St. John's and turned it into a 20-game winner and an NCAA Tournament team. Fran is considered one of the finest recruiters in college basketball." Upon departing the University of New Mexico Fraschilla's career coaching record stood at 175-100 (.636). As of October, 2004, Fraschilla is immersed in his analysts job at ESPN where he wears a variety of hats. There have been some rumors mentioning his name for a return to the coaching wars but at this time nothing has come along which would cause Fraschilla to leave ESPN. Some of his accomplishments are: 23 year mens NCAA College Basketball Coaching career Career coaching record of 175-100 (.636) Several NCAA postseason tournament appearances Several NIT postseason tournament appearances Fraschilla's Manhattan Jaspers teams compiled a 85-35 record (.708) Named the NABC coach of the year for the 1994-95 season Fraschilla's St. John's Red Storm team ended U. Conn's 46-game home court winning streak Led the New Mexico University Lobos to three consecutive NIT appearances Critically acclaimed basketball analyst for ESPN
  18. What is the case for them making the field? I haven't done any research, but I think the only ranked team they beat was at home vs Louisville. They got blown out many times (UConn, Rutgers, Pitt, etc.) by ranked teams. They finished tied for 8th in the Big East. They finished their last 10 games at 4-6. I know their RPI and SOS is good, but they really didn't do anything that says they belong. I guess the question is, are there any other teams on the bubble that have done something?
  19. There are 16 teams in the Big East of which 8 do not have football. Those 8 depend on basketball money to survive. Getting 7 or 8 teams in the NCAAs is worth money that these schools need. Only getting 6 of 16 to the dance is not good. The money from getting to the dance is split 16 ways not 12 like the ACC who got 7 of 12 to the dance. No way the Big East stays with 16 teams if every year they only get 6 teams in the dance. Hopefully we get back to getting 8 next year.
  20. I think that Coach Mac righted the ship here. The cupboard isn't bare anymore. I still believe that another year or two under Mac and we would have started to reap the rewards of what he was trying to do here. I bet coach will land on his feet and we'll probably see him leading another team soon. Good Luck Coach Mac!
