  1. USF runs a spread option read offense, that seems like it's been utilized for Daniels. It seems like BJ has about 10-15 runs per game, sometimes more. That's different from what FSU does with Manuel. And you really don't think FSU game planned around BJ's ineffectiveness in the passing game? FSU took away the long pass from BJ (he tried to force it into deep coverage numerous times) and gave up anything short and tackled that well. The plan was to not get beat deep and we didn't. Early in the game FSU had to respect the fact BJ could pull back the read and run. This resulted in the RB being able to get some yards when actually receiving the ball (not a result of a good USF run game rather DLine waiting to attack runner). Once FSU had the lead and BJ had to throw to stay in the game, FSU pinned its ears back and stuffed USF's run and pressured Daniels like crazy, that's why he as throwing the ball away so much at the end. USF could have moved the ball vs. FSU if BJ would have just been able to hit the 5-10 yard passes consistently, FSU was giving him that all game. But BJ couldn't like he hasn't been able to his entire career and thus USF didn't take advantage
  2. Ej was a much more heralded player than BJ was coming out of High school. His passing talent was already further developed than BJ's. I think having two staffs really messed with BJ Daniels (EJ had Fisher on the staff the entire time). Also I think USF's offense is just different than FSU's in what they try to do. Holtz seems to try and play the game to BJ's strengths (Running and long pass plays) while Fisher tries to develop every QB he faces no matter what. There have been many times over the years where FSU fans have criticized Fisher for not using Manuel's legs more (his best aspect of his game) but it's paid off as now EJ looks to be much better in the passing game. It seemed like on Saturday BJ was missing wide open guys even when he wasn't pressured. That's just lack of development. Daniels is a smooth runner, but until he can consistently hit the short to intermediate passes, he will just be like Denard Robinson, great runner, but no more, and defenses will game plan around that (like FSU did).
  3. haha Wiltz very true, but I'm pretty sure they used most if not all of their offense in doing so
  4. Honestly FSU played as conservative of a game as I've seen from Jimbo Fisher an still won the game pretty handily. We had 420+ yards of offense, a missed FG and a long TD negated by a hold and could have score again at the end if Thompson doesn't sit take a knee. The FSU defense held USF to a 268 yards of total offense with USF scoring only on a 8 yard drive (after the blocked punt) and a garbage TD at the end when the game was in hand. FSU had the most vanilla play calling in that second half that I've seen this year. Not many designed runs for Manuel, and a bunch of stretch runs to chew up clock. That's what most FSU fans are upset about, the fact that we could have easily done more and held back. Look at last week's Clemson game to see what FSU actually does when opening up the playbook. FSU is easily a National Title contender. However USF played with great emotion and and really fought hard (especially cutting it 13-10 at one point. Props to the USF fan base for creating a fun atmosphere last night. I'll be rooting for the Bulls' the rest of the season for sure.
  5. Bubba- As a FSU fan at the game that day in 2009, I'll say that I had never seen so many away fans fill up Doak EVER. Not Florida, not Miami, not Clemson, NO ONE. It was truly impressive. It seemed like the entire upper portion of the entire endzone was filled with USF fans. Florida brings a ton but nothing like that. The only other fan base to even come relatively close was OU last year and even then it wasn't really that close. Truly a special day for Football, even if FSU lost. Now tomorrow (or today depending on when this is read), we may create a Bowl Game atmosphere with as much fans as we are bringing. Should be another special day for football.
  6. I wouldn't want other team's fans in our student section at FSU either so I get why some of these guys are against it. This past weekend there were a couple of Clemson fans in our section and they got verbally abused a ton. There was also a person wearing a Tim Tebow Gator Jersey (seems like there is one of those at every FSU game, it's pathetic) and he actually got his ass kicked by drunk students and was escorted out of the section.
  7. As far as injuries go. DE Bjoern Werner hurt his hand during the Clemson game, but he came back and played (I heard it was a dislocated finger). Other than that it looks like we came out of the Clemson game unscathed. Many of you already know our other All American DE Brandon Jenkins is out for the year after injuring his foot in the 1st game of the year. Tank Carradine has stepped in for Jenkins and already has 5.5 sacks this season. As far as overlooking. I don't think any of the players are. The fans are ABSOLUTELY not. We still remember the ass beating USF's defense put on FSU in 2009 at Doak. We really want to win and win big in order to soften that blow. The players seem pumped (James Wilder Jr's Homecoming) and the fact that there will be 25K FSU fans in the Stadium (maybe more) will make the game seem more like a Bowl game or even a home game, thus should pump the players up no matter what. So for scale I would say 3 maybe of overlooking.
  8. Hey guys I'm back and would love to discuss our teams 4 weeks into the season in anticipation of our battle this Weekend. I haven't seen much of the Bulls but know you guys are 2-2. What's the reasons behind these losses? I thought you guys might be undefeated and ranked coming into this weekend. What should FSU look for this weekend from the Bulls? Any questions for me? Hope to have a good week of friendly conversation.
  9. haha I'm not one to pick a fight. And yeah I expect about 25K FSU fans. Their are ton in Central and South Florida who can't make every home game, so this is a blessing to them. Are you guys on TV anywhere for the 1st game of the season?
  10. I attend FSU, and they just started doing the priority point system for Football and Basketball this season. Seems like other Universities have been doing for a while now.
  11. Believe me I understand how tough this game will be. USF usually capitalizes on these statement games. I was at that 2009 game and will never forget it. I think FSU fans expect a win if the team is mentally ready to go. We play a very emotional game vs. Clemson the week before (College Gameday will be there if both FSU and Clemson are undefeated). That game has major ACC Champ. implications. FSU could come out and lull, and if that happens USF wins by 2 TDs imo. I hope that's not the case however.
  12. haha I do have extra tickets (I bought the $75 season ticket package, which btw is an AMAZING deal you guys have, best I've seen anywhere) but I'm donating the rest of mine to charity. I know a ton of FSU fans who bought them. I look forward to great conversation with you guys. Also come over Tomahawknation.com, which is a great free FSU SB Nation site that has info on the Noles' and is really unbiased. Check there when game time gets closer as you'll see a bunch of coverage on the Bulls from a FSU perspective.
  13. haha that's awesome. I watched some of it an he looks to be a future stud for you guys.
  14. EJ is one of the most argued about players between Noles' fans (what QB isn't though?). He's Jimbo's first actual QB recruit (Ponder was already here when Fisher arrived as OC). EJ was 5 star out of High School and everyone thought he would be the next great FSU QB. He performed really well in his Freshman and Sophomore years as a injury replacement to Ponder and has already been the MVP of 2 bowl games (Gator and Chick Fil A). So naturally everyone thought 2011 was his year to be amazing as the full time starter. Well he got injured in the OU game 3 game into the season and also had an offensive line that was changed almost every game. He still threw for 2,600 yards and 18 TDs. Manuel is a physical specimen. He has a strong arm, is a VERY good runner (different running style from BJ Daniels), and has a strong arm. What he has lacked is his decision making and his pre snap read abilities. He's worked with a NFL QB guru this summer alongside Donovan McNabb an was an Elite 11 QB camp counselor. USC QB Matt Barkley named Manuel as 1 of his top 5 QBs at the camp (full of the best QBs in the nation). Everyone thinks with a better Oline EJ has his shot to prove himself without any excuses. To me it all depends on if his mental aspect of the game has improved.
  15. Hey guys I'm an FSU who comes in peace. I'm making the trip down to Tampa for the FSU/USF game. I'm super excited to come to Raymond James for the first time and look forward to a great game. I wanted to know, how's the game atmosphere for USF home games? Also what should I expect from this USF team this year? Any players to watch (other than BJ Daniels)? Which units of are of strength and weakness this year? If you have any questions for me on the Noles' I am happy to answer them. Thanks and I look forward to some great conversation leading up to the game.
